End of 2 live qtrs Marshall 14 Legacy 7

End of controlled part tied 1 score each. Both teams scored on long passes. Live qtr to follow. Mav offense has been frustrating to watch BUT has been very vanilla and JQ/Bird havent played much at all. Slone has shown some flashes. Defense has played well so far.

Marshall and Legacy 9th grade tied 1-1. Marshall JV beat Legacy JV 1-0 and ended with a mini-brawl at the conclusion. Varsity controlled portion up next.

Their defense is too stout to try to bunch up and run right at them. Weve had success spreading them out and running with Bird and Davis. Just need to keep that going and mix in some quick passes to ChiChi and Jacory. Our defense can shut them down but can we score enough to get back in it....

Rudder strip sack Olvera and return fumble for td. 14-7. They have a really good defense and our play calling has been vanilla to say the least.

Olvera is our best option at qb by far. BUT i would like to see Bird get some snaps running some wildcat and zone reads with JQ.

I think this game will be closer than most predict. Not sure MP will win but it should be a good one.

Thats correct RogerDorn. IF we were to beat Rudder in the first round then we would play the winner of Crosby and Houston Madison. Crosby should win that one fairly easily. I think if Marshall QB Olvera is healthy then we will come in as slight favorites against Rudder. If not, probably slight underdogs. Ive watched video of Rudder and they are a pretty good team. Well balanced on offense, can pass as well as run. Their qb isnt overly mobile but can take off when he has to and throws a strong accurate pass. Their rb isnt big or a super speedster but runs hard and is quick. They spread it out to several wrs but big #88 looks to be their go-to guy down field. On defense, their dline has decent size and is aggressive to the qb. I think we should be able to run with JQ fairly effectively and if they stack the box then we have some advantages on the outside with Smith and Roberson against their dbs. Im looking forward to a good competitive game Friday night. Ready for some playoff football!

I dont think ive ever seen or might never see again another Freshman team as good as that Marshall group with Darius Jones at qb, KD Johnson at rb and Dameon Smith at wr. And they had some hosses on the line too. They were blowing teams out with ease before Darius was moved up to varsity.
