  1. Well they better start their offense going pretty dang quick! Spotting the Angels a 2 - 0 lead in the 1st is not the way to get it going!
  2. Nosir. Nobody will throw him or anybody else for that matter regardless of what they do. Why? Because they are not going to do anything that will cause somebody to get suspended for 3 or 4 games. Too much at stake for that!
  3. Rangers fans not happy with the Salty trade need to back up and look at EXACTLY who the Rangers got in return. This Mendez kid in Class A is Feliz type material. When you go back and read up on him, he has hit 100 and 101 consistently with no arm troubles. His change up and curve ball are inconsistent but he will get that corrected over time. The best thing they say about him is that he is coachable and has a great attitude.
  4. LOL!!! At this point of the season, they can spell it any way they want to........just as long as the Rangers keep winning. I was very impressed with the interview that Cantu did after the game last night. His remarks about his new teammates shows how much of a difference a year can make and what winning does to the demeanor in the clubhouse.
  5. This might look like a rent - a - team . . . . .but now I ask you, doesn't it feel pretty darn good for a change to be on the buying side for a change? Doesn't it feel good for everybody else to be doing everything possible to say up with the Rangers because of fear of facing them in the playoffs? I promise you, the Yankees are watching the Rangers extremely close.
  6. Well it is starting to look alot like Christmas!
  7. I would not mind seeing Cuban as the new owner. I think that Nolan stays even if he does not have a pice of the pie so to speak. Cuban made peace with Donnie Nelson jr. after he had a fall out with Don Sr. so I think that Cuban will sit down with Nolan and convince him that he was the beginning of something good in Arlington and would probably strongly urge him to stay. I think Nolan wants to see this thing through to the World Series and given the strong dislike of the Yankees, I think with Cuban being a willing spender to get the players necessary to win, I think Nolan stays.
  8. I am sooooooooo glad that Texas did not pull the trigger on Oswalt. He is not pitching very well as of late and Texas rocked him pretty good and now tonight, Washington killed him! I'll bet the Phillies are wondering.....WHAT DID WE JUST DO?????
  9. You know, when I saw this thread, I had to go back and look at the date. I forgot starting this discussion a year ago. But since we are now discussing trades, look for the Rangers to pull off 1 more blockbuster trade to send them to the promised land!
  10. Did you read Lee's lips after Kinsler swung at that 3 - 0 pitch???? "Why did he swing at that"???
  11. Bell DOES look like Scott......with exception to Scott's numbers! hehehe. I never heard Josh make reference to your note you sent. Rangers should come out busting today!
  12. I have been very critical of Feldman, but up till the 6th, he pitched very well. He should have not come out to pitch the 6th. His record this year has been terrible after the 5th inning.
  13. That was a GREAT induction ceremony for TAG! And as I write, we have 1 out. Feldman can not be going to full counts like this all night though.
  14. I am going to make the call now that if Feldman falters today, you are going to see ANOTHER blockbuster trade by the Rangers for another "hired gun" and I'll be honest.......they NEED 1 more arm. That 1 piece would put the ALCS Championship well within reach! Even with Chris Davis faltering at the plate, it is within reach!
  15. Last night was as close to playoff atmosphere baseball as I have seen in Arlington. Even back in the 90's when they won the division, it just wasn't the same. Even FOXSW saw a huge jump in the ratings for the game. Chris Davis has hit the ball hard and I think it is just a matter of time before his shots start to fall. In the mean time, his defense is phenominal at 1B and while I cringe when he comes to the plate, I am grateful for his glove.
  16. I just sent Cuban an email this morning about that and he said that he will approach the Rangers the same way he appraoches the Mavericks. Donnie Nelson runs the Mav's and Nolan Ryan will run the Rangers. Does not get any plainer than that!
  17. I for one am ready to see Scott Feldman head to the Brickyard! When he pitches......I lose a nights worth of sleep. I have gone up and down the rosters at both Oklahoma City and Frisco and I have looked at all of the teams who would be sellers at this point in the season and I promise you, Texas is just 3 pieces away from bringing the crown jewel to Arlington!
  18. What the Rangers need to do is find a first baseman that can hit above 280 and plays steller defense. They might have to give up one or two from AA and possibly Chris Davis, but I for would be glad to see him go in exchange for somebody who can hit. He just has not arrived yet on the MLB scene with regards to hitting. In AAA, he tears it up, but you don't win a World Series title by playing AAA or hanging on to players here and there. The Rangers got Bengi Molina and he has proved his worth. They have gone and gotten Cliff Lee. Now they need to get with Houston and get the other big gun and the pitching rotation is set. Scott Feldman has got to go.
  19. This story was re-printed from the Dallas Morning News. A question I received from a coach in Oklahoma a little while ago was "Just how common IS this and people never find out about it???" A West Texas student who led his high school basketball team to the state playoffs last season was actually a 22-year-old man, police said Tuesday. Police say the basketball star was really Guerdwich Montimere, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Haiti who school officials say was recognized last month by Florida coaches as having been a star high school player in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., a few years ago. Ector County school district officials said the man posed as 16-year-old Jerry Joseph and enrolled at Permian High School in Odessa for the 2009-2010 academic year. He also presented himself as homeless to the school's basketball coach, Danny Wright, who took the boy in last summer, the coach said. Montimere was arrested at Permian High on Tuesday and booked into Ector County jail on a charge of presenting false identification to a peace officer. Officials said Jerry Joseph originally enrolled at the local junior high as a 15-year-old in February 2009, then moved on to high school. Permian High officials say suspicions about the player's identity first arose when three Florida basketball coaches familiar with Montimere recognized him last month at an amateur tournament in Little Rock, Ark. The Odessa American reported that the coaches recognized him as Montimere, who graduated from Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale in 2007. School district officials said they grew more suspicious after contacting U.S. immigration officials. Police said they arrested Montimere after confronting him about his identity. "I feel like I was hit by a ton of bricks," district athletic director Leon Fuller said. "In my 50 years in education, I've never heard of anything like this." Wright told The American that the player was like a family member. "This affected a lot of people. The whole school of Permian embraced that kid. He deceived us and played on everyone's emotions," Wright said. Montimere was being held on $500 bond Tuesday night, according to jail records. Jail officials said no attorney was listed for Montimere. If convicted of the misdemeanor, Montimere could face up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $2,500. The revelation means Permian likely will have to forfeit the 2009 basketball season in which the 6-foot-5 player known as Jerry Joseph led the team to District 2-5A state playoffs and earned newcomer of the year accolades. "I feel sick, but now that we've gotten the truth we can move on from here," said Permian principal Roy Garcia.
  20. Here is what I think could potentially become an option for the Rangers: 1. Davis first of all needs to be consistent at the plate at the major league level. Otherwise, his defense will not support his presence at this level. 2. In the event that Davis DOES get his bat on track and can put up at least avg. numbers for his position, I can see Smoak being moved to outfield while at the same time, working with Rangers coaching staff on his defense at 1st Base. Keeping him at DH is not an option as long as Vladimar is hitting as well as he is in the 4 hole. 3. Let's look at the law of averages. Smoak at 1st base is a liability due to his errors....BUT the runs he produces is ALOT more than what Davis was doing and the averages would dictate that the Rangers stand a much better chance of being successful with Smoak in the lineup vs Davis.
  21. I think that Rick Webb and the Cayuga ISD Board of Education probably knows that they can do no better than Coach Jenkins as the next A.D. and head football coach. I also know it would be extremely hard to keep Greg off of the bench in basketball. Greg needs to take this A.D. position if it is offered to him. At the same time, there is something to be said for the old saying "Moving up is sometimes not better". In this case, a person could understand Greg moving up.......and a person could understand if he stayed put in his current role. In my opinion, Greg would be an OUTSTANDING college basketball coach someplace. He has that special fire and tenacity and at the same time, he has that special personality that will allow him to be very successful recruiting. I will NEVER be surprised to wake up one day and find he is coaching college basketball someplace. He currently is coaching at a school which launched a great college coach at Texas A&M..........Coach Shelby Metcalf.
  22. Troup has had a great field over the years. The man there that takes care of it has done a remarkable job with it. You hate to see rain and then watch the teams tear it up. This will be another feather in the cap of the Troup School District and its students and coaches.
