  1. Sounds like if that were the case you would be playing UCONN.... you would be in for a long night!!! Seriously though even if you had 4 Girls that were Strong 3 point shooters it is very rare they are all on in the same game. Normally a Girl 3 point shooter if she hits her first one she will continue to have a good stroke for that half but if she misses her first one then normally she will be cold for the half. Also in "most" cases she is looking for that shot and not a threat to drive so I play a in your face Man defense.
  2. Pittsburg has a really good coach who coaches her team up, my bet is she will have her team ready to play Friday. Henderson shot the ball real well from the outside against S.H. if they shoot as well Friday should be a very close game.
  3. I have to mention something else, I appreciate your high regard for Kayla, she plays hard and is a good solid player, and you were very gracious complimenting S.H. in your text. My opinion of our play last night: I thought the entire team played great. They all played their roles. Sanders is a hoss and a true scorer, if she is not rolling we are not as good of a team, When she is rolling and we move the ball around the court and are patient we are tough to beat. Sanders creates oppurtunities for the rest of the team because the opponent has to watch her so close. Self's offensive role is to take advantage of those opportunities and knock down shots, she did that last night. I really thought Autrey played well she makes shots all over the place so she is a tough matchup. Manley rebounded the ball well and knocked down shots. Womack moved the ball well and took two shots which made Bullard worry about her shooting the outside shot, Blevins played hard nose defense and grabbed some tough boards and knocked down both her shots. Jackson and Volzske stopped penetration on the defensive end. Yes we shot lights out but everyone did their job and therefore the entire Team had success.
  4. Let me start off by saying I don't really care about this argument in the least. It matters none to me. Basketball is a team sport and the S.H. Ladies played outstanding last night as a team. The entire team was on fire and yes they wanted it badly. I thought Sander's play was flawless in scoring and getting her teammates open looks. This group of Seniors together had never beaten Bullard but Big Fan's statement is correct, Sanders and Self both played their Freshman year and beat Bullard 47-43, both scoring 10 points in that game. Sanders blew her knee in a preseason tournament and did not play the entire Sophomore season. Self was the one injured her sophomore year and only played against Bullard in the first meeting, she sprained her ankle at the end of the Tatum game prior to the final meeting with Bullard. Sanders Blew the other knee in the same preseason tournament her junior year and missed that entire season as well. The fact is those two, Sanders and Self, have played together in three games against Bullard and have won Two of them. As I stated in the beginning basketball is a team sport and this argument has nothing to do with me but the facts are as I laid them out.
  5. Should be a good game. S.H. will need to shoot better than the last time they met. I hope it is a good ball game, it ought to be!
  6. Thanks for the nice comments, I do know #12 hates to lose and she really hates to lose against Minta. I hope that comment is taken the right way, she dosen't dislike her but has respect for the time and work she has put into the game and her ability to put that work into action. Bullard is a very good team, they move the ball well and can shoot it from the parking lot. #23 sees the floor extremely well and she will make you pay on the backside if you are being lazy. In my opinion if you are going to beat Bullard you have to contain #23's penetration which in turn does not give #32 as many good looks. It also decreases #25 and #15's production. I felt like S.H. gave away too many points in transition and they didn't shoot well enough from the field or the stripe. The good thing is we get to do it again tuesday night. Good luck to Bullard you have a good BBall team.
  7. LE is a good quality team with one player who is destined to play Division One ball. The surrounding cast plays good fundamental Basketball and takes care of the ball and gets it in the girls hands that need the ball to score. They are very well coached. I agree, you have to be patient and can't get in an out of control game with them, if you do you play into their hands. I wouldn't press them, they are patient enough and they get the ball to open shooters who wouldn't otherwise hurt you. I would play man defense and help on #20. I think if you do that you eliminate easy points from the supporting cast, #20 is still going to get hers but the total points you give up will drastically decrease. I fully expect them to be in the Regional Final Game, in that Regional Final we will see if a team has enough patience to play their game instead of LE's game, if so it should be a close contest decided in the final minutes.
  8. I agree Cowboy, They are the best team we have played this year and I would say they are the best team we will play the rest of the year. They are so well coached and disciplined, they can beat you outside and inside, they rebound like Dennis Rodman, and they are are physically stronger than any team I have seen. The S.H. girls made too many mistakes and their shots did not fall but that is a credit to the tough defense Southwood played. I told my girl she played hard and did her best and she never quit, I hope you told yours the same. In my opinion we have played the best so its downhill from here, we just have to put the lessons learned into action and correct little mistakes each game. Please understand there are alot of good quality teams out there so it is not a knock on any team by my reference of Southwood being the best team we will play, it is just my opinion.
  9. I hope we do get to play yall in Tyler, we need to play as many strong teams as we can to better prepare for down the road. Kayla has had some good games but she did not play well in L.E. game, she realizes she did not have a good game and showed up at the gym the next day and worked hard. From what I have read Bullard seems to be very good so glad we have yall on the schedule. We have another game with Southwood in Lousiana on Monday, they are a very good team and difficult to match up against inside. Take Care and will see you in Tyler.
  10. L.E. deserved to win this game, S.H. did not play well enough to win. S.H. committed way too many self imposed turnovers. They played hurried basketball. L.E. has a good solid team and are very well coached. #20 is the real deal and has one of the purest jump shots I have seen in High School Basketball, boys or girls, she is also a pure athlete, she is going to get her points. S.H. allowed #44 way too many open looks and she drained them, they will have to reduce her points if they meet again. I do believe if they meet again S.H. will be better prepared for the game and I believe it will be a close contest with either team having a shot to win the game in the final minutes.Congratulations to L.E. on the win and I hope we get to play again this season.
  11. Havent played them that i'm aware of, I know for sure we haven't played them in the last 5 years. Sanders had a great all around game.
  12. Spring Hill opens up with LE there on Nov. 12th, I'll let you know how good they are, I expect them to be very solid and they are not in V.Ball playoffs so they will be at full strength! We play them at home on Dec. 14th again, glad we get to play them twice it will only make us better.
  13. S.H. has not been filled yet and have no clue what they are doing. It seems it is getting a little late in the hour though!
  14. To answer your question about the talent pool at Spring Hill in Girls sports Here is a summary:The girls Track team will be going to State in Austin in the Following events: 100 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles, 4x100 Relay, 4x200 Relay, Pole Vault, 200 And 3200. 7 Girls will be competing. The Girls Softball team made it to Austin last Year for the State Tournament. In tennis we had one girl compete at the State tornament this year and last year. Girls basketball presently has two girls that have both made first team All East Texas and a third girl who has been injured the past 2 years who is being recruited by many schools. My point is sometimes opinions are thrown out there when people have no understanding of the topic. I believe Cowboy1 was saying records and making the playoffs when accessing Coachs is not always the only indicator. In todays world any decent team makes the playoffs, THEY TAKE 3 FROM EACH DISTRICT! That being said, I would like to point out that I know Coach Duncan and I have a tremendous amount of respect for him as a man. He has always truly cared about all his players. He has shown nothing but Class on the court. I trust that Cowboy1 feels the same, he is simply pointing out there may be more to it than district record.
