  1. Christ was whipped, beaten, and tortured for our sins, willingly giving His life for us. He now sits at the right hand of the Father in resurrected power. If "Buddy Jesus" is your perception of Christ then so be it, but it's not mine. I asked ScreamingEagle an honest question, I appreciated his response, and you pile on. I didn't intend to offend anyone, and will apologize if I did so.
  2. I had it coming. I got smart-alecky with you and I apologize.
  3. How did you know I was bald? "God only created so many perfect heads; the rest he covered with hair."___author unknown
  4. You say it's false and don't even know what speaking in tongues is?! That's PRICELESS! Check your COC apologetics website and see what they say about it LOL
  5. There is another way to picture Him (Revelation 19:11-16) 11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp[g] sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS." I think Christ will lose his "Buddy Jesus" image at that point.
  6. Except in the case of Cornelius and his family. Cornelius' household received the Holy Spirit (with speaking in tongues)while Peter was still preaching to them. There is no scriptural record that he laid hands on any of them. Read Acts 10:44-46.
  7. Secession from the U.S. is unnecessary. The federal government will financially collapse on its own. Having a trillion dollar deficit each year and an increasing national debt that will soon be over 18 trillion dollars (after the debt ceiling is raised again) is not sustainable. The federal government will implode from within without the states having to leave for it to happen. The congressional panel's failure to come up with even 1.4 trillion dollars in cuts put the writing on the wall.
  8. Clinton was president when the Community Reinvestment Act was signed into law. The Clinton Administration encouraged making these sub-prime loans that gave mortgages to people who normally would not be considered for approval. My source is the New York Times, not one of those right-wing sources you always accuse me of using. http://www.nytimes.com/1999/09/30/business/fannie-mae-eases-credit-to-aid-mortgage-lending.html From the N.Y. Times article: "Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits."
  9. I have noticed that the quality of food (and service) has declined at Applebee's during the past year.
  10. Thanks for answering my question, ScreamingEagle. Sorry for the misquote.
  11. badblackcat, I am impressed with your attention to detail. You do a great job in your analysis of the Cowboys.
  12. In the context of your flippant avatar of The Saviour doing that silly gesture, and you using the phrase "Jesus Jumping Christ" in one of your past posts, I have this question: do you attend church for only social reasons? I'm just interested in your mindset, and it would help me understand why you go to church at all.
  13. He was a confederate cavalry commander during the civil war. He once accidentally rode into the Union lines, grabbed a Yankee soldier to use as a shield, and fought his way back to his own lines, dropping the Yankee off after he was through with him. He was the founder of the KKK after the war.
  14. Tubberville has a really quick left hand if he can pull off the guy's headphones and slap him in one motion. There was no slap at all.
