    31-4A Boys

Good post Coach. It's also very hard to play a tough game and not get the result that you want and almost immediately have to answer questions from a reporter. Many times things just come out differently and are reported somewhat out of context. Good luck to all of you in the playoffs
  2. Matt Queen [email protected] Thanks lawdog, that helped!
  3. Will do. still no luck. lawdog put me on the trail though so we'll see if it works out
  4. I'm trying to contact the Hallsville Girls Coach. Anybody know who it is or have the correct email address? Trying to confirm them for a tournament and having no luck. Thx
  5. Mansfield HS is looking for an asst boys soccer/football (i believe 9th fb). The coach MUST be certified in Science. The position just opened up a week or so ago. With it being so late in the summer I imagine that we're most likely looking for a coach just out of college or one that is out of work and looking to get back in. If you know of a friend or former player looking for a spot send them our way. MUST BE SCIENCE - NO WIGGLE ROOM! Varsity boys were state semifinalists in 2012 Head Coach is John Fazekas [email protected] Boys AC is Jeff Hulme [email protected]
  6. I could be wrong about that and BUFF right but that's how PC presented it 2 years ago.
  7. The way it was presented 2 years ago was that 3A schools that dropped to 2A already in a district would be grandfathered in. I haven't read the new language of the rule but my guess is that the rule doesn't open soccer up to 2A schools across the board. Just those that had a program and dropped. The Eustace question is interesting because they were among a few schools that dropped before this took place that lost there program (district placement anyway). Under the new grandfather rule, I wonder if they were even allowed to come back since they weren't in UIL soccer the last 2 years. That would be terrible if that's why they aren't in. I hope it was a decision that came out of Eustace and not UIL.
  8. Deadline for All Region/All State nominations is Monday night. Go to the TASCO website to nominate
  9. With money as a huge hurdle, having a money saving plan for the district will be important. You could wipe out the ref cost by having your coaches and varsity players take a ref course and work their games. That and transportation are probably the big money items. The other would be equipment. Have a plan to pass anything needed down from the HS program or share. When I was at Kennedale I started the JH group about 2 weeks after my season was over so I had a break. I didn't ask for an extra stiped. I just saw it as an investment in the future. We worked out for a month. No games because we were not allowed to travel (shot down by admin). We made the best of it.
  10. 3A/4A are announced later in the spring. 5A follows the FB/BB alignment which was released on Thursday
  11. Who got to see both teams play on Thursday? Just wondering what the match up looks like. First time in a while I haven't been able to go...both times an ET team was represented (Palestine)

  13. HAHA! Man that would have been a huge jump. I was wondering how that could happen so fast.
  14. I wouldn't say 3 Goliath's...If there were to ever be a 4A DI & DII the 3 would all be close to DII. That cutoff would be somewhere around 1450-1550 most likely. Start talking about 1000+ and 2000+ and then the #'s are a factor for sure. I would think there will be a lot of talk about #'s if KP were to win this year. I think the bigger question is how in the heck do we have a 4A school with a large 5A enrollment in the first year of an alignment? How do they grow that much since October of last year? That's around a growth of 700+ kids since October of 2009
  15. I don't have the time that sandman does for the research but I wonder how many of those Region 1 & 2 teams actually come from the DFW area. The western part of DFW are in region 1. I know El Paso has has some teams make it and win in teh last 5-6 years. I wonder what the stats would look like if you broke it down to west tx, dfw, east tx, central tx, south east tx, and the valley
  16. According to the standings above WH is in 3rd right now. Strange to count them completely out of the mix. Plus JT isn't locked in at 2nd much less a playoff spot. Who does JT, WH, Athens, and Mabank have left to play?
  17. I was originally wondering if this occurred at a game or practice. I figured that since it was brought up on Wednesday morning it was at a game. I think I would have 2 different responses depending on which it was. After reading this I'm still left a bit in the dark. Doesn't sound like a great situtaion in there. I'm still curious about the "walked off" part. Did the coach actually leave the area or did the coach leave the locker room and go to the sideline? BIG difference In my head I can see the coach at halftime getting (or already) frustrated telling the girls (loudly!) to figure out if they wanted to be a part of this or not. If you don't have enough pride in yourself, the program, the school, and the community to continue to represent us all then just leave our uniform on the bench and go join PE. If you come out of this locker room and jog back onto that field you had better come ready to go to battle and leave everything you have on the field. Etc... I would have taken about 4-5 minutes of that halftime and I would have been the only one talking during that time. When I was done, without any discussion, I would have said I'll be waiting on the sideline for all of those with the heart to finish what they started, win or lose. If you want join me then you have 5 minutes. I would have briefly told those that came out (hopefully all but really you only want those that come out) before the 2nd half started that their heart would be tested over the next 40 minutes and that this was our opportunity for a new beginning. I would have forgotten about the 1st half score and used the 2nd half to build on with my "new" team in the days to come. I think most coaches have had that general talk at some point. Our situations that lead to that aren't quite as extreme as the one described here but it still applies.
  18. Seems to be in conflict with the way UIL wrote it but at least it's in their plan and everyone knows ahead of time. No room for any complaints within the district. Personally, I'd rather just call it and take 1.5 points than play 22 minutes (I assume they are on the 3-2-1-0 point system). Wonder if this will become an issue for school districts with budget considerations. 1 team now has another day of travel and the other has to pay officials twice for 1 game.
  19. Doesn't impact me either just find it interesting. The other problem with the rule is that it allows for the possibility of weather related outcomes. If I'm attacking into a strong wind the entire first half then I lose the ability to attack the other team in the same conditions. Either way these are things that coaches should discuss and put in the written administrative plan at the first meeting. I'm curious if there's anything in their plan about suspended games. Ours basically mirrors the UIL rule but at least it's been discussed and is in writing in 2 different places so there aren't any questions when it occurs in season.
  20. This game should be over. The 2 teams should record a tie for the game and split the points. From the UIL Manual: 7-1-3 Suspended Games (If less than a half is played - unless District Executive Committee specified otherwise in writing prior to the season, the game is replayed from the start. If first half is complete - the game is over. In post season contests, a suspended game will be continued from point of suspension and played to completion.)
  21. If they completed the 1st half the game is over and the score at halftime is the final score. They should not be able to resume play today. If the game is called is the first half, the game is replayed from the beginning. UIL Soccer Manual 7-1-3 Suspended Games (If less than a half is played - unless District Executive Committee specified otherwise in writing prior to the season, the game is replayed from the start. If first half is complete - the game is over. In post season contests, a suspended game will be continued from point of suspension and played to completion.)
  22. I think there's an obivious general answer to that but there's quite a bit of missing information here. Also, based on your username, I assume that you didn't hear this directly and are getting the info from a kid which means there most likely are going to be holes in the story. Not saying this didn't happen just saying if you want a common sense opinion there needs to be more info provided about the situation.
  23. WOW! Tight race for 2nd-4th between the 4 teams. Will be fun to watch. How many more games, 3?
