  1. I was at the regional qualifier meet in White Oak today and saw a kid from Overton win the discus with a throw of 175ft 1in. That's pretty impressive.
  2. How did the Overton girls do at the State meet? Did they have any good lifters?
  3. I heard that the Overton girls powerlifting team got second this weekend. I also heard that they had a 132lb girl win the overall 1A-5A State Championship.

  11. After this weeks region three post It looks like Overton could have the best powerlifting team in the state.
  12. I heard Overton had a two hunderd and two pound lifter squat 700 hunderd pounds at the Palestine meet.
  13. I have been around powerlifting and bodybuilding for over 20 years, and it took me over 10 years of hard training to realize that I was over training. As for powerlifting, if you train your squat, bench, and deadlift once a week you will get stronger than training them two or three times a week. I would train my squat and deadlift at least two or three days apart, so that I could get a quality work out on both lifts As for squat, every high school gym that I have been in the weight lifting coach has let the lifters do a half squat, which is also known as a “sissy squat“. You get very little out of a half squat whether you are a powerlifting or you are training for football. You wont be able to squat as much weight doing a full squat, but by going deeper you will get bigger and stronger thighs, gluts, and hips.
