  1. A lot of people are picking NB to win it seems, but the Gazette has PG picked straight across the board and PG is in Smoaky's Top 10 ahead of NB, eventhough NB has performed better than PG against all 3 of their mutual opponents and NBs non-mutual loss is more quality than PGs. (NB lost by 11 to the same team that just beat L-E by 23, the same L-E team that destroyed PG a few weeks ago). But the game is at PG and NB has key injuries, so I'm really curious to see how this one turns out. Then add in the fact that PG was 5th in State and 8-0 last year until they came to NB and NB doubled them up, they might want payback on their home turf, so it all makes for a recipe of a good matchup. I'm ready.
  2. Some factors to think about. Of the 3 mutual opponents both NB and PG have faced this year, NB holds the edge in scoring differential in all 3. PG was losing to MV 29-21 in the 3rd qtr, the same MV team NB was beating 35-0 in the 3rd. PG was tied with Atl 14-14 in the 3rd, while NB was beating Atl 24-0 in the 3rd. Then they both lost to Ashdown, but NB lost by 1 pt. and PG lost by 6. And I don't know about PG but NB played all 3 of those teams on the road. Now, pt. differential between mutual opps is irrelevant, but some like to look at that. Besides that though, PG has advantages. 1st, NB has many key injuries - Reigning defensive player of the year is out and he's a beast, starting RB Rowden 2-1/2 games now and his replacement got injured tonight against Atl. Another defensive starter is out for season too. Plus, I've heard PG has no pass defense, but that doesn't really hurt them against NB cuz Barker runs it old school. If NB had everyone healthy I'd say NB would win by 21, but I don't see that happening. It'll be close with PG at home, but I think NB finds a way with their defense. Pitt's the only team all year to score over 9 points on NBs starting defense (I say that knowing NB was up 48-7 against MV late and knowing Ashdown returned an interception for a TD, which isn't against the defense, on their way to a 15-14 win)...anyway, there's my 2 cents..well, more like a dollar's worth, ha.
  3. Atl scored with minute left. NB roughed the punter, then was called for a horrible roughing the passer just for sacking him, then next play had the easy sack but was scared to cuz refs are calling stupid ####. So Atl scored, but NB basically had a shutout. 31-6 is the final though...
  4. No, Lorrance and Rowden still both out and RB Jefferson has been out as well, so Rudy's the RB now. NB is winning 31-0 with 7:00 left...
  5. This was Pitt's closest win all year, but they still won. That's the key word. Actually, I want Pitt to go undefeated in district now, give PG and LE both losses and that increases NBs chances for playoffs. NB goes small school route regardless...
  6. Don't forget NBs starting RB got hurt at MV and was out this game. Imagine Burns being hurt, just throwin' that out there. But in a perfect world with no turnovers we might still be playing in overtime. Pitt is a good and worthy team, this isn't one of those games I walk away from bothered that we lost like at Ashdown. The turning point in this game was when it was 21-14 with 4 minutes left in 3rd and NB was punting and instead of pinning Pitt at their own 20 our long snapper threw it over our punter's head and gave Pitt the ball at NBs 20. Pitt then made it 28-14 soon. Pitt is good, I didn't see any flaws in their game or game plan. Teams who win the turnover battle usually win the game. I still think NB will make the playoffs though.
  7. This was NB's first loss on their turf field, I think they were 8-0 before tonight since last year...
  8. 31-20 PItt, NB had 2 fumbles that gave Pitt a 20 yard field and snapped another over the punter's head, that all gave Pitt 17 points. So take away the turnovers and this is a different game, but Pitt is good. They have all the keys to being a good team - passing, running, good D, good kicking game. I see them winning district.
  9. Hilarious. MV got out of control with how dirty they were and the MV coach was embarassing to watch with his constant outbursts, we were cracking up at him. I really can't see MV winning a single district game or even coming within 20 points of anyone.
  10. 48-28 looks more respectable, NB seems to be playing Prevent a lot since it was 48-7, but credit MV for not giving up...looks like 48-28 is gonna be the final, NB in V formation...
  11. Crazy thing is our star running back got hurt in the first half and has been on crutches and street clothes most the game...
  12. 48-20 now. Looks like NB has been subbin backups in and out because of the blowout. Only been 1 turnover the whole game, that's good.
  13. MV just scored, 48-14 now. That's 3 TDs in the last minute...
