Jermie actually qualified quite comfortably. I know that as fact. Old info was circulated early on that was completely incorrect. He is doing great as a football player and as a student. Thanks.

Thanks for all of the great posts. Jermie is doing great at OU. Redshirting was absolutely the best thing that could have happened to him this year. It is by no means a reflection of his abilities nor his future. He and JJ will both be great at OU and he understands that the college journey is a long one and that he also was just rewarded another year of education. In the end that is really what it is all about. Thanks.

Van has been a pleasant surprise this year. Should be some great district games.

Tucker of Chapel Hill - where's the love?
Lovethegame replied to mightor's topic in High School Sports
One thing to remember is that a truly gifted athlete won't need anyone to pave his way for him. Let it play out on the field. From what i've seen of Tucker he won't need your help. -
The Lady Vandals are looking pretty good this year so far. They beat Grace Tuesday night by about 15 and they also beat hawkins tonight by 20 so they are now 2-0. Look for them to be big contenders for the playoffs this year. Its gonna be another fun season!

Tucker of Chapel Hill - where's the love?

Wow! I know it is a statement that keeps being repeated but here goes: They are two different backs with two different running styles and they have played in two different offenses. Just as Jermie has, Tucker will pave his own way and no doubt will be very successful in the future. -
One thing that we as fans never do enough is thank all the athletes for all of the joy that we get from watching them compete. To Jermie and all of the senior athletes, thanks for all of the hard work and dedication. No doubt you will all be successful at whatever you do in the future. It has been awesome.

Go Get'em RED. I say that vandals win this one 35-21. I hope Calhoun goes off on them.

Great post. I feel that both will do very well. Best of luck to both of them. They are both great athletes and fine young men. -
Great post. I have to agree on the train wreck. Lots of things to improve on. Bullard will definitely be a force to deal with in the future. Good luck to both.

Van's Jermie Calhoun ranked #2 running back in nation

In regards to the point that there are kids out there that get overlooked I would have to agree with you. I guess it is just one of those things that can't be helped. Recruit rankings are just educated assessments of the present and future abilities of athletes. All one has to do is to look at many of the successful athletes in pro sports. Many went undetected while in high school and were not highly ranked. I guess from my perspective I try to be more of a positive person and just be glad that one of our own is fortunate enough to be blessed with the opportunity before him. Nothing good can come from me questioning a recruiting service or a college coach's opinion. The cream will usually rises to the top in the end. -
