  1. Alto defense is gonna have to tackle and make some stops. Also need to open up their offense and utilize what speed they have which is not much. Their offense is very slow paced and one dimensional. Picking Centerville
  2. Grapeland wins this district with ease if they keep them together and have no major injuries. Have way more athletes than any of the other teams. Idk which district is the strongest but from what I have seen is SA is still the team to beat in this region. I haven’t seen Joaquin this year but saw them last year and feel SA is better this year than Joaquin last year. Timpson is very strong but think SA running back gives them the edge. I go SA, Timpson, Grapeland, Joaquin, Carlisle, the top 5 in this region. After that it doesn’t really matter. Alto is better than their record show’s but they must open their offense up more. Very slow paced and do not utilize what speed they do have. Also Leon is better than most think. But still going wit SA in this region until someone knocks them off.
  3. Haha don’t have a clue that’s funny!! Listen I haven’t seen Alto this year but watched them once last year and I assume the QB is the kid from last year. I’m not talking about him and I’m sure he is smart. He seemed to run and have good control of the offense when I saw him play last year. But he is not a spread offense QB and I don’t care what variation of the spread you are running. You mentioned middle linebacker, exactly, usually responsible for A gap to A gap ( don’t have to move much). I’m not saying the kid does not do a good job but compared to some of the skill guys Alto has put out in the past few years. He’s not one of and Alto is know for their speed and skill players.
  4. Going with Crockett. Speed kills and they have it.
  5. They snap it to the best athlete on the team and they are physical!!!!
  6. Don’t underestimate Crockett. Loaded with athletes and speed. Should be a good one
  7. Haha. Well said Blue Blood. They are running the spread with a lineman type player taking the snap and it can’t be done. When running the spread you must snap the ball to the best athlete on your team. Now I hear the defense is stingy but not much depth.
  8. Idk haven’t seen them personally just was told they have not much depth with lineman type interior guys. They did lose a couple players that will be hard to replace but wishing them all the luck as well as all east Texas teams. But just because you have 17 to 20 seniors on a team doesn’t mean you are going to be stronger than previous years and that goes for any team.
  9. Let’s throw Elkhart in there also then we got a real district. Whatever happened to the Alto -Groveton rivalry? A shame it doesn’t exist anymore. One of the great Texas rivalries of all times. Would like to see it yearly again.
  10. Good to see Grapeland back strong like in the mid to late 80’s and on into early 90’s. Would love to see that old district back with Alto Grapeland, Groveton, Lovelady, and even Corrigan and then 4 teams might be worthy of a playoff birth.
  11. Carlisle wins this district easily. Alto only team that comes close and heard from pretty good sources they are down from last year. Other teams are much behind Carlisle.
