  1. Utah Colorado Purdue Ole Miss Texas A&M Pittsburgh Alabama Oregon UCF Ok State *Tiebreaker: Texas-Bama total points 54
  2. No arguments from me. I wouldn’t even start these polls until after week 4.
  3. It was me. They are a top 5 roster in college football. https://247sports.com/Season/2023-Football/CollegeTeamTalentComposite/ With even a resemblance of modern offense they are a without a doubt just as worthy of an early season top 10 as anyone else. Last season shouldn’t matter after the first week of games are played. If it does this “much better SDC top 10” is no more of a fraud than the media polls. There isn’t a honest football fan alive that can understand the game at a complex level in both scheme and recruiting, that watched the games this past weekend and think Texas is essentially a unanimous top 10 and A&M is not. They both have legitimate top 10 rosters, both played scrubs. A&M executed in such a way that they scored TDs on their first 5 possessions in route to their 5 star QB having the highest QBR through week one in the country. They played an almost perfect game against an overmatched opponent. If you watched both games Saturday it’s VERY hard to say Texas looked without a doubt better. You’re just basing your opinion on previous season results and bias.
  4. The biggest difference in the offense is efficiency. How many times did the playclock roll down waiting for the playcall to come in? How many times did the offense just look like it was easy and it was flowing according to a game plan rather than just a collection of plays thrown together in a book? Jimbo is not an offensive idiot in todays game. He could get into the booth and call plays and they would be fine. The issue is and has always been he couldn’t handle being a HC AND OC. This is a whole lot of BP making changes but also a whole of the team just finally getting 100% offensive effort from a staff rather than 75% because it’s spread to other aspects.
  5. It was very hard to pick 10 this week. There’s probably 15 teams I think are capable of being in the top 10 just based off of what I saw this weekend.
  6. This kid was highly recruited by Sark and Texas as well. He’s more athlete than QB but it’s still a guy everyone was after for a while. I also would hold judgement on the kid until after this weekend. If he torches Texas you might have a different feeling about him.
  7. Yea it felt good to watch the offense put up some points and yards early. Like you mentioned regardless of opponent it’s easy to see this is a different team. I also noticed much more disruption from the Dline and better run fits than last year. The team is improving. Miami next week will be a good test.
  8. Utah Minnesota Louisville Colorado Purdue SMU Boston College Cal Houston South Carolina *Tiebreaker: Haynes King passing yards for GT 274
  9. I’m not sure people wanted it, I just think those that weren’t completely against it didn’t think about some of the potential downsides of it.
  10. The oline was the worst hit group with injuries last season…. Playcalling didn’t help them but the final game of the season 3 of the 5 starters on the OL were true freshman. In fact, 7 of 11 starters on offense were true freshman that beat LSU. Some of them are not even starting now because older injured players rejoined the team after healing from their injuries. The team has much more depth than you think. They had a lot of transfers but people down realize the vast majority of them were 3rd string players and kids who were kicked off the team anyway. Only 2-3 kids of all the ones that transferred would be in the two deep this year had they stayed.
  11. They didn’t lose but 1 wr on offense to transfers and brought in 2 more from the portal. I’m with you on proving it before believing in them, but they “on paper” are as talented as most of the top 10 when you break them down position by position. It was playcalling that is really the biggest issue with their offense not the pieces of the offense. They also must stay healthy which is a big issue with the offense the last two seasons.
  12. Oh I was strictly talking about talent. I didn’t base my poll on where I think they finish. A&M is a top 5-6 talented roster in college football. I didn’t rank them in this week until I see how the offense looks next week.
  13. A&M is a top 10 team y’all just don’t know it yet.
  14. I mean who’s not close? The 8-4 lsu team that last 3 games by double digits? The Tennessee team that’s replacing basically all its offensive production? The Florida team with questions all over it? A&M coming off a 5-7 season? Ole miss? South Carolina? If you ask me is penn st good enough to go undefeated through the top half of the sec, I’ll say no. But they are more than capable of playing with all of those teams I listed. What’s “not even close” about the teams I listed and penn st in a 1 game neutral field game? Whose head and shoulders better?
  15. Penn st is just as good as anyone in the sec not named Georgia/Bama. I’d argue Wisconsin and Iowa are just as good of games as say Florida is for Georgia and A&M is for Bama. My point is when you’re at that level most games look like a “non challenging” game. Michigan is loaded. I think they are a top 2-3 team in terms of proven production coming back. Ohio st is also loaded just not quite as much imo. There’s not a team in the sec I would say “challenges” them besides Georgia Bama and maybe Tennessee offensively. Everyone else looks the same or worse than Penn st and Wisconsin who you are saying are not challenging enough.
  16. 13+ @ Bama is bold. Not saying I think Texas can’t win it but have we seen Bama get beat like that at home in 10 years? Even LSU and Burrow couldn’t accomplish that.
  17. They won’t be matched because they are good. Same with Georgia. Same with USC. You don’t see any challenges because they are that much more talented than their schedule. You can look at the exact same schedule for a team you have in your fringe top 25 team and find 3-5 potential losses. It’s because they aren’t that good.
  18. What will be funny is the people that come on here for week 2 of the season and say “did you see how dominant team X looked against (insert school of the blind) and then in the same breath discredit team Y for dominating the other school for the blind because “they didn’t play anybody.””
  19. I also laugh at some people taking roster talent into account as why teams should or shouldn’t be ranked, then give absolutely no chance to what is EASILY a top 10 roster in college football. I didn’t put them in mine either for the simple fact of I believe last seasons result should mean something in a meaningless preseason poll, but if you’re going to claim some teams have roster talent in some spots and then point to last seasons results in others you are showing a ton of bias in your ballots.
  20. Similar in my ballot as well. Plus when you have a QB and offense as good as they have, you are in every game. I know their defense isn’t great and that will affect you long term, but there isn’t a team in the country they can’t play with on a game to game basis with that offensive potential. They are a top 10 team just as much as anyone else. Now I can understand if they are not in everyone’s top 5, but they are easily a top 10 team. The bottom half of the top 10 has just as many holes in their roster or more.
  21. Lots of bias from some fans in this poll lol
  22. The spring game featured a lot of 12 personnel. (2 TEs.) I expect the position to be used effectively from weak to weak to exploit weaknesses.
  23. I’ve gotten PMs from 3 of your “piers” as Texas fans on this site talking about what a joke you are and a disgrace to the Texas fan base. “We” might not care what I think, but they don’t care about you either.
