  1. It appears that I am not the only one who thinks there is a major problem in Center Football.. Let me address some of your responses to Cfan07. Center doesn't have players because because they don't "conform to His rules". What rules? Did they not apply to certain "players" last year who cursed their own players, coaches, opposing players, refs and fans..This isn't hearsay, I HEARD THEM along with others. Even some of their own teammates remarked on their lack of respect. HE did nothing. This has nothing to do with football, but it does have alot to do with discipline and character. And the coaches talking behing his back, well these are new coaches, all the good coaches just left rather than put up with any more. The players this year played their hearts out, many should have been playing JV ball, but due to the lack of players available were pressed into playing Varsity before they were ready, and they should be commended for their effort. That is one of the major questions, why does Center have 60 to 70 players in the Junior High grades playing and when they get to high school, the numbers dropped drastically? It is definitely not the lack of ability on the players part. I think the answer to Center future lies in the hands of the parents of our elementary and junior high school students. They are the ones that will have to demand of the new superintendent and the non-athletic minded school board that they want a change for the better.
  2. Chikinhawk, your comment was "they are from Shelby County, they are different". This post had nothing to do with what I said about a coach.. So just what were you implying?
  3. You still haven't explained your comment.. If this is suppose to be some kind of explaination, it is doesn't make any sense.
  4. if your not brave or intelligent enough to explain your comment, simply say so. I'm a college graduate, ex-coach and have enough business experience to know that little minds usually have big mouths. It is no way self-explanatory, so explain your comment.
  5. I know that this does not pertain to the original post, but I am glad to see that others realize that chickin---- only likes to stir it up. Perhaps he is simply a wanna-be -athlete.
  6. Never a straight answer, only sarcasm.. You never answered my question. "they are from Shelby County, they are a little different"
  7. Chickinhawk...Although I admit this post was tough to read or understand, but would you explain your comment "they are from Shelby County and they are a little different".
  8. Chickinhawk...Although I admit the post was tough to read, possible you can explain your comment "they are from Shelby County and they are a little different"?
  9. CENTER FINAL...DIBOLL 42 TO 34 GREAT SHOWING BY THE ROUGHRIDER PLAYERS.
  10. Center down by 7 in 3rd quarter..35 to 28
  11. P&G and Chickinhawk...obviously you have not read some of my previous posts. I have stated in the past that Center has probably played one of the toughest predistrict schedules as any team in the State. I have also said that I will continue to support our players and admire the heart that they show in playing under these conditions. There are a number of people who have attended Roughrider games for years, even more years than myself, so possibly you can ask them if they feel this staff meets the needs of our team, and possibly you can make a post at the end of the season and ask others within the district who have followed football if they would rate this district as one of the strongest they have seen. There is no doubt that there is talent in this district, but I feel that the Crockett and Carthage teams are not as strong as they have been in the past. This is not a slam, just an observation. I can't say anything about Diboll, Rusk or Huntington, because I haven't seen them play. My opinions are based on what I see. As for your archives of football history in Center, I watched all of these teams and more..Powell record speaks for itself, Bryant was a good coach brought in to build up the program, he did he left. Conway was a very good coach and did have some talent in some of the years. Essary drained the athletic program as a whole for the benefit of football and still did not win. Gale Ashley had winning seasons 2 out of 3 years and was pushed out. You list the current coach alongside his name and I can assure you Gale would not like that at all. He was AD, not football coach or even an assistant. Lastly, I would like to comment on the fact that you two seem to be making this personal.. Well, for years I have supported the Riders, win or lose, for along time, even before I sent a child through the school. Not just in football, but all sports, girls and boys, from 7th grade to Varsity. I,ve worked with the boosters and coached summer leagues (for free) for many years. I love athletics, love kids and love Shelby County...Don't you ever question my loyalty again and accuse me of poisoning anything. Maybe it's your way of thinking that's got us in this current mess. This is my last post to this thread.
  12. I'm not taking anything away from Carthage for each team they have played Crockett has played just as well-can't downplay that. The matchup between Crockett, Carthage and Diboll should be good in this district.
  13. One last point to ponder: Center actually played a much better game against Crockett. They showed made some good plays especially on defense. The offense started out doing pretty well too. They have improved since Carthage-alittle different team against Crockett. Truly, Carthage wasn't very impressive on that Friday night-I expected more and not necessarily score wise but play calling etc.--maybe a down night?
  14. Why should it make you wonder when Center played Carthage the score: 34-8 and the score Center and Crockett was 35-9 - 26 pts difference either way. Maybe that will help!! I will go with Crockett Bulldogs because I have alot of respect for their program. Those kids have alot of heart. It should be a good game.
  15. P & G, your optimistic views are far outshadowed by the realistic facts..We will never be a contender with the current status of the athletic dept (in football). What determines a great coaching staff to you? We have only 1 returning coach from last years team and this staff has yet to put up a win and have allowed a ton of points to be scored, while putting up no more than 30 points in 7 games. We have less than 25 kids on the varsity and yet only about 12 are playing the majority of the plays, and alot of them are sophomores. WHY? Where are all the other players? We have no kicking game, a struggling offensive line, a defense that has given up over 290 pts in 7 games (avg. 41 per game) and all this is occurring in possibly one of the weakest districts in the area. Although I have yet to see Diboll, Rusk or Huntington play, I can say in the 27 years I have followed the Riders, I feel our district is very weak this year. (the only gauge will be how the 3 teams that make it will fair in the playoffs) Center has a chance to win 2 games, and I said a chance. But both Rusk and Huntington are down, for what reason I do not know, but I wouldn't count either of them out in beating Center. We need a FOOTBALL PROGRAM and LEADER very badly. I am not the only supporter that feels this way and I think that I am part of the majority that shares this opinion. We will continue to support these players that definitely are showing huge hearts by playing in these adverse conditions. Although I applaud your optimism, have a reality check.
