  1. Pretty decent team and I think they have a good shot at making the playoffs the way things are shaping up but they'll get steamrolled by Ganaway like everyone else in district. If I was a Dekalb fan I wouldn't concern myself too much. For Clarksville fans the next two weeks tell the tale with respect to the likelihood of postseason play.
  2. Are you kidding? Redwater's been outscored this year 209-48. Daingerfield will roll.
  3. As well they should. After all, they only have 700 kids. Big 'ole mean Gilmer, they got what, almost 660? 670? That wouldn't be any fair. How could Cuero possibly compete faced with a negative thirty student deficit? The system will work as intended.
  4. Oh brother, I knew it. How cliched was the winning score? QB keeper so they could show the backup's toughness and emerging leadership skills? Or some crazy gadget play?
  5. I've been waiting for someone to pull a Beano Cook and predict three Heisman trophies. C'mon Twentytwo, you're right there knocking on the door. You know you wanta.
  6. Saw Texas High a few times last year, including the bi-district game against Highland Park. Mallet's very impressive, great arm strength. Pretty good basketball player too. Can't wait to see him and Clausen battling on Saturdays the next few years.
  7. Okay, so I take back what I said about everyone in town having Hollywood looks.
  8. Nope. The last primetime show centered around high school football that NBC did stunk. I'm sure everyone in Dillon TX is smokin' hot and every tackle sends a body or two flying twenty feet through the air.
  9. Rivals lists him at 5'8" 153 and says he runs a 4.64 40. I doubt that has anyone salivating.
  10. Excerpt from an article at www.timeswv.com about McCoy's big night: Matewan coach Yogi Kinder defended his decision to keep McCoy in Friday's game. "Why should there be any guilty feelings?" Kinder said. "Our school's smaller than they are. Why should I punish my kids for having a pretty good team? We were going to score 60 points if Paul doesn't even get on the bus." [....] Kinder, who also teaches driver's education at Burch, said he'll have no problem going back to work. "I show up every Monday after we beat them," he said. >>
  11. Per an article at wvgazette.com, the previous West Virginia high school state record for rushing yards in a game was 537, set by ... Paul McCoy himself, in Matewan's season opener!
  12. Per the MHSAA website, Tawas has an enrollment of 545. Well, I have no dog in this fight, I guess if they feel they don't have enough kids and it's a dangerous situation then there's not much to be said about it. But the article made it seem like the ones who were out there wanted to keep playing, so for them I feel bad.
  13. Cite please. Per the Michigan High School Athletic Association Oscoda has an enrollment of 539 and plays in class B, which if I'm reading the data correctly is the second largest classification in Michigan. Per city-data.com the entire school system has approximately 1700 kids. The MHSAA website also lists only one Oscoda. Are there two such towns?
  14. Per the US Census Bureau, Texas (population-wise) is like 6.5 Oklahomas (22.8 mil vs 3.5 mil in 2005). 15.4% of 375 = about 58. ;)
  15. Dekalb by a couple of touchdowns. This game is probably for the district title.
  16. Per the Alabama High School Athletic Association website, they're 6A with an enrollment of 1639.
  17. What about level of competition? I wasn't yet born when Campbell was finishing up his high school career (and I mean no offense to David Overstreet who was a legitimately great player), but if class B then is equivalent to class A now, I gotta think The Tyler Rose would fared pretty doggone well down there.
  18. Then the other coach could have countered by telling his players to run the ball out of the back of their own end zone. Seriously, why not just have a real 50 point rule then? You fall behind by 50 points, the game ends immediately. No hurt feelings, no panel discussions on whether to suspend somebody, less wasted time all around.
  19. It was 35-34 Little Elm. Paris missed an extra point with 3 minutes to go that would have tied it.
  20. My guess is both. Both of Cooper's losses have been blowouts, and their lone win was 7-0 over Harmony. Wasn't there a coaching change at Cooper?
  21. There was an interesting series of plays in the second quarter where in a fairly small amount of clock time North Lamar managed to lose fumbles at their own 1 and then on their next possession at New Boston's 1. Other than that bit of excitement it was a pedestrian game that North Lamar controlled from start to finish.
