  1. Oh yeah, the penalties were legit. Kind of hard to screw up motion penalties or offsides or a receiver stepping out of bounds. The delay of game before the first play of the game was classic. I'll never understand how that one happens.
  2. If I remember right, the story is that their first football unis back in the day were somehow hand-me-downs from North Texas State. Although I may be thinking of someone else.
  3. I was sitting in the Cumby stands and the fans were all but convinced that all of the officials were JB alums. Their groans every time another flag flew were amusing. Good team though.
  4. I don't know, doesn't have to be anything strange. Presumably they lost whatever playmakers they had that made their offense tick and allowed them to win a bunch of shootouts last year. Now the offense is bad, the already terrible defense is stuck on the field getting gashed even more and the record craters. ie, they weren't actually very good last year (38 points per game? lol) but had just enough talent to paper over that fact.
  5. They have a couple really big dudes on the offensive line, but yeah, they were down 52-8 to Clarksville at one point. Doesn't really bode well for their post-Miller future.
  6. Integrity is playing by the rules ... and the rules as they exist allow for an 0-10 playoff team. Huh. Looks like Iraan's district was just four teams from the start. Crazy thing is they went 11-3 last year. Graduation must've really kicked their rears.
  7. Just got to accept it as a foreseeable consequence of the two division system. It's ultra-fair, but it means more travel and in some cases smaller districts vulnerable to some school suddenly dropping football or, especially in 2A D2, just not being able to field a team anymore. It's a self-correcting problem; one week of playoff football fixes it.
  8. Title suggests that the ex-coach reporting them is established fact when it looks like it's just speculation on the superintendent's part. Regardless, the best way not to get caught cheating is to not cheat.
  9. Don't curse at the refs, bro. When they decide to hang 'em up because they can't take the abuse, you know who ain't gonna be replacing 'em? Anyone better.
  10. Man, I would really love to be able to agree with that statement, but Clarksville's finishing fourth in the district, so, you know.
  11. People here complain all the time about scores being run up, too. Jason Herring is worse than Hitler to some of these folk. That said, the rule is really dumb. Just end the game at the half if the margin is 42+ at the half or becomes such at any point in the second half.
  12. Hard to say. My blood has thinned considerably over the years and so I'm freezing my rear off at most games later in the season or in the playoffs. Maybe the New Boston - Daingerfield game in Mt. Pleasant a few years ago, the one New Boston won. ISTR the wind at the Commerce - Sealy state title game in Waco was pretty relentless and uncomfortable.
  13. That’s a thing our kids do on the regular basis, you know, they try to change jersey numbers and sometimes don’t let us know,” said Gregory.
  14. Whaaaaaat? So now the coach is saying that he didn't know the kid had to sit out a game and the fact that he wore a different number and his stats were credited to another player was just an amazing coincidence. What a dumass.
  15. I mean, if they're cheating to win the all-important first game of the season (?!), then yeah, they've probably gotten quite comfortable massaging the rules in various ways.
  16. Thought it was an interesting decision by Waskom to score the late touchdown even though they were seemingly in a position to kneel out the clock; if something had gone awry with the point after try DK would've gotten the ball back with it just a one score game. Although maybe the Waskom coaches were afraid the DK clock operator would figure out a way to overcome their kneeling; he or she was sho nuff loathe to operate the darned thing most of the whole second half ... one time after a Waskom first down the game clock didn't manage to get going again until the play clock was down to 12. Thought that was a pretty cute trick, and it was far from the only one that was done. Also I believe the last snap of the game came on what was really about 8th down.
  17. I was on the home side and it sounded like the speakers were somewhere off in the distance, so maybe he does.
  18. I just hope it's the great game everyone expects. If so, the hassle is plenty worth it. With my luck it'll be 35-0 at the half.
  19. Is that really when they open? Thank you if so, that's incredibly useful to know. I'm aiming to get there between 4:45 to 5. I would like to think two and a half hours plus early would be good enough to net you a parking spot, but I guess we'll see.
  20. So how early would you guys reckon one should get there if one hopes to get a seat?
  21. I saw Chisum a couple weeks ago and they got some big dudes on the offensive line. Obviously not a very good team just going off their results to date, but they do have some pretty decent size.
  22. Yeah, as a neutral planning to crash this shindig, I would also appreciate an answer to this question.
  23. I think Sessums is a good player, but this game shouldn't be competitive. Rivercrest by ... a lot.
