Osby that was him, never saw him play, but heard he was very good. So theoretically, this year‘s Timpson team is probably the best Timpson team of all time last year‘s Timpson team is probably the second best Timpson team of all time Then you could probably make a case that the 2003 Timpson team is the third best Timpson team of all time and then probably the 1992 Timpson team or Busseys teams from his sophomore and freshman year.
-
So the consensus is that this is the best Timpson team of all time, right? Since Bussey came on the team, there have been a few years of really good Timpson teams. I don’t exactly know where each one ranks among the all-time best Timpson teams — is this one the best? I remember Timpson had a pretty good team back in like 2011, and I remember they had a pretty solid team. I think it was 05-06. And of course Timpson was extremely good in 2003 the year that Garrison beat them out at SFA. I don’t know where someone would put that team on the all-time Timpson team list but it would have to be pretty high. I think people forget how big fast and dominant Timpson was that year too and Patrick Earl at running back was a problem. Timpson’s only problem that year was they were in the same district region and state as the best Garrison Bulldogs team ever

So Kirt, objectively speaking where does this current garrison team rank among the all-time Garrison teams that you can remember? I mean these boys are pretty dang good. I suspect that the 2003 team would still probably hold the title but where do these boys fit? Are we looking at the second best garrison team of all time? Top 5? That offensive line is real impressive.

I would submit that that district, on that particular year, was the toughest district in 2a history and possibly east Texas history all classifications. 2 state champs came out of that district and if those two teams did not exist then you could make a strong case that 2 state champs would have STILL emerged out of that district. 4 state champion caliber teams packed into one single district. Hardest 2a district of all time. Potentially hardest in East Texas history all classifications. I know we’ve had other districts produce 2 state champs in a single year but could you make a case their number 3 and number 4 also could have won state had #1 and #2 not existed?

I’m not super familiar with either team so I watched a few mins of each of their last playoff games. Bellville looks a bit bigger and run a tight offense. I think they beat Jasper but I am not sure of the score. I think Jaspers defense looks a little bit better than Silsbee’s based off my limited viewing. But my sample size is small. From what I gather Jasper does have some momentum. That helps with the psychology but also when kids see a team smash a team that beat them that also has a psychological effect. I did just watched PG vs Carthage and I don’t think either team are on either PG or Carthage’s level.

From what I saw Carthage’s QB arm was not an issue whatsoever— the receivers dropping passes was the issue. I saw at least 6-7 key passes dropped, 2 of which would have been a score. The QB dropped like a 50 yard Dime into one receivers hands and WR just dropped it. QB play looked solid to me. He doesn’t look fast at all but had 1 scramble that was crucial and looked a lot more elusive than I thought he would

This game isn’t as cut and dry as many might make it. And to Kirt’s point this is about to be a super brutal game — Garrison’s O-line are straight up bulldozers. I can see this one being a 1 point game type of deal. Garrison’s kicker/punter (not sure if its same kid) had a rough outing versus Timpson in the first matchup. The missed pat and the 2 shanked punts didn’t do Garrison any favors. I think another thing that surprised me and everyone else was that the Garrison QB was throwing straight dimes in that game. Their passing game wasn’t just a nuisance but a legitimate threat. This is the type of game where 1 single fumble or one stupid penalty or one shanked punt could decide the outcome. With that being said I’m really rooting for Timpson — I want them to go all the way and get that ring.

Regional Semi’s: Cooper 11-1 vs. Garrison 11-1

This just goes to show just how special Timpson really is when you think about it. Garrison bullies a solid Cooper team this deep, and Timpson was able beat Garrison. Though I do suspect this next Garrison Timpson matchup is gonna be one for the ages
