Just for an update on this. I have learned that Coach Kirby is back in East Texas as the new head coach of the Chester Yellowjackets. I believe he was named yesteray. Congrats Coach Kirby and welcome back to East Texas!

Jasper (20-3A) needs a game on Sept. 28 or Oct. 12 as their Sept. 28 opponent, La Grange of Lake Charles (LA) backed out on them. Anybody know of a team that needs a 10th game and has either of those dates open? If so, they can contact Coach Darrell Barbay at 409-679-2514.

It is because of the UIL rule. An athlete who is found to transfer for "athletic reasons" cannot participate in games for one full calender year from the time he enrolled in the new school.

Well, isn't the cinderella in sports parlance a team that nobody expects to do well that actually does? So I couldn't I.D. a cinderella until sometime in the season because if I pick one now, I'd be expecting them to do well. Does anybody follow that? If they do, they'll be the first.
