  1. You coming to support your alma mater?
  2. You are correct. Looks like they played 5 games and then had to forfeit games to Queen City, Harleton, and Elysian Fields before playing New Diana last week. Glad it worked out!
  3. Alto had a game cancelled by Winona in pre-district and as I understand it Ore City had to cancel a couple district games when their school was shut down for Covid. I know Alto is a young squad losing only 2 senior starters so if there is an opportunity for Coach Meeks to get them on the field of play, it will be beneficial. We wanted a full 10-game regular season so thankful Coach Burnham agreed to bring his squad to Alto to play. First time for the Jackets to miss the playoffs since 2003 so we will definitely take another game just for the experience. Our sophomore QB is making great strides every time he takes the field; this will be his 4th start. Also have some JV guys that have moved up and are contributing big time. Looking forward to tonight!
  4. TONIGHT: Bonus game! The Jackets will wrap up the season tonight when Ore City travels to Alto. Kickoff is 7:00 p.m. This game takes the place of the one cancelled by Winona earlier in the season. I applaud Coach Meeks and Coach Burnham for scheduling this game to conclude the season. Says a lot about both programs wanting to play ball and see continued improvement. For me it’s almost like a pre-pre-district game for 2021!
  5. Good to see Kerens back. They have had some good teams over the years. Congratulations and good luck in the playoffs!
  6. Man, it’s been that way all year. That’s one thing I’ll say for the Alto folks: we support our football team win or lose. That’s been proven this season for sure. It’s easy when you’re winning, but week in and week out our fans show up (during this COVID 50% attendance mess no less) and enthusiastically show support for our boys. Band, cheer, all of it. That’s what families do, you know....during the good times and the bad times. JacketPRIDE is alive and well.
  7. Proud of this kid right here: Sophomore QB for Alto in his 3rd varsity start in that position. Phenomenal game for the young man. Congratulations! Landon Cook, QB, Alto, 24-26 passing for 404-yards, 4-TDs, 18-carries for 103-yards, 1-TD, W/Groveton 48-38
  8. Young man went into surgery in the last hour for a broken femur in Tyler. They will have to insert a rod. Prayers for him and for his folks, especially his mom! Great kid. Hustle, heart, and warrior on the football field.
  9. Thanks man. All the best to Carlisle tonight vs. UG!
  10. None of us expected it! Not in a million years, but we press on. Knew it would be rough losing 18 seniors, but not this rough. Very humbling experience I’ll tell you. I don’t recommend it. Lol I keep being told there are great lessons in losing. I think I’ve learned enough!
  11. One senior played in last week’s game vs. Normangee. We went toe to toe with the #10 ranked and undefeated Panthers who had 11 seniors. Coaches made a QB change two games ago. Went with the sophomore who lead the JV last year to an undefeated season. Good things are happening. Not on the scoreboard obviously at the moment, but we are trusting the process, watching the kids and coaches work hard and figure it all out, and honestly they couldn’t have better attitudes through these hard times. Practices are upbeat and encouraging. You would think we were 8-0 if you showed up and watched them work. Results will come eventually. We’re taking our lumps right now but will, I believe, come out of it stronger on the other side. These sophomores and juniors were district champs in JH and JV. So there is some talent and work ethic there. With that said, I like our chances against Groveton. I think we match up well with them. We’ll see. I’m proud to be back in a district with them for the first time in awhile. We have great history! Also Coach Meeks searched and found us a game for next week vs. Ore City. They will come to Alto Thursday night; kickoff is at 7:00. Bonus game to fill Winona cancelling on us. I am thankful the coaches are giving the boys another opportunity to play. It’s the first time we’ve missed playoffs since 2003. They continue to improve each week and our JV boys were the district champs. I am encouraged. We have been down this season, but we do have hope.
  12. Thursday night results: JV (4-0 | 5-3) Alto 16 - Groveton 8 JH 8th grade: Groveton 36 - Alto 28 7th grade: Alto 2 - Groveton 0 (scrimmage) CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ALTO JV: District 11-2A 2020 District Champs!
