  1. No one, especailly me (barformet and etgolf) will ever question what Mr. Nelson has ment to golf and to being the kind of man we all should be and would hope our boys will grow into. With that having been said, the greens kept them away and at their level of play that is a good reason. It will take a concerted effort by tour pros to get them back and DFW has a lot of them that will help in a big way. The Nelson will never be the same. It can't be. What Byron did for it is not measurable, however the Salesmanship Club will persever and the monies they raise for charity is only a portion of Mr. Nelson's legacy as far as the tournament goes. He also was a staunch supporter of junior golf as well and his Byron Nelson Junior Tournament will continue on featuring the best Texas has to offer.

    Wow!!!!

I don't think the monitor knew the game......if it really was monitored....you don't go from 65 to 117 two days in a row, 9 iron and putter and he could break 90, if he is capible of shooting 65
  3. bafromet

  10. from the Tyler Paper........ Edgewood Dominating 20-2A Golf Tournament YANTIS - The Edgewood boys golf team appears set to make yet another appearance at the regional tournament. Paced by five individual scores in the top six, Edgewood's Purple team fired a 304 to take a 48-stroke lead after the first round of the District 20-2A tournament Tuesday at The Links At Land's End. Quitman Blue finished the first round in second with a 352, followed by Edgewood Gold, which shot a 353. Edgewood's Brett Perry (69), Dillon Phillips (73) and Justin King (80) own the top three individual spots on the leaderboard. Quitman's Carl Jordan fired a first-round 81 to sit in fourth, while Edgewood's Michael Waites (82) is in fifth and Calvin King (84) is tied for sixth. In the girls division, Kelsey Kirkpatrick used a dominating first round to sit 24 strokes ahead of second place on the individual leaderboard and put Alba-Golden eight strokes ahead of Edgewood. Kirkpatrick posted a first-round 75. She is followed by Como-Pickton's Christina Sandate (99) and Hannah Manverse (116) to round out the top three individuals. Alba-Golden fired a 494 as a team. Edgewood (502), Como-Pickton (518) and Grand Saline (543) trail the Lady Panthers.
  11. Clark will play in alternative all star game should he want to. Incidentally, an all star game does not imply "all the stars" - it implies the ones there are all stars......does that make sense? There are multiple All star games around the state - this just so happens to be one in Tyler and I thank the Azalea Clinic for putting it on.....I'll be there for the practice and for the game.....and spend my money in Tyler at a dining establishment before both!
  12. See you out there Monday - rain is out of the forcast at this time.....high 76.
  13. Yea, I saw the scores as well this morning. There is consolation in first, but I know what she means about feeling "not happy" about the score. Tell her Big E says congrats! I max out every minute with my boys. I have two in college (home for spring break this week) and my youngest is a Senior.....shot clock working on how much longer he will be here, been accepted to A&M, but may go elsewhere to play golf. I never miss a beat to be with them and never have. I will be at VZCC for Canton's tournament Monday camera and pad in hand and will pick up the rest of the tournaments from here to State with vacation days and wouldn't do it any differently - then to the Woodlands to attempt to qualify for Ping Jr. - AJGA, Easter Week (missed qualifying by one last year). It is a major for AJGA. Have loved the road trips with my sons over the years and know the ride is almost over. www.edgewood-golf.com
  14. Small field? 8 girls and only 35 guys (15 - 18). Probably a lot of schools are in as we are. Gosh what perfect weather for golf! Hope she does good - she shot the 80 yesterday - right? What classification is she? Good luck today at Holly Tree.... I am in a two man MGA with my middle son Sat and Sun at beautiful VZCC - Championship or 1st Flight (find out today)! 36 holes with your son who is in from college on spring break - minimum 10 hours one on one - Priceless! Looking forward to it big time!
  15. Coach really can't and I wouldn't want him to on an NTPGA. The field is not very strong and not where you would pull a string if you had one to pull. Tyler paper has the field listed with their tee times - those guys do a tremendous job of covering junior golf. Bullardmom, if you get a minute drop Phil Hicks and email and share with him your appreciation of his coverage of junior golf (if indeed you feel that way). A lot of papers do not do what his staff does. We'll be in the Woodlands in early April and can only miss so much school.
