Tomlin is a good coach ... probably not a good fit for the "yes man" role required to work for Jerruh .....
It’s about time Jerruh gave it up

In the AFC......this scenario is highly improbable but if Houston, Miami, and Pittsburgh win, the Texans host the Dolphins next week.......
In the NFC.....I'm going for Dallas, Tampa Bay, and Detroit......That sends Detroit back to Dallas next week.........
I like the way you think. Another Dallas Detroit game would be a classic.

Here is an article on Coach Purcell. I Don’t know if you have seen this, but it pretty much tells it all. It is a little sketchy on him winning a state Championship as Head coach in Plano, but I think he did. Anyway, that big ole’ ring he wears, is for his AD ring of honor induction. He was DISD AD when Denton Ryan won its first State Championship.

And the 16 game featured a OT 30 yd game winning fg in a driving rain storm by the same kicker who the year before as a freshman had missed 5 XPs while nursing a pulled hammy.
It was a redemption for him and the team and to do it in front of the NFL network made it even better.
That young man who is one of the best you ever meet had another memorable moment as a SR in 2018
He intercepted Jentsch pass on the first drive of the 2018 State title game could have been a difference in the game? The play was reviewed this was the first year of instant replay at the title games and the int was overturned. I believe that is the first overturned call in state game history?
He is now an Asst Coach at Malakoff
Good Story

Always gotta have luck in the playoffs lol
My heart is with Koff. But I fear Franklin is gonna be too tough. I sure hope I’m wrong. My family went to Church in Malakoff for several years when we lived in Athens, and I sure became fond of those boys. I enjoyed the rivalry between them and Teague for years.

If Canadian can stop making mistakes, and catch some passes they can give Gunter a run for it. Obviously Canadian doesn’t have the team speed that Gunter has. We’ll see.

Right. I failed to mention that.
Thanks

Line looked completely gassed. Tide was blowing them off the ball in the 4th. Great season DF!
Yes they did!! I Don’t understand why Daingerfield didn’t just keep punching the ball down their throats on that last drive before O/T They ran the ball well all night. Don’t throw until you absolutely have to.
oh well, good year DF.

That’s awesome. I was not insinuating anything! Over here, towns are 30-40 minutes apart. Looking at a map they are every 10 miles out east.
Never thought for a second you were. You mentioned about East Texas, And I thought it was a good time to explain my knowledge of it.

The area is growing, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Gunter is. Their numbers are in line (with growth) with what TEA showed for last realignment. Last years class was big, and this years senior class is small. They aren’t accepting transfers, so unless growth is in the district, or move ins, won’t change that much. I’d be curious to see Gunters district square miles vs East Texas. It seems like there is a town every 10 miles over there.
Canadian is opposite. This years senior class is small, but 10th grade is big, and so is the 8th. If we stay up, that is what will cause it. Every class 7th and below is 55 or less, with some in low 40’s.
I lived in Newton for eleven years, and am familiar with the area. Newton County is a humongous county it is narrow but very long. If I’m not mistaken the School District is as big as the County. No growth at all in Newton Proper, but the county no doubt is growing some. The area is mostly Timber Company dominated, so not much growth possible. I believe there has been some talk of Newton dropping down. Most of the Residents commute to Beaumont, Orange, and Port Arthur. It was a good place to live. Good people.

Facts.
No facts, just an opinion that the team that wins will be the better team. Hence you get the best out of two to play. If you wanna be the best, then play the best.

Yeah, the three towns I named (Celina, Prosper, and Frisco are all north up 289. Gunter is still it's own town. You can leave in any cardinal direction and know you've left town. 10 miles north to Celina. Another 10 or so to Prosper. Another 10 or so to Frisco. Right now, there's still nothing between Gunter and Celina for 5-6 miles. Once you get to Celina, you're in the city from there to Dallas. There's no empty space anymore once you hit Celina. Gunter still has the same single red light they added when I was in high school or maybe a little after, and you can still "leave town". Once you get to Celina, unless you're heading pretty far south of Dallas, you're not leaving the city for a while. There's still a nice few miles of country between Celina and Gunter to the north for now.
I started this talk, but I didn't mean for it to get into that crap, so this is on me I guess. Gunter is growing - and the rate is gonna keep increasing because that's the direction of the growth. That's what I meant. Nobody is denying that. My only reason for even mentioning it was that the Gunter/Canadian matchup might not have many more chances to come to fruition; not bring the haters out of the woodwork. We are all well aware of the growth. Sorry I brought it up. Football. Not AT ALL directed at you, THEHARDAWAY.
You are right on the description on Gunter. My Brother-in-Law and Sister-in Law lives in Anna. We go through Gunter a lot going to see them. A lot of empty space, one red light, and that’s about it. Oh, they do have a great ice cream shop there.Lol

I honestly think Canadian will win. But I want Gunter too win because of we can make it to state I want us to be the ones to knock em off.
I understand the sentiment, but you’re gonna get the best whichever way it goes.

I haven't looked into each quarter specifically yet, but I did look at first half scoring, but over the last 9 games (prior to and including last week's game - in other words, it didn't include Jacksboro, but the 9 prior to that. At that point, they were averaging a little over 60 a game I think. The average halftime score in those 9 games was 47-0. So most is scored in the first half. Jacksboro scored 27 in the first half which is the first time a team had scored on Gunter in the first half in 9 games. They have an impressive offense. Feizel is great at halftime adjustments. They managed 6 the rest of the way. It was a ballgame most of the way. 34-27 at half. 55-33 final. Probably the first 4-quarter game the starters have played all year. Certainly since district started. I'll see if I can find somewhere to break it down by quarter. The place I would normally use doesn't have all the games. I'll see what I can find. But for the most part, the majority of their points are in the first half and the majority of their opponents points are in the second half after subs have come in. Subs didn't come in against Jacksboro that I noticed. It was a ballgame most of the way. I didn't feel comfortable until there was under 3 or 4 minutes left.
Thanks for the response Pax. You raised a good point that I failed to consider in my thought process. I didn’t consider substitutes in the second half. However, I did suspect that the subs would be about as good as the starters, and fresh legs would be the difference.

I wished there was a link or site where the stats this season are posted lol I like numbers
I do too. I have been trying to find stats on Gunters scoring by quarter. Can’t find any,, my less than amateur assessment on the Tigers is they beat teams by sheer numbers, and talent they have 56 on their roster. From my best count Gunter has enough quality players to field three separate units; offense, defense, and special teams without many; if any, players going both ways. They can substitute at Will without an appreciable loss of talent. In the playoffs I wanted to see their scoring by quarter. If my assessment is correct they wear teams down by the fourth quarter and score most of their points then. I’m not interested in the regular season, since they scored at will against those inferior teams.
Pax, where are you when we need you.
