    What the...?

That's exactly what is going on here! The district rules are all agreed upon by all the coaches at the beginning of the season. The problem is that some of the coaches apparently don't understand what +3/-3 means. That is how it is worded in the policy but they aren't going by THAT policy. They are using some other strange never heard of before formula.

QUOTE Aren't you the Girls Soccer Coach at Palestine? How can you allow your girls to take 2nd place when you don't deserve it? Do you not have a conscience? I don't know how you can sleep at night knowing that you aren't being honest with yourself or your team. If nothing gets changed in the standings and your girls do well and go far in the playoffs, you really won't be able to celebrate because you didn't earn it. OUR MAIDENS DID!!! Dear Junhun, You are correct, I am the Palestine Girls coach and I have been following this post since you started it. Unfortunately there is a misconception of how the district tie breakers are being done and there stems the problem. Nacogdoches is the district chair and handles all of these matters and I feel certain that Coach Farshid in his 25 plus years of coaching and under his new title of AD is quiet capable of figuring the numbers correctly. As for having a conscience, I value my integrity. Being the father of two beautiful young children, I understand what it is like to be watched and modeled. It is for that reason that I have not entered the public forum to give an answer as to why the Maidens finished in third place. To lay this to rest, I can assure you that the system you are using to figure the totals is not being used. No matter what coach from our district gave you this information, it is wrong. There are no goals being subtracted (-3) from any team. A team that wins 3-0 over another team will receive 3 pts. and the losing team simply receives 0. For this reason, going into the last matches, Palestine was ahead on goals. Jacksoville had to get their maximum goals (+3) in order to beat us. Unfortunately they beat Diboll 3-2 which only gave them 1 pt. Coach Wiemers and myself were both notified early Friday and knew about the situation at hand and what had to be done. I spoke with Coach Wiemers even after the game as did the District Chair and he knew where they had finished. Your girls team had an excellent season and I wish them the very best in the playoffs. I also admire your dedication to the team and your resolve to try and find out the answer to this question. Be careful though in how you word some of your statements. Should you have any other questions, feel free to send me another message. Thanks and have a good one. Ok. Here is the entire message. I was just trying to quote what you said the rules were so we could put the thread to rest. I was going to leave the personal stuff in the u2u, but if you want it all out there, here you go. If those are the district rules, those are the district rules. I just think they don't make any sense.

I U2U'd the Palestine girls soccer coach and this is what he said... I can assure you that the system you are using to figure the totals is not being used. I spoke with Coach Wiemers even after the game as did the District Chair and he knew where they had finished. This is the most bizarre "point differential" I have ever seen. How can a tie and a loss by 3 goals be worth the same amount? If this is true it turns my stomach. Its no wonder no one will take High School soccer seriously. It makes no sense.

So...has anything come of this mistake? Are the Maidens not going to take the 2nd place spot that they earned? This is unbelievable.

    What the...?

I think that is exactly whats going on here. Someone is trying to steal something from our girls. We have to get this worked out. It isn't right at all!! Our Maidens are getting kicked out of a spot that they deserve. How can this be fixed? Something needs to happen soon. I knew it didn't seem right that we got 3rd after Palestine lost to Nac by 3 Friday night.

    What the...?

I am not a coach and am not sure what the adminstrative rules are. I just know that the two teams tied in points, they tied in aggregate, and the Jacksonville girls lead the Palestine girls in district point differential by 1 (if all the score I have been given by my Palestine contact are correct.) I am just confused if there is another tie breaker in between the aggregate and district goal differential. The only thing I could come up with is maybe they do it like UEFA Champions League and after the aggregate is home goals given up in the head to head matches, that is the only way I can see Palestine getting the higher seed.

    What the...?

Can someone please explain to me how the Jacksonville Maidens and the Palestine Ladycats finished with the same amount of points and Jville leads in goal differential and they finished behind Palestine in 3rd place in the playoff seeding???
  9. Iv'e read your comments several times this season about J'ville not having coaching. The coach's first year to be there, made the playoffs, had a fairly good season. So what do you mean? I assure you. It wasn't the coaching that got the Tribe into the playoffs this year. Our coach is not even a real soccer coach. He will probably be back next year since we made the playoffs but come on, Jacksonville has alot of talent and the players aren't developing every year because of good coaching. Alot of these kids play outside of school and are being taught how to play by someone who actually knows the game of soccer. I hope that we have a better season next year but just getting in the playoffs isn't good enough for me. We need to be competitive at the next level and I really just don't think that the Tribe is there yet. It's a long way til January.
  10. Has anyone heard if the Jville coach is leaving or not?
  11. I mean I know that PT won their district and had an awesome season but they can't win every single award. Every coach nominates who they want to put up for each award. Maybe some coaches didn't nominate those who YOU thought should win. No it doesn't really matter now because it is over and done with but it's not like winning those awards change your life. Give me a break!
  12. This will be another tough match for Lindale. Poteet has a very good defense and after both teams playing last night they will have to get ready for this early match. Good luck and can't wait to hear the result
  13. That is really unfortunate that is how the game ended. Lindale has met some tough opponents the last 2 matches which is appropriate this far into the playoffs. Sounds like everyone got the match they wanted. Maybe not the result but the 2 teams are very evenly matched and was a great game up until that last little bit. Tough break. Looked like it was heading to a shootout. Good season PineTree. Good Luck Eagles.
  14. Alot of the players at Lindale have been playing for years. Many of them play outside of high school which is wonderful experience for most high school athletes. It helps them to grow as players and get much quicker and be able to anticipate the game. Yes the Eagles have had an outstanding season and have done very well in district play the last 2 years BUT most of that team would be playing soccer and be playing the same calibur if any coach was there. The fact is that the guys are just good players. Yes a great coach can make you better but you must be able to go out on the field and get it done which is exactly what those young boys have done. Don't worry about what people think. Who cares who hates your coach? In the end it doesn't even matter. Good Luck to the Eagles today.
  15. Heck I'm definately for 3a soccer. If they had their own district we wouldn't have to worry about Palestine every year. LOL
