Both teams have not faired well in district to this point but a have a chance to get on the winning side. Should be a good hard fought game and usually is between these teams.

Game Day. Of course every time Marshall and MP get together the temp drops and always seem to be a chance of rain as well. Hope everyone travels safely tonight and possibly have a good game. Good luck to both teams and GO TIGERS!

Sadly this is not a new problem for MP. Numbers have been low for many years. We always say we play 5A ball with 3A numbers. Keep hoping that will someday trend upwards!

MP offense has struggled keeping the laundry clean for sure. We can move the ball pretty well when we clean up the penalties. BTW not blaming the calls just been a lot of mistakes that are curable. Defensively MP has struggled for sure. Marshall will be the biggest challenge so far this year.

This will be a difficult matchup for the Tigers. MP will have to get the offense rolling against what is normally a solid Mavs D to have a chance to stay in this one. MP D will need to step up a lot as well!

It will be another test for the Tigers for sure. Pine Tree seems to be loaded and looking to make a run this year. MP can make it interesting if they eliminate the mistakes and turnovers.

MP coming off another rough game. PT Pirates flying high and playing at home as MP pays a visit. Sounds like PT has it going pretty good this year.

First district game for both teams. MP coming off a really bad game against Paris and Whitehouse coming off a bye. It is Homecoming for MP and that has not always been a good thing with to many distractions going on as well as the Titus County Fair. Hope the kids put the Paris game behind them and take some positive lessons and have a better start against a good Whitehouse squad.

That is interesting. I guess the schedules are to busy to move the pep rally up a day. Also interesting that the start is at 7 instead of 7:30. I guess because it is a school day the following day is why.

Just saw this on the MPISD facebook page: Due to the strong chance for inclement weather and lightning on Friday, the Varsity football game vs Paris has been moved from Friday to Thursday September 20th at 7 PM in Paris. Freshman and JV games have been cancelled.

There have been some classic battles between these two over the years. I sure hope we see one this Friday night. The last few meeting were pretty ugly. Couple for MP and couple for Paris.

Not sure I remember Paris ever being slow. I do realize that from year to year speed will differ but the Cats always have both speed and size! MP has a bit more speed than we have had in quite a while as well. Could possible be a good game.

MP travels to Paris this week which was a huge rivalry many years ago. This will be the toughest test for the Tigers so far this year. Paris is coming off a impressive win against a very good Gilmer team and will be looking to end MP's win streak. (have not been able to use that phrase much recently) I am hoping for a good game for our final tune-up before district play begins. What are everybody's thoughts on this matchup?

Game Day! Very thankful for the rain but hoping for a break at least for the game!!

I was very pleased with the defense the second half against WE. First half did have me a little concerned. MP seemed pretty diverse offensively and having some speed never hurts either. Is North Lamar still a run based offense? Seemed like they were a wing T/slot T offense last year??

Week 2 is now the focus. MP coming off a good performance and playing at home again should help. What does NL have this year?
