  1. I know there is a 20+ page post that covers every political issue that will be discussed during the debate I no longer live in the area and was curious if this is getting any press in the local papers or on TV By the way the Supreme Court ruling on Prayer does not mean there is a law forbidding prayer at events just mean the court believes it to be unconstitutional
  2. Never thought a football board would become an argument on constitutional law but really for the most part shows the smarts of the posters on this board. RTB is correct ifthe supreme court heard the case it would have a chance with the present court to be overturned but I doubt UH has the money to take the case to the supreme court and with the looks of present politics by the time the case gets to the court is may be a bit more leaning to the left although I have not given up the election yet
  3. There is a difference between changing the constitution with an ammendment then changing the constitution judicially which is what some activist judges try to do. One is constitutional one is not. This issue in no ways relates to womens right to vote or slavery both are ammendments. It is not written in the constitution you cannot pray at football games some judges have ruled it is unconstitutional to pray at events that are funded by tax dollars many ruling in the supreme court end with a 5-4 vote so how solid is that ruling
  4. There are no federal laws that deal with this. There is a court ruling which means if someone files a lawsuit the judge is most likely going to side with the ruling although this does not alway hold true. The federal funds issue may be the bases of the ruling if you take federal funds you must adhere to seperation of church and state. Again the only money UH will lose in my opinion is paying legal fees to defend the suit if and when filed. And as much as I hate to agree with RTB I do agree UH's lawyers will advise them to back down before goingt to court. There are those that believe if the Booster club owns the PA system and someone outside the school says the prayer it is acceptable. Hey I take my hat off to the UH admin and board because they have made us aware and 12 pages on the Smoakhouse of an issue most of us side on UH side RTB or you against prayer at school functions or are just trying to educate everyone that due to past rulings this board descison will be overturned
  5. I am just being a realist the Union Hills board and adm have done an awsesome thing. The problem is we do not elect our judges. Judges are appointed usually without any consideration to the ideas or beliefs of the people they will rule over. If Obama is pres what kind of judge would he appoint for NE Texas. (I am sure San Francisco would not be happy with judges appointed by McCain) With this in mind the ACLU will find a liberal judge Does anyone know if the ACLU will be able to file this lawsuit on behalf of a visitor. With the 8-0 board vote ACLU may have trouble finding someone local to file for I think in the Drug testing lawsuit filed against the Oregon school it took the ACLU 18 months to find someone local to file for
  6. Union Hill is OK until someone files a lawsuit. The ACLU will try to find a local citizen to file on behalf of. Even if Union Hill won the suit it is not monetary except for the hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees. My guess is Union Hill gets about 300grand a year in federal SPED and Title monies the federal goverment is not going to stop payment on these monies unless a judge rules Union Hill must cease this practice or lose federal money.
  7. I applaud UH for their stand on this issue. I am afraid of what the end result will be of this vote. The ACLU exists and is evil in my opinion. (They only support people with far left agendas) Some things to consider 1. Under the radar how many games friday night had a prayer 2. How many Coaches/ teams prayed prior to the game I coached for twenty years before going over to the darkside (administration) and would answer yes to the above what happened at your game Friday night If the ACLU moves in and fight this board action we may have more no answers in the future
  8. I see him on the field so he must be at Michigan
  9. http://theparisnews.com/story.lasso?ewcd=d03b30fb568b00d5 Article in the Paris news. Superintendent perception of football in Rivercrest would make this a tough job. I am not sure when he refers to facilities and excellent football he is talking about the same Rivercrest. When was the last time Rivercrest won a football playoff game? Some of you familiar with their facilities rate their facilities. I have alway heard they were average when Rivercrest was 1a and #### for a 2A
  10. Define playing enviroment. Not sure how that was meant? Were you at the Detroit Avery game?
  11. North hopkins and McLeod (same district) are going to battle for the region 3 1A championship. are there any other teams that should be included as contenders.
