If someone would have wagered that Lindale and Gilmer would have only two wins between them going into this game, they would have made a bunch of money.

These two separate statements were posted together. Hadn't figured out how to separate them when I posted. Last week Lindale was #9. And I suggested Region 3 royalty as an alternative. 4A-D1 top 20: District 5 has four teams, including two in the top 10 District 9 has three teams, including two in the top 10 District 7 has two teams, both in the top 10 District 2 has two teams, one in the top 10 District 14 has two teams, one in the top 10 District 12 has two teams none in the top 10 District 8 has one team at #2 District 4 has one team at #8 Lindale will put whatever last night was behind them and be all business the rest of the way. I fully expect this to make four years in a row that the Region 3 final will be two teams from District 9.

So, basically it was 14 points scored in the first 3.5 periods then a game of Madden broke out.

What a great game! The old school football fan in me enjoyed that both defenses took over toward the end even though Kilgore was on the short end.

Yes, they were. I was including only teams that were currently in our district.

I checked on Maxpreps. From 2014-2019: Kilgore played in 10 playoff games, Lindale played in 4 playoff games, Chapel Hill played in 3 playoff games, Henderson played in 15 playoff games.

I went back as far as 2019 on Maxpreps. Palestine lost in the third round. Kilgore and Henderson lost in the first round. Lindale was not in the district, but lost in the first round. Chapel Hill was at the bottom of the district.

The original "District of Doom" was because of the state championships. Having said that, the last 3 regional championships were between teams in this district.

It was a cool idea.

I would put Lindale at a slight disadvantage since they play at Kilgore 10/6 and host Chapel Hill 10/13. Kilgore and Chapel Hill don't play each other until the final week of the season after an early October game with the Eagles.

So I guess there's not one this year? The website still has up last year's information.
