  1. Sure it is............The UFC didnt loose fans just because of him. Their are to many to follow that we love. And think of all the non watchers that have tuned in a little just because of the Lesnar issue. I think its great for the UFC.........

I dont need to be lectured on its negative impact of course, but I have no doubt that it did something more for it.

To the 'non watchers', Lesnar solidified in their minds that MMA is a joke rather than a sport.

  2. Good job....now let's move forward.....The New Testament teaches that when we give, we should not give expecting to receive anything at all in return EXCEPT God's heavenly blessing.....we shouldn't go around blowing our own horn, so to speak....when we give, it shouldn't be out there in the news for everyone to see....That is all explained in Matthew.

We are also to give cheerfully...God loves a cheerful giver......

    Your question IS answered.......AGAIN.....

Thank you. I suppose I misunderstood your comment a page or two back.

  3. He's not avoiding it..........

"But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly."

    Mathew 6:3 NKJV

Sure he is. Otherwise, he would post a yes or a no.

The scriptures you cite are NOT speaking of tithes.

  4. Then, Blue, you are contradicting yourself. So "NONE of the tithe is returned," but then you write that if Medman doesn't deduct his tithe, then "he isn't taking all of his available deductions, provided he itemizes" - which would result, theoretically, in receiving a portion of his tithe in the form of a refund check.

    Which is it?

Medman isn't against taking available deductions; he just chooses not to take this one - just as my husband and I have chosen not to take it. Isn't America great? We can still make this choice.

To sorta stay on topic: Tell me, BTW - would you have let either of your children stay the night with MJ?

Geez... The taxes on the tithe are returned by 'Caesar'. The church keeps the entire tithe, not theoretically but actually.

If he doesn't claim an available deduction then he isn't taking ALL available deductions... as you aren't. This isn't that difficult. It's, in fact, quite basic.

Neither of my children would spend the night with any adult.

  5. Medman, my husband and I have always paid our tithes in cash. We wrote a somewhat large check one time at our church in San Antonio and promptly had a visit from the preacher. We were so uncomfortable about that "recognition," that we have paid cash ever since. It is strictly a personal preference.

I refuse to be goaded into believing that I have to show a record of my giving just so it doesn't look like I'm hiding something from God. How ludicrous that is! Sheesh - you can't hide anything from God. He's omniscient.

Oops ~ misread - "preventing people from knowing what they aren't giving rather than what they are giving." Why do I care what people say of my giving?

As far as paying tax on what a person has given the church, yes, he/she did. It depends on one's income as to how much of that "tithe" one gets back.

Where did Medman write that he wasn't interested in taking available tax deductions (children, for example)? He's discussed tax loopholes being taken to an extreme, but ... maybe I missed where he was against taking available deductions. He chooses not to take a deduction for his tithe. What's the big deal?

    Is someone goading you?

No matter the income, NONE of the tithe is returned.

If MedMan doesn't deduct his tithe, he isn't taking all of his available deductions, provided he itemizes. Regardless, he said he doesn't. I have no idea how you missed that.

    Is there a big deal?
