  1. Congrats to the Lady Eagles... Beating Brenham must have seemed real sweet. Tagging Friendswood next would certainly make a very interesting statement. If the Lady Cats from Whitehouse and the Lindale Lady Eagles can advance...... wwoooooo hheeeeee East Texas Soccer is just as good as we fans know it is. From a fan whose talented team competed against both terrific shools.
  2. The Lady Lions season came to an abrubt end tonight after a great game played by them and the Whitehouse Lady Cats. It's time to say thanks for such a great season and for giving us fans so much to cheer about. Coach Reynolds and the team represented the school well all season and should be contenders next year in the "revamped" district line-up. They'll be seeing some old friends, (Kilgore, Pine Tree and Hallsville) as well as meeting some new ones (Marshall Lady Mavs, Longview as 4A) Thanks and gratitude to the student athletes from Henderson. Way to go Lady Lions and great job. :happy65: :happy65:
  3. Congrats to the Whitehouse Lady Cats on their 3-0 win over the Lady Lions of Henderson. Both teams played great games and the Lady Cats took advantage of the few chances they had for goals. The Lady Lions had (to my memory) 4 free kicks from scoring range and 5 corners, but were unable to convert any of them. The Lady Cats had speed, talent and field discipline in all three zones. The Lady Lions were able to generate lots of pressure, and mostly responded to Whitehouse's runs but they just didn't have the touch tonight. Whitehouse was a much better team from the scrimmage in early January. Their goals came around 5 mins. in the 1st half on a crossing pass from deep in Henderson's end, then with 20 mins or so in the half a beautiful curving free kick from 25 yds out went in untouched. In the 2nd half around 15 mins to go a misplayed ball in the mid-field allowed Whitehouse to shoot from 20 yds out over the Lady Lions Keepr's hands. All in all a great game to watch, disappointing for the Lady Lions faithful, but a well deserved victory for the Lady Cats.
  4. The Lady Lions and Lady Eagles of Lindale played a great game tonight. The Lady Eagles prevailed 2-0 with a great through ball in each half they were able to finish. Both teams moved the ball well, and responded to the pressure. Henderson did collapse their defense a little too much, and Lindale's midfield were able to control the field as a result. Since this was a warm-up game for each team. I'm hoping the coaching staffs (both teams) will be able to make adjustments for the remainder of their respective play-off runs.
  5. Wooooo Hooooooo!!!!! What a finish to the regular season. As I hoped and figured the Jacksonville Maidens came to Lion Stadium with a great game, plenty of grit and loads of determination. They put up so much pressure in the first 10 mins or so I was startin' to get worried. When a great through ball left Henderson's defense trying to catch up and the keeper not quite fast enough Jacksonville got their score first. The is woke the Lady Lions who started slow for the second game this week. They gradually took control of the game and the ball. and tallied 2 goals in the first half. Jacksonville's keeper kept it to only two with some great saves and aggresive attacking on through balls. The second half started as the first half ended, the Lady Lions mounted terrific pressure and put in their third goal and a few minutes later made it 4. The teams settled down for the rest of the game and traded attacks, shots and defense. This marked Henderson's Senior night so it was great they were able to win it. I believe they play in Lindale for a warm-up game on Thursday at 6pm..
  6. toohot.... re: the Lady Lions playoff run, I'm sure they'll play their best and have some success and some heartbreak. (as will most teams, if not all, from East Texas) The Lady Dragons from Nac came to town tonight and both teams played terrific games. After the Lady Lions built a 2-0 lead the Lady Dragons fought and clawed their way to tie the game. With just a few minutes left the Lady Lions scored their 3rd goal and with 10 or 12 secs. left Nac tied the game again. Lots of cheering on both sides of the field tonight. The Jacksonville Maidens come to Lion Stadium on Friday night. Hopefully the Lady Lions will prevail for the district crown. As an aside. How common is it for the official to stop the clock for "throw-ins" late in a close game? Tonight the official stopped it twice so Henderson "wouldn't have an advantage" If the ball was not retrievable or lost I can understand, but this was not the case tonight. (When Henderson had the "throw-in" during the same time frame, he didn't stop the clock. Just wonderin'????????? <_<
  7. And then there were two! Since my last post,,, the Lady Lions have won all their games. Beating Hudson, Center, Diboll, Palestine, Jasper and Linvigston combined scores 30+ to 1. Jasper scored that one goal. Tuesday night the Lady Dragons come to town. Hopefully this game will be as good as the last one. (with similar results) But we'll see. On Friday Night the Jacksonville Maidens will bring their best game as well. With luck the weather will stay nice, maybe even get warm up some..... sfasoccerfan::::: I agree now maybe the time to start grooming next years Varsity. But maybe that's why we're not coaches.
  8. The Henderson Lady Lions came home from the Tomato Bowl with a 1-0 win. The game was even closer than that."WHEW!" Jacksonville created quite a bit of pressure and had some nice shots on goal. Henderson's "bend but don't break" defense held again. With 17 mins. or so left in the game the Maidens lost a player to a Red Card (she drew a foul, and then was Red Carded?????) With 11 mins. or so to go in the game the Jacksonville keeper mis-played a ball to her left, after 5-6 pinball touches it went in. This closes out the 1st half of district. 8-0 in district,,, 15-1 overall (counting scrimmages) :happy65:
  9. Hiya ChapelHillFan :bye: Could you please tell me where the Lady Bulldogs are playing Tuesday night the 19th of Feb??? I would like to see them play since they may not play Henderson this year. Thanks in advance :D
  10. The Henderson Lady Lions played Livingston Lady Lions down in Livingston on Monday night, Henderson came home with a 3-0 victory. (I didn't get to see the game) Heard tell it was physical and "chippy". Henderson spent the week preparing for the Lady Dragons down in Nacogdoches, "they musta done something right!" The Lady Lions came home with a 5-0 victory. The Lady Dragons played a challenging, physical, attacking game. The fist 10 minutes or so had the Lady Lions almost on thier heels. They responded to the pressure and after a deep throw in and a chip pass to the box a Nac player tried to head the ball out and put it in for an "own goal", this fired up the Lady Lions who managed to create more pressure and scoring chances throughout the half. Henderson earned thier 2nd goal with 5 minutes or so left in the half. The Lady Dragons started the 2nd half like they started the game, and after a couple of close shots the Lady Lions played the ball back up field and inside 5 minutes or so put up thier 3rd goal. The Lady Dragons continued to mount challenges and pressure only to miss the mark or put the ball right to the Henderson keeper. The 4th and 5th goal came half-way through the 2nd half,,, one was a nice header off a corner, the other was a great transition play up the middle of the field. Nac was playing a player down due to a Red Card. (no idea the reason) I don't normally comment on officiating (good or bad), {and 'cause I can't do any better} 'cause it usually doesn't effect the outcome of the game, but sometimes I think the officials allow physical play to go on too long. In my opinion that was the case tonight. If warnings/cautions or fouls had been called more diligently tonight Nac may not have been carded. (but what do I know?) Anyway,, this game and the one against the Lady Lobos should satisfy any doubter regarding the Lady Lions abilities and heart. Up next on Tuesday is a trip to the Tomato Bowl and a meeting with the Maidens of Jacksonville.
  11. I'm sure the Lindale Lady Eagles, Pine Tree Lady Pirates (17-4A), Nacagdoches Lady Dragons and the Henderson Lady Lions (18-4A) will be 1st and 2nd in thier respective districts. (either team taking either position) I'm equally sure they'll all win in the playoffs until they face the bigger/better schools from the Houston/Katy area. Jacksonville Maidens (18-4A), Whitehouse LadyCats (17-4A) will probably contend as well. 'course I could be wrong. It's happened before and it'll happen again.
  12. The Lady Lions just finished a great (non-district) game against the Lady Lobos up in Longview. Though the Lady Lobos controlled most of the game, especially the Mid-field, the Lady Lions reacted to the pressure well. They allowed probably 12 shots on goal, working out to 3 or 4 real scoring chances. The Lady Lions generated 10 - 12 shots on goal themselves and made one of 3 scoring chances count with less than 4 minutes left in the game. This 1-0 victory for the Lady Lions represents the toughest test this season. The Lady Lobos had some un-lucky bounces and touches could have easily been 2 or 3 goals.
  13. BUvball no thanks regarding the Gold Medal..... The girls are earning what they're winning. It is too bad the district is predominately 3A schools.... I'm just reporting the scores for those who maybe interested. :flowers: nacsoccer.... The Lady Lions haven't forgot Nacagdoches, in fact I'm sure they're looking forward to the game. Should be two great games this year. (regardless of the final scores) FHSFan1... regarding my opinions of the games. As a soccer fan I'm sure you're well aware of games that aren't represented by the score. i.e. missed shots, bounces that turn into scoring chances or scores themselves, a single defensive breakdown that allows a goal or a host of other factors that make a game a win or a loss but don't acurately reflect the quality of play or the heart exhibited by the players. I merely think the Ladycats from Palestine were better on Monday night against the Lady Lions than the Ladycats from Whitehouse were two weeks ago. Regardless of the outcome. As an aside..... The Lady Lions will only play Whitehouse in the post season depending how things go.
  14. The Lady Lions played two great games this week. (11 - 1 overall,,,, 5 - 0 in district) On Monday the Palestine Lady Cats were in town, and made Henderson work hard for a 5-0 victory. So far this was the best talent The Lady Lions have faced. (even better than Whitehouse, though Whitehouse won). Palestine's defense were fast, aggressive and technically sound. Their forwards created some scoring chances Henderson hasn't faced much this year. It was good to see the Lady Lions respond to that talent. Palestine's #15 (played Left Back) was a joy to watch. Balzing speed, quick feet and terrific ball skills. On Tuesday, the Jasper Lady Bulldogs made the 2 and a half hour drive to town. Henderson prevailed 3-0, but it was tougher than it sounds. By far the best game I've seen this year.(out of 5) The Lady Bulldogs had speed and talent in all three zones and just missed a chance on scoring midway through the 2nd half. They were especially tough throughout the 2nd half. For 3A schools both teams fielded plenty of heart and talent, it was nice to see the Lady Lions respond in kind. Up next are the Longview Lady Lobos, then the Livingston Lady Lions.
  15. Technically the Lady Lions are 8-1 (counting scrimages) John Tyler (don't know the score) {scrimmage} Lady Lions won Whitehouse 2 Henderson 1 {scrimmage} Lady Lions lost New Caney, Nimitz, Spring and two other teams at the New Caney Tourn. (don't know the scores, but no goals allowed) Lady Lions won the tournament with 5 wins no losses. In district so far---- H 11 Center 0 H 11 Hudson 0 H 9 Diboll 0 ( not a final score ) This should give ya'll a reference point on judging the Lady Lions so far this year, the Palestine Ladycats come to town Friday night....
