  1. Can’t imagine UIL having that scope of authority. I would not anticipate further action being pursued by UIL, but it should. If they were deemed ineligible yesterday, then they were obviously ineligible from the beginning. Seems like leadership at all levels failed the 2 students,. I commend the DEC for standing up to address the matter. Rules must be upheld and enforced. What are we teaching our young athletes if we knowingly violate the established rules of the game.
  2. When accountability is absent and the highest level school administrator can’t make a decision without the nod of the church or Baylor alumni, this type of behavior will continue. MV is its own worst enemy. It’s absurd to think the school was unaware. Even more disturbing, school officials gambled with students eligibility. Seems they have developed a culture of “Cheat to Compete.” This is certainly not their first rodeo with UIL and I’m sure it won’t be their last.
