  1. 14-1 That is a heck of an accomplishment. I know the expectations are high, but going to the finals is hard. Winning is even harder. The Bucks have made it look easy in the past. That was a truly great game. Way to go Bucks.
  2. Mt Pleasant beat Gilmer 72-0 in the late 70s. Running the clock is a relatively new thing in football. Both getting beat and beating someone is part of the game. It is literally why they play. If you don't want to get beat so bad, play harder. I would rather take the butt whipping and walk off the field knowing I played hard till the last second vs having the clock ran and looking like me and my whole team gave up. I can't imagine anything any worse for moral of a team. Calling the game due to the score is better than running a clock. At least the players are in control of their own destiny and know what will happen going in. If you want to keep playing, don't let the score get to a point the game is called due to the rules vs an obvious attempt to end the game early and basically giving up. Again YMMV
  3. Most kids won't play college ball. They get a limited number of plays in their whole career. Why should those plays or even chances at plays be lessoned because the other teams wants to end the game early? They work hard for years to get the chance to play on Friday night. Plus it skews the record books. In 40 years, how will future generations take into account individual team accomplishments if every team isn't playing the same amount of time? What is the difference in putting 80 points on a team vs a shutout? I'm pretty sure Daingerfield played their starters on defense in 83 to preserve their shutout streak and to set the record. YMMV
  4. The average HS football player only gets so many snaps in their whole career. Why take any them away because one team is scoring points? I think it is hilarious that no one complains about shutouts when the 1st team defense is in the game the whole time, but they will whine about 2 or 3rd teamers scoring points in the 4th quarter. lol Running the clock isn't fair to the players. They all work hard for the opportunities to play. Limiting the number of plays in an effort to artificially keep the score low isn't fair to either team's players.
  5. So they should just not play football at the end of the game? Maybe take a knee 4 times and give the other team the ball a couple of times? As soon as they had the time down to point to where they could run it out by taking a knee, they did.
  6. Yep. This one is not in the bag by any stretch. CH just recovered an onside kick. If they score here, it is a one score game. The Bucks need to start playing better defense. Oh no. CH player injured.
  7. I would have loved to have seen the 80 Pittsburg Pirates play the 83 Tigers. I remember seeing Pittsburg's Kenneth Reeves throwing the shotput one day behind the Buckeye field house. To this day I have never seen a HS player that looked like him. He looked like Lou Ferrigno. He was a HS All American I'm pretty sure. He would have been able to make blocks and tackles against anyone. I think a lot of people forget how great that Pittsburg team was.
  8. The game stat wise was lopsided for the Bucks when it was 0-0. I think it was close to 100 yards total offense to less than 20 for CH in the 1st. They just couldn't get the ball in the endzone. They fixed that part of it.
  9. 21-0 Bucks. 2:40something left in the half
  10. I hope Gilmer. I think they are the best. I'm jaded, but I will admit it. The Buckeyes seem to be so talented that any problems they have are going to be self imposed. If they can eliminate the turnovers, they can dictate to Kilgore the tempo of the game that will force Kilgore to feel the need to score quickly on every possession which could cause them to make mistakes. I think it is advantage Buckeyes. I didn't see the game against DF, but it seems as though they got beat deep on two plays. I don't know whether someone fell down or it was just busted coverage or whatever, those breakdowns are going to have to be eliminated. I kow a lot of talk about how good the defense is, but they have given up some big plays already this year. They need to figure out how to stop that from happening. They have to stop giving up 30+ yard plays. Those types of plays are almost as damaging as a turnover from a field position perspective. So to beat Kilgore or Carthage, no turnovers and stop giving up those big plays on defense and I think Gilmer wins against either. If Gilmer gives either 4 turnovers in the first half(like against DF) and they might not be able to overcome that.
  11. I think the Buckeyes made a strong case to be the Number 1 team in AAA with that win.
