I knew this week's ago. That's why on another thread I put the 👀  emoji to see what was happening. For Legacy they just didn't have enough talent. Hell they could only manage 6 wins with 2 of the best running backs in the state last year. I knew they wouldn't do anything after losing everyone. JT had damn near  everyone coming back. Also that's why I said Tisd needs to go talk to coaches at Longview and Carthage because they will be replacing both coaches.

FACTS! It's definitely true that Holmes is out as Tyler high head coach. Legacy as well.

I think I was the one who said they need to move Mcfall back to QB. Williams has the arm talent but the varsity speed is too much for him right now. But its probably because he is just a soph. The other qb from Chapel Hill ain't played much better.

With Mcfall we know he ain't overwhelmed by the speed of the game and he has lots of varsity reps at qb. He is the best option for the remainder of this yr. JT doesn't win that last game without Mcfall at qb.

Will this change the overall outcome of the season going forward....probably not.  With him at qb, it will make a few games closer. Maybe they go 2-8 or 3-7 because he gives them a shot against McNorth and West Mesq.  He makes the  LP game closer, but I doubt they can beat them.    Still a disaappointing season regardless.

    I agree with this totally

Longview by 3 tds. I think Longview is on the same level with Guyer. We all know what Guyer did to Lancaster. I also might be selling myself short with the 3 tds prediction. I believe it will be more but I'll leave it at that.

Longview is definitely capable of winning by 3 tds plus.

Even though it’s preseason, congrats Mavericks. It seemed as if those running backs are hard to bring down. They took it to TH. MM coach call a good game. Cut down on those penalty, and a little discipline y’all should have a heck of a season.

Tyler High, this is no surprise. Do your research and the 1st games, you will see this is nothing new under the sun.

It’s going to take the whole preseason to get things ready on offense. The defensive scheme was way to soft, needs to scrap.

Totally agree. Defense was abysmal, but credit Marshall.

    My Picks -

    Thursday:
McKinney North vs Garland - Garland replacing a ton while North brings back quite a bit. North gets away in the 2nd half.
West Mesquite vs Dallas Kimball - West pulls out a win.

    Friday:
Forney at Crandall - Struggled with this one, but I'm going to go Crandall. It took 3 overtimes for Forney to win last year, so gonna have the homefield be the difference this time.
Lancaster vs Dallas Skyline - Blow out city.
Longview at McKinney Boyd - First quarter is close, then Lobos roll the rest of the way.
Lufkin at Tyler Legacy - Low scoring affair sees the Pack pull it out.
North Mesquite at North Garland - Stallions battle and eek one out.
Tyler at Marshall - Closer than it should be, but Lions pull it out.

    I agree with this

  6. Tyler high offense did its job overall, but could have done more. Jabraylyn Williams and the back up from Chapel Hill did good tonight. BTW, 20-10 Tyler high through the live and controlled portions of the scrimmage. I give Terrell credit. They came to play. Our defense needs to seriously tighten up, but the wing T is new to this group of Tyler high players. Marshall will be a good game imo. We will have to play much better next week. Definitely things Tyler high needs to work on.

Generally speaking….. there can be a pretty big difference in numbers between a 5A Div I school and a 5A Div II school.

Tyler…. on average…..has about 600 more than every school in our district except Texas High.   In most cases… that’s a pretty significant difference.

What works in our favor is that historically for the last few years Tyler’s football numbers have been abnormally low for a 5A Div I school, while Marshall’s is abnormally high for a 5A Div II school.   That closes the gap a bit.

What can’t be over looked is the number of blue chip players Tyler has.  Marshall is a veteran team…. But we aren’t loaded with 4/5 star talent. JQ Davis at RB is about it.

This game….IMHO… comes down to two/three things:

    1.  How quickly the Mav offense gels.  Or how much they struggle.
    2.  Conditioning.  If Tyler isn’t in shape… Marshall will make them pay. Conditioning will not be an issue.
    3.  Can Holmes out-coach Alvarez or can Alvarez out-coach Holmes?

I’m a self admitted Marshall homer. But I’m a realistic homer.  I still think Tyler is a favorite. But I won’t be shocked if this is a close game.

Let’s go shock the world, baby.

I know this was with another school in Ennis, but Holmes is 3-1 against Alvarez and Tyler’s conditioning has been good with the new strength and conditioning coach Dan Eason, who came on 2 years ago I believe. I agree it will come down to Marshall's ability to execute on offense.

This will be the first look at work the new QB brings to the table for Tyler High. This will be an easy drive for me since I live in Terrell. Looking at last season’s game for Terrell. It doesn’t looking it will be much of a benefit. I hope The Tigers can show Cujo some of their weaknesses.

    thoughts?

They run wing T so it will give us a baseline view of that style of offense.

I remember back during 7 on 7 people  a few people on here was that Legacy was gonna be so down, they may just 2 games or something like that. I was hearing otherwise from what the coach was saying and here it is again where it is said they (Legacy)  has high expectations. They are gonna be young Ofcourse, they have alot of sophomores. They are similar in youtj to what JT was in 2020 but They are in a better position than JT was a couple years ago(JT was starting freshman) ,even though they are young, especially at QB. Im not saying they are certainly gonna win as many games they did last year but they that have the potential to. I do feel they will be alot better than what was said on here.

Ok believe what you want my friend

Idk if it will be competitive but I think you guys are very fortunate to be practicing against a team that runs a form of wing T.

True. Terrell isn't a particularly strong team at all, but it is good practice against that style of offense. Now Terrell has new OC as well.
