  1. I heard they were hiring "in house"
  2. I have heard good things about Joey and how he turned Mildred's program around! Will he clean house and bring coaches with him? This also means a new AD job is opening in Mildred. Any thoughts who might get this job?
  3. Would you be willing to travel?
  4. Thanks for clearing that up for me!!!
  5. Why did Drennon not get approved by the board? I thought it was a sure deal.
  6. I was at every maud playoff game and I thought he was great. He was fun too watch, because he was hard to catch and when you did catch him, he did not just fold, he went the extra yards. He had heart and that says more than most!
  7. I am sorry you misunderstood me. I do think coaches should take responsibilty. It is their responsibility to get their team ready and to motivate them. But it is "HARDER" to get a student ready, that has not done ANYTHING all year or since the previous season. You can not make your athletes come to workouts in the summer or go to camps. I wish we could! But you know who could, PARENTS! I was just trying to say it is hard to get kids to understand the discipline it takes to be good. Especially when you dont have that much athletic ability, you have to hit the weights and practice harder.
  8. As a coach myself, I totally agree.  You get kids that do nothing all summer long, then show up for two a days (along with their parents)  and think they should start and we should win state!  It is unbelievable!!  Not only that but you always have some kid or parent say," My kids a senior, why is he/ she not playing, he is better than that sophmore".  "He was on the "A" team in middle school".   Hello!!The sophmore went to camps and worked in the gym all summer.  Where were you?  Anyhow, dont get me started about undedicated players, who think they dont have to work hard, because they had a gift in jr. high.  The sad thing is a lot of kids do.  But then they meet girs/ boys, partying, and etc..  Thats when athletics becomes something you do only in the period or season.
  9. I hope for Mauds sake that he does stay. I know that a lot of the boys have bought into his program and that is great. I think it would make a difference to the program if he left, Maud would have a lot of dissapointed players and fans. But if it is best for him and his family than he will have to make that decision. But when you go to bigger schools you do make more money (sometimes) but you also have a lot more problems! You deal with more programs and more kids! That said, anyone who comes to Redwater will have to be motivated and change the mentality of the program. If your at a school that has had little success not just in a few years but EVER, you need to establish Mental toughness and hard work. Not just in Football, but all other sports including girls. One thing you will find that Redwater has is Pride and Spirit. Whoever, comes will just have to f ind away to channel it. Someone said earlier, Redwater did not have athletes like other shcools. They may not have as many, but they do have some. They have many kids that dont participate in Football because they do not want to get beat 40- 0 every game. I hope that whoever they hire is a hek of a motivater and a hard worker, because if their not, tradition for Redwater will stay the same!
  10. Daingerfield may have a good football program, but you would have to put up with disrespect from parents, fans, and students. I am a coach and have just coached against them. I have seen some of the worst sportsmanship ever come from that place. Not to mention if you do not win, you a long with the rest of the coaching staff will be the worst coaches ever to come through daingerfield. This is especially true if you have kids and care about their education.
  11. I guess slikk that I could say you show some character by admitting yours and others faults. I dont live in df, so ur right I dont know. But in Redwaters defense, they are not bad in all sports. In the girls program they do rather well, and in baseball not so bad. Congrads on your win.
  12. I have never posted on smoaky. I normally get on read the threads and get off. But I could not help it today. Because it infuriates me with some of df fan. A lot of you get on here everyday and talk ####. One minute you hate the coaches (they all stink), the students dont have any respect, they have no discipline, all the kids are going to HS, the school/ town is run down, blah blah blah. But when they start winning their great!! Wait until they lose a district game and the #### talking will begin again. Coaches dont know what their doing, why do they run that defense, etc etc. One thing I can say about Redwater, is that they are a school with pride, school spirit, respectful students, and a great community. They stick together whether they win or lose. They dont have a great athletic program, but the kids come out year after year and play. They may not have a lot of athletes like df, but they have good kids, that work hard and STUDY hard. You may should take a look at TAKS scores instead of the score board every week. Most of Redwaters kids will graduate high school and majority will graduate from college. Could you say the same?? By the way if anyone ever wonders why people dont like going to daingerfield because you never know what will happen or the students starts a fight with players (mostly mouthing) I have a good idea where some of them may get their mouth!!!!
