  1. Sad when rotten, greedy people try to put money ahead of the greatest sport on earth. If Posey was at the end of his career and had already earned his agent millions of dollars, his song and dance would be different. The guy showed his true color....and its....GREEN.
  2. Wasn't it Posey's agent that first brought up changing the rule the day after the injury? $$$$$$$$$$
  3. You have to remember, once the pitcher sees the side of the plate the batter is on, he will need to change his glove over to the other hand. By doing so, the batter has time to switch sides of the plate. It has indeed happened in the minors pretty recently. ESPN's E:60 did a story on it a couple years ago. See the link below from 2008 or Google Pat Venditte. http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=67641
  4. It seemed like a no brained keeping Chavez up and optioning Bourbon to aaa, but I was kinda worried Wash's love affair with Bourbon would keep him up. Good to see Chavez getting his hard earned, well deserved shot to play with the big boys!
  5. "I am still a Marshall ISD graduate and a continued supporter of the athletic program. I do not like to see the downfall of any of the Marshall programs, but I also don't like to see people waste the wide range of talent Marshall ISD has to offer on an offense scheme that caters to the best athlete. And I don't like to see an athletic director that only cares about 1 sport." I could not agree more 99. Good post.
  6. I wonder if releasing Harris will free up money to retain a couple of the coaches/teachers that were caught up in all the budget cuts last week???
  7. I haven't been able to determine my 1st game yet but I was able to nail down a couple that I was at as a youngster for sure. July 7, 1991 Ryan pitched a no-hitter for 7 innings. He gave up a hit to Dave Winfield to lead off the 8th. That was a pretty awesome game to see. Texas won 7-0. September 7, 1992 This game was Canseco's first game as a Ranger at home. They passed out stickers that said "Ole' Jose" at the gate. The match-up that night against the Red Sox....Clemens vs Ryan. Clemens got the best of us.
  8. Im not sure what the date of my first game was, but I know Nolan was pitching and I believe the good guys were hosting the Angels. I have an autographed ball from the game. Maybe I can use the players names to nail down the year. From there I should be able to figure out the date. Thanks for posting the site Cheaptrick!
  9. What do you guys think about this one? I personally like it. I always liked Kinsler leading off. Elvis should thrive in the two hole in my opinion. Young will be Young wherever you bat him. We have to stay healthy though. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...ex&c_id=tex
  10. Unless Im mistaken, WildcatsRule only posted one of Hamiltons quotes.
  11. I dont doubt Young can hit .300 as the DH and be an awesome utility guy. I also KNOW the Rangers are a better club with him in the DH/Super Utility role. I just think at 35 years old, declining skills and $48,000,000 (count all of those zeros would ya!) owed on his current contract, he should have kept his mouth shut, hit .300 at DH and been an awesome utility guy....with a smile on his face. Just my opinion though.
  12. Not exactly how I remember it... I have all the respect in the world for him between the lines. Its him as a leader I have lost respect for. He has "demanded" a trade twice now rather you remember it or not. The Rangers were loyal to him with a multi year big money contract and he demands a trade twice because they asked him to assist in improving the team!?!? Gotta respect that!
  13. Gold Glove or not, IMO Tex is the best at his position defensively. I also believe if Davis could ever get it figured out at the plate he would give Tex a run for his money defensively. I usually always agree with your post THSfanatic, we just have a difference of opinion on this subject and thats okay with me. I respect your and everyone elses opinions.
  14. No way it starts with Pujols. The discussion starts with Teixeira and ends with Teixeira. Pujols is a great hitter but certainly not a 5 tool player like Hamilton is. It takes more than bashing the ball out of the park to be the best player in baseball. Hamilton is closer to that tag than Pujols....IMO.
  15. Good post. (SDC needs a "LIKE" button as on Facebook)
  16. Michael Young reports to Spring Training and tries to put the past 3 weeks behind him...But has the damage been done? How will fans look at him now (I know of atleast one fan that has lost some respect for him) and how will his teammates view him now? Will he still be looked to as the same leader of the clubhouse or will his teammates look elsewhere for leadership? http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnerId=rss_tex
  17. I imagine the asking price will be more than what Texas is willing to give. However, Ive heard alot of people say that there only a few AL teams that will be able to match his asking/demanding price, and they say Texas is one of them. Long term deals on aging players scare the you know what out of me...even one for Pujols. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
  18. While Im not a fan of the way Young has handled this situation, I have to disagree with alot of your post. Young has been worth every dollar the Rangers have paid him (assuming athletes are worth that much to begin with...totally different argument) in the past. You cant dismiss his ABOVE average play at 2nd, SS and his offensive production. His numbers at the plate began to fall off in 09 and he continued the trend in 10 and his age showed at 3rd also. But prior to that, he has earned his money.
  19. My 7 year old baby girl is heart broken about the loss of Vladdy! She loves the guy! Im sure we will be getting tickets to the 4th of July series against the O's...and she will cheer just as loud for him then as she ever has! God I love BASEBALL!!!
  20. You have to dig his love for Young. We all have those heroes that we could never envision in another uniform. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6-ks_UP988
  21. Agreed. He cant lay off of the low and away stuff. Young can still be an everyday player in the field somewhere, I just dont think its the best idea in Texas. Young made his living in the field at taking great routes to #### that alot of other fielders couldnt get to. At 3rd its more about being quick with your reaction time and a quick first step which is the only step you get in alot of cases. Father Time has caught up with him and he doesnt have the reaction time or quick enough first step anymore. IT HAPPENS!!! If he were able to play 2nd or short (which he isnt in Texas) everyday he would be able to play back and once again utilize his strong arm and ability to take great routes in order to get ####. However, with Kinsler and Andrus in the middle, he doesnt fit here anymore. There is a fit for him at DH/utility but his pride is getting the best of him I believe. He is a very competitive guy and it cant be easy for him to accept the fact the hes aging. I think if he ends up staying with Texas he will do fine at DH/utility, get plenty of ab's and get a ring. But if he has to move on to another team, Im not gonna cry about it.
  22. I read one and a half pages before my head started hurting and skipped to the last page! LOL
  23. I agree 100%. Hes is not what he was and now its time to do something different. I was unhappy with his play last year on offense and especially on defense where his age showed. I feel like we upgraded at third with Beltre and upgraded with Young in a DH/super utility role. I think Brltre at 3rd and Young in the DH/utility makes the club better. Napoli isnt going to take that many ab's away from him....and if he does, it will be because Napoli is being more productive and the more productive guy should get the ab's. If he cant deal with a reduced role shop him around (even though he hurt us by taking it to the media) and see what we can get for him. DO NOT GIVE HIM AWAY without getting a good return on him...and I think that will be hard to do. I dont care what he has done in the past...this is about this season and winning a world championship. His reward for what he has done in the past was given to him in a really nice contract a few years back. Lets put on our big girl panties and play ball.
