All playoff games are pay-per-view due to UIL regulations. You will have to get a subscription to NFHS network. You can stream audio only for free though. The subscription is worth it to me though if you can't make the game. It gives you access to pretty much every playoff game in the state and you can go back and watch older ones too.

I saw where Coach Dunaway isn’t coming back to Marshall next year. I’m a little surprised honestly. I know they had a down year this year but last year they went 3 rounds deep. Always felt like Coach Dunaway got the most out of his kids. Is this the new AD wanting to bring his own guy in? Anybody know anyone that might get a look at this job? Marshall is a very tradition rich baseball program and now they have great facilities. Seems like it would attract a lot of great candidates.

I think that is a good schedule for Marshall. Since there is not currently an AD in place who was responsible for making the non-district schedule? At least the new coach will have that part taken care of when he gets the job.

I looked on the district website just a little bit ago. It lists the salary range from $82k-$118k. Seems a little on the low end to me... I wonder if that is up for negotiations and/or if it might turn some potential candidates away. $118k is nothing to laugh at but wasn't Griedl making $120k?

How is everyone's sub varsity teams doing? I know it has been a rough start for the varsity teams but is there any talent coming up the pipe that might indicate the district will be stronger (if it stays together after re-alignment) in the coming years?

Interesting that Marshall is keeping McKinney North and dropping Carthage. I'm sure Carthage will be scrambling for games again because I believe they lost three to 5A teams last year that they couldn't replace. COVID has made the scheduling a mess these last two years.

I'm curious Mavchamp when is the last time Marshall didn't make the playoffs in either basketball or football in the same year? Seems like they have always been able to make it in one of those two sports even if the other was down.

Maybe a certain very very successful DC who has ties to at least one of the higher ups in admin........

Home/Neutral isn't the same as true home and home. Since the game wasn't actually played at WOS home field there is no return trip mandated by WOS. The details will have to be sorted out on a site if these two teams meet in a few weeks.

So Carthage should most likely get Silsbee in the second round right? Any idea on if a location has been discussed? I would think maybe Lufkin?

I've seen Carthage play twice this year and both times this kid made just about every play. He plays fast and runs well. I wonder if he has any offers yet???

I will be interested to see how competitive Center can keep this game. I feel like this is their best team in a few years. Their RB is a load and can cause the Carthage defense some problems if they don't wrap him up. I think Carthage should be able to score a lot against Center. We will see if all the hype about Center is justified this week. If they can keep it within 17-21 points it will be a good night for Center.

I saw on New Caney's roster that he is just a sophomore too. Big things coming from that young man. He ran the ball HARD all night long.

Correct me if I'm wrong but NC's LB didn't play last week did he? I thought I saw him on the sideline in a jersey. Not sure if he would have made a difference or not, but I think he was out.

I feel like this is a three team district and everybody else is playing for 4th. We will know a lot after the first two weeks as Carthage plays Center and then Jasper to open things up. It'll be interesting to see who finishes 4th. Right now my pick is Rusk.

Give me Marshall in this one, by two touchdowns. New Caney is losing a lot through graduation and transfer. Add in the fact that they are making a long drive, under a new system, with no spring time and I think Marshall will win comfortably. As long as Marshall doesn't make too many mistakes I think they will prove that they are the better team. My guess is by the end of the season New Caney isn't in the post-season. They have reaped the benefits the past two years of being in a district with HISD schools. That is no more with Lufkin, College Station, and the Magnolia schools all waiting on them come district. Marshall gets a much needed early win and gets ready to defend their district title.

If Henderson wants to play I'm pretty sure there is a school right up hwy 79 that would gladly take a game......

Yes from what I've been told it will be the Carthage JV against Waskom's varsity. I don't think Carthage is playing any of their juniors that are on varsity down on the JV for tomorrow.

I saw Kaufman scrimmage Kilgore this past week and was not impressed. They are small and undersized, especially on defense. I would look for the RB from Lindale to have a big game and Lindale to win big.
