The 2019 Boys East Texas Playoff Preview makes it’s annual 2 day run on February 15th and 16th at the Tenaha ISD Special Events Center. It is without a doubt, one of the strongest lineups that this event has produced in quite some time. There are a number of teams still awaiting the final outcome of their district races and Saturday will feature those teams in some great matchups. This is the second time that Tenaha ISD has hosted this event. Special thanks goes out to Supt. Scott Tyner and Athletic Director Coach Greg Jenkins in making this event happen.

The 2018 Girls East Texas Playoff Preview will feature one game this year due to a number of teams playing on Monday and others dealing with injuries and travel restraints.

The East Texas Playoff Preview is looking for Class A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A and 6A teams that will be headed into the UIL or TAPPS playoffs. The site is Frankston High School. There are 8 openings on Friday the 9th and 16 openings on Saturday the 10th. There is an entry fee of $75 and all teams will be fed after their games. The 2018 Boys East Texas Playoff Preview on Feb. 16 & 17 has changed sites. The University of Texas at Tyler's patriot Center is unavailable due to the Rose City Gymnastics event being held there. The Preview will be played at Frankston High School in their new gym. Teams that are going to be eligible for the playoffs and are interested in playing their warm up game or district playoff game or seed in game in this event are asked to contact Barry Barnett at 903-714-7128 or Mark Watson at 903-241-8789 or email at [email protected]

There are quite a few coaches in East Texas that have been very successful at the 2A and 3A level and would be excellent choices for the Chapel Hill job if they decided to move up. Whitney Keeling from Waskom and Dale Irwin from Arp would be excellent choices if they were hired.

Boling's QB, Vernon Jackson, ran for 281 yards against Lexington. He scored all 5 touchdowns. He had touchdown runs of 69, 85, 61, 13 and 14 yards. He only attempted 2 passes and completed none. Arp's defense will need to contain this QB.

This game is being played at the Herrington Patriot Center at the University of Texas at Tyler this Saturday at 5 PM. I bet the place will be full for this one! Right after that game is a Regional Final rematch between Coolidge and Saltillo at 6:30 PM. All part of the East Texas Playoff Preview.

The 2016 East Texas Playoff Preview is in the process of scheduling games! Current venues are the University of Texas at Tyler's Herrington Patriot Center and Arp HS. Girls are set for Feb. 12th and 13th and Boys are set for Feb. 19th and 20th. As usual, this event is free of charge to the teams. Seed In Games and Playoff Games will probably be hosted as always.

The Martin's Mill Lady Mustangs are ranked #1 and are the defending Class 2A State Champions. Tomorrow, make their 14th trip to the UIL State Championships as they defend their crown against another East Texas team....The # 12 ranked Grapeland Sandiettes. The Lady Mustangs have defeated the Sandiettes twice this season in a home and home series. The first game in Martin's Mill was 61 - 37 and the second game in Grapeland was 65 - 42. It will be interesting to see how round 3 goes in the Alamodome for all the marbles. Tip off is at 1:30 PM. The game will be broadcast on 95.9 KCKL.
Last year, the Lady Mustangs defeated the Lapoynor Lady Flyers 58 - 51 to win the Class 2A State Championship!
