    2010 Season!

People around here said the Brenham Cubs would be down this year after loosing a large senior class that had been to the state tournament 2 years on a row. But the Cubs were 1 goal away from winning the district this year and made it to the reginal quarter finals. Got beat by a good Waco University team 3-2 in over time last night. So, good coaching can over come alot of question marks, and team work can over come a lack of experience.
  3. Palestine boys went to the state tournament 3 years ago i think.
  4. Why the hate on lawless? He just coaches youngmen and appears to do a very good job of it by looking at his record. I have met him and several members of his family and they all seem to be good people to me. Has he done something to you personally or you just don't like the results he gets on the soccer field.

    Tuesday 2/16

Region 2 take a look at the Brenham Cubs. Beat the the district leader Waller last night 2-0 and now leads District 40-4A with a district record of 5-0-2 and overall record of 10-3-5. They are doing it after having lost a great senior class last year and with just a few seniors, and a bunch of under classmen this year. Way to go Coach Lane and the Cubs.
  7. I like it when teams don't shy away from competition. Lindale should be the favorite because of so many returning players, but never doubt that dual and the Brenham Cubs will come to play.
  8. Wow, just Wow! I never thought a thread i started almost a year ago would still be going. I just wanted to gig Smoaky a little and now look. People going at it over high school sports. Smoaky, thanks for removing the skates. i would appreicate a soccrer ball, but not a big deal. I reall appreciate this forum and the support you give to high school sports. Thanks. I believe soccer will gain fans as more high schools field teams and advance into the playoffs. Team traditions and rivalries will help build fan support. I do not see this as a soccer against other sports. I see this as an advantage for a high school to increase their fan supprt by adding soccer. I don't know about the rest of you, but i support all the sports at our high school. I try and attend every game i can. It sure beats sitting at home watching the tv.
  9. litig8r187, tell dd to hang in there. She has my utmost respect for going out there and fighting for her high school. I know it is not fun, but she is doing something that she will have happy memories of 10 to 20 years from now. It's just rediculess to not have a 3a division. Here is a good group of schools in my area that would make a good 3a district. Brookshire Sealy La Grange Navasota Giddings Stafford Bryan Raider
  10. my other 2cents worth. UIL will decide to get 3a schools their own division when they see money can be made. It is all about $.
  11. My 2cents: We probably have some good club players at these 3a schools that are not playing simply because they don't like getting their heads handed to them all the time. But if they had a 3a division, then I believe the participation would improve at each school simply because of a more level playing field. I know from talking with co-workers that have kids playing for 3a schools, that their kids love the game and just want a fair chance. My hat is off to any 3a soccer player boys and girls that go out every game and give it their all knowing their chances of winning are slim. Been there and done that and it is not always fun. Another 3a school in the area playing soccer is Giddings.
  12. I agree 100% toohot. Local 3a schools around here that would make a nice district are Bryan Rudder, La Grange, Navasota, Brookshire Royal, and Sealy. May have to shift some from another region, but it could be done. Give these schools more of a chance.
  13. Has the rule changed for next year where the top 4 teams in each district go to the playoffs?
  14. To Wildcats & irish13: I am #29's (Tatu look a like) Dad. His mother and I really appreciate the good things your wrote about our son. As a parent we try to teach our children so much, but sometimes our children become the teacher. On the way home late Sat. night, #29 just amazed his mother and I with his positive attitude and comments. Instead of trash talking, he started listing all the things he could do to become a stronger player for next year. The next morning I said to him that I was supprised he was able to go back into the game after his knee injury. He said it was fine, and that this was the game where I left it all on the field. Once after a club game defeat he said, "Losing is tough, but losing to a good team that shows sportsmanship makes it alot eaiser and those guys were good sports." #29 (Tatu look a like) and the other Brenham Cubs wanted to bring the state championship trophy to Brenham and make us all proud. I want them to know that they have already made us proud. I hope with their hard work, great coaching and dedication they will make it happen next year. Thanks again, #29's Dad PS. If you are a college coach, we are ready to meet with you anytime. PSS. Now as for living with 20 of them, that is another thing.
  15. Congratulations to all the teams to make it to the state tournament. You are all winners and represented your schoosl well. :happy65: Hate to see this season end. Cannot wait until next year. What do I do now. I guess go back to yard work and the house needs painting. Oh well.
