  1. Former West Rusk Raider Matt Morton is #39 for Iowa State Cyclones who play Texas A&M on October 31 in College Station at 2:30pm. Matt starts on special teams. We would love to see everyone there! The Cyclones defeated Baylor this weekend and you can read about it as well as view the names of the other Texans on the team at: http://www.cyclones.com/SportSelect.dbml?D...amp;SPSID=48323 The players get off their bus 2 hours prior to game time if you want to see them before the game and after the game they can talk to you before they get on the bus.
  2. Matt started practice yesterday his number is 52 and he's playing linebacker.
  3. Hey I just wanted to update the Raider fans and everyone else about Matt............. it was official today that Matt is on the Iowa State Football Team! If anyone knows how to get in touch with Coach Dolan from Rusk; also Coach Hightower, Coach Locke and Coach Albritton, former coaches of West Rusk, please pass the info he would really want them to know.....I think we got all the numbers for the other coaches he has had. Also if anyone knows former Head coach Reid Waller from Henderson, Matt would really want him to know too.... he was really good to Matt. That puts 2 former East Texas 19 2A players from last year on Iowa State's Football Team! Sedrick Johnson from Arp Matt Morton from West Rusk
  4. Hey thanks for the info and background on West Rusk, I was wondering myself, and Dirtybird, thanks, we will be pulling for yall too, go give em heck!!
  5. Hey Thanks Dirtybird........... I liked seeing the interaction that the players had with each other after the game. There were a few that you could tell had so much respect for each other.........just like old friends........great sportsmanship between the 2 teams!! It was great to see!!
  6. The game was great the first half, even missing 2 of our starters from injuries, but then when we lost 2 more starters from injuries, just too much to hang for second half without them. Still a great game, and I wish good luck to both teams for next week! Congrats Tatum! You have to hand it to the Raiders, they gave you a good game!
  7. My vote is for the WR QB.............. all-around player, leader..........
  8. These posts are so funny.....................go back and read last years posts when it was Troup and tatum, funny funny, and what happened there??? hmmmmm  just sayin.................
  9. This is a no-brainer.............. Coach Frazier of West Rusk......... do the research, easy choice!!
  10. Whew, we survived to be able to get ready for Tatum and all their D-1 prospects......... now Tatum can also get ready for our D-1 prospects..........I hear we got one talking to University of Houston and Iowa, got another that is deciding between University of Pennsylvania, Dartmouth, Columbia, Stanford, Harvard, Air Force, and I can't remember the rest. That is just all seniors I know about........ I suspect there might be more getting looks before it is all over with. 19-2A is just a great district!!!!!
  11. What is different at West Rusk??? Those kids that were young are now Seniors! 13 seniors strong!! They have game experience, and now they have coaching stability. They don't have to worry week to week about who their coaches are gonna be and what kinda crazy mess defense is gonna happen. There is stability with knowledgable coaches and a very united coaching staff. The talent and heart has always been there, and now they are experienced seniors with discipline on the field! By the way, I saw another post on another thread that said something about move ins. There is only one move in for this year, that was a running back, who does contribute, other than that, this is the EXACT same starters from last year, (minus 3 seniors from last year). There were a few of us trying to speak out last year about the talent that is at West Rusk, and now we see!
  12. You wanna know what happened?? I will tell you what happened.......... 2 of our key players had off nights on offense, not normal for them, it happens, our line was flat, and some freak things were happening that doesn't usually happen. Then we have 5 kids limping on the sides with ankle issues. c'mon, boys ......think ahead..........tape em up, brace em up, be prepared......... be preventative!! Don't wait until you have a twisted ankle to decide maybe you should do something to keep it from twisting??? It is football, think ahead to prevent all the injuries you can! The whole team started off flat this game...............the pep rally was flat, the whole atmoshpere just seemed off the whole day, until the second half!! THE next thing, Garrison stepped up! Their defense had size and strength and they are hard hitters! They were on and we were off! What saved us.......... we are disciplined, we have heart, and we have the desire to win!! That was good for us though, got that out of our system, now we know to get back to our high spirited ready to go attitudes on Fridays! Go to work Raiders!!!!
  13. Looking great down here darkman! The gang says hey! All is healthy, grades are up, and you wouldn't believe the amazing attitudes! Wow we are proud, win or lose! BUt it sure is fun to win, lol! :happy65:
  14. I know that WEst Rusk won last year vs Garrison, but does anyone remember the score??? I will make my prediction after I find that out.
  15. Raiders keep it up! Raiders 50 Garrison 14
