  1. I completely agree with you that this situation could happen anywhere in the state of Texas at any given time. No doubt about that, but violence breeds violence. Gang fights on campus and other horror stories come out of this place pretty regularly...so why let stuff like that continue to happen if these are the problems that plague you?
  2. If the school has had this much of a discipline problem, it's time to get somebody in there to straighten this mess out. You might have to build a new AEP building and run the risk of dropping a classification, but if you want to have school you need to get the trash out. Sad that a situation like this has to occur and the place is put into reactive mode instead of being in proactive mode.
  3. That's part of the turf of being the head guy. You have to deal with #### like that. Especially at a small school. I don't think that is an Alba-Golden problem, I think that is in every school unless you have won year after year and built yourself to legendary status. And then I'm sure that person catches flack from time to time as well. I've heard a lot of talk that the administration ran off the former AD. Who cares? Obviously not enough people care about it or the administration would be out of a job because people in the community would run board members that wanted change and the people would turn out to vote. Bottom line is, that happens more than you think it does all across Texas every year. If all you are concerned with is the football coach, you need to drive by the campus and take a look at what is going on with the rest of the district. New classrooms being built, new tennis facility, state of the art golf facility, and most importantly successful academics. It's amazing how people within some communities allow one negative thing to trash what is other wise a very successful and progressive organization.
  4. Darkside, All are excellent questions. It's going to come down to priorities within the system. If having a great football program is the number one priority of the district then the questions you ask are right on target. Winning at football takes year round lifting, bottom line! If you don't, you are going to put kids on the field that are slower and weaker than the opponent every Friday night. Of course then you get into the argument you are taking away from the basketball and baseball program by having kids lift like that day before a game or game day, etc. etc. etc. However, it all goes back to priorities within the school district. I would be interested to see how Edgewood conducts their athletic program. They have a basketball coach that is their athletic director as well, and everything seems to be working fine based on the results so far. Football made the playoffs this year, basketball will have a chance to compete for the State Championship, and baseball has been solid for several years under the current coach. I think the system that Alba-Golden has moved to works, but it takes finding that right guy to lead your football program. They obviously didn't have that in year one for whatever reason. Chalk it up as experience and do a better job with the next hire and make this program competetive.
  5. :D you're right. It was the best conclusion I could find to sum it up! You know what bothers me about you Bleeds.... I'm a primadonna and I'll admit it, but you're one too and you won't. I'll be at Fort Walton Beach tomorrow night. This global warming epidemic probably has this water temperature all messed up. :whome: I just hope the fish still bite on Sunday afternoon.
  6. Mesa Royalty Trust has set a royal table for its stockholders. The trust owns royalty interests in oil and gas properties in the Hugoton Field in Kansas, the Yellow Creek field of Wyoming, and the San Juan Basin in northwestern New Mexico and southwestern Colorado. Mesa Royalty Trust, formed in 1979, receives royalties based on the amount of oil and gas produced and sold by those drilling on the properties (BP, ConocoPhillips, and Pioneer Natural Resources) and distributes them quarterly to shareholders. In 2006 the trust had proved reserves of 7.4 billion cu. ft. of gas, and about 384,400 barrels of oil. It will be around through my great grand children's lifetime. And I'll head to the beach on that note.
  7. Five, CEO's are compensated on the performance of their management of the company. The bonus based on productivity can be worth their while if they do a good job. Same goes for all lower level employees. The whole arguement was that companies aren't going to change the way they do business if it is going to lead to that company not making as much money as the fiscal year before. They are not going to appease politicians and tree huggers if that means that at the end of the day they are going to lose at the bottom line. I think you didn't read the whole arguement on the previous post or something. And why are you so speechless that American companies benefit greatly from free trade and tax breaks? I think everyone on the forum would agree with that. And finally, I'm not sure where you were going with how many jobs your local 7/11 clerk creates or how much he/she contributes to a robust economy? I mean, I get the whole principle, but why the tangent directed at me?
  8. Five, sorry to hear that. I really don't know what my positioning on global warming has to do with financial advice. Bleeds, about 98% of my clients have never heard of Smoaky.com. They are retired and make me jealous by getting to play golf all the time at Holly Tree or traveling the world. The other 2% are in the educational field, administrators, some AD's. I'm sure they check it from time to time, but probably have better things to do then come over and read you and I rant back and forth pointlessly.
  9. Just saying if you knew anything about it you would realize it was a great growth and income purchase to add to your portfolio. And you're the one that resorted to trolling and once again trashing my clients for doing business with me. I don't come to Smoaky.com to get to know the people on this blog, I'm not looking for friends online, you may be, but it's not my style. I could care less what you do for a living, where you live, who your family is, etc. I'm here to debate the issues. When someone throws a link on here that believes Russian Special Forces moved WMD's from Iraq and not one credible source is presented to back up that fact then I am going to call you on it. Simple as that. Sorry if that hurts your feelings and you have to resort to your online friends to build your self esteem back up. I understand that's how some people operate, I'm around them every day. On another note, I'm through with this personally, let's get back on the thread of "Deserting Petraeus" and talk about how our country can be successful.
  10. Americans, exactly right! But there is a group that benefits before that. American business.
  11. You probably never heard of Mesa Royalty Trust until I just mentioned it on here. I'm still not clear what trolling exactly is.... but that's ok. And finally, 5700 posts in a span of less than a year.... is that a permanent vacation?
  12. Corporate America has a lot more power in Congress than tree huggers. How can you say that isn't the case? Who do you think free trade and lower taxes benefit?
  13. WMD's were the basis for being there. Simple as that. Honestly think about this though Bleeds. If WMD's were shipped to Syria does that make them all of a sudden safe weapons? Would that not bother you even more knowing they are in another country who President Bush called a state sponsor of terrorism which I'm sure you and I agree with him. Don't you really think if they were there that some Al Qaeda member had obtained them since March 2003? If so, why wait over 4 years to use them against civilian targets? Secretly ship them back into Iraq and use them against American troops? Something..... It just doesn't make logical sense when you just sit down and reasonly assess the situation. How about 1000 shares of Mesa Royalty Trust?
  14. Bleeds, take a look at my posts. Never advocated a cut and run tactic. Simply drew to your attention that when the house is controlled by a certain party they do things that are sometimes pretty crazy, because more than likely they won't control it the next election cycle, and global warming is simply learning from what scientists have studied. I guess now you have your Republican scientists and Democrat scientists... kind of sad huh?
