  1. I saw where he passed away Sunday morning. Wasn't his nickname Mudd Jackson and he was a football player at Longview High? He had a lot to do with AAU ball in Duncanville area.
  2. Then you don't know the law. If she was a student when he started the relationship it is against the law. I am pretty sure that if she was 35 and they had been married for 15 years and it came out that he was sleeping with her when she was a student then he can get his certification taken. As always it is dangerous to spit out as fact things that you aren't sure of. Her age has nothing to do with it if she is a student.
  3. I kindof thought we were, but wasn't sure.
  4. world22 I am trying to follow you, but you are confusing me. Maybe just be me being dumb. lol MY point is this....to be very clear............Basketball is a game that you can NOT stay away from and then walk in and just pick it back up. Football is. Football is about being an athlete along with some skills. Basketball is about being an Athlete and having great skills and keeping them honed. So when a football coach at a high school says that kids don't need to be in the gym working on their skills, or that becoming stronger takes precedent over BASKETBALL skill development and/or improvement.....I think the Paulus example proves this wrong. As do hundreds of others. So when it is basketball season the guys wanting to play basketball need to be in the gym improving their skills. Basketball is a game of Skill. That is not a shot a football. That is not saying basketball is harder to play. That is not saying basketball is a better sport. I am only saying it is a game of Skill, and if you don't keep those skills sharp and develop them.......you will not be successful, or as good as you could be, no matter how good an athlete you are. Now world22 that may or may not be exactly what you are saying......I just couldn't tell exactly where you stood.
  5. So if you believe that, then what you are saying is that for a football coach to say that a kid needs to do football type workouts instead of going to the gym during basketball season and preaches that it was NOT going to change his effectiveness on the basketball floor is total bull corn. Am I hearing you correctly? And by the way...........I think what you described above would be almost impossible to pull off. I appreciate that you said only, but I am not sure many people could do that.
  6. OK so I have an observation and then a question. A lot of football coaches get on a soapbox about basketball and how inferior it is as a sport and that kids don't need to be in the gym, and they need to be playing or preparing for football year round. Now granted, not ALL believe that, and some believe it to a varying degree, but there is a high % that do. And there are some that make outlandish claims about basketball players not being great athletes. That is my FIRST HAND observation from a very up close position. Now my question.................how many people think that a kid who was a great basketball player, as well as a great football player in high school. could NOT play basketball for 4 years and then decide to go play basketball at a MAJOR College and he walk in and be named STARTER at PG.? Remember he has taken four years OFF from the sport of basketball. I know I asked the question, but I will also give you my opinion...........................NONE, notta, NO WAY!!!!!!!! A kid that has not played competitive basketball for four years is not walking into a decent program and starting at PG. But now we have a guy who did not play football for FOUR years, and played major college pg. and the only two decisions he had to make when he decided to start playing football again were...................do I want to just go straight to the pros, or which college do I want to go to and start the first year I get there? After not working at the sport for four years.
  7. I am interested in the job and who gets it, and not in who isn't going to be there or why. My question for YOU is...................... if YOU don't care, then why are YOU dominating the thread. You moved on, so move on.
  8. Seriously, why don't you two go start another thread and have your fun? Why won't someone answer the original questions that have to do FUTURE of LADY PIRATE basketball? No one is really interested in the past or how they got here. Just wanted to know where they headed.
  9. Please explain your post or delete it.
  10. That is why I keep asking................is Robin interested in taking over?
  11. So I am assuming no one currently on staff is going to take over. Any rumors?
  12. Is there anyone in place to take over this job, or will it be opened up? I know they have a new AD and was wondering if they had started the process of interviews yet? How does the future look for the Lady Pirates?
  13. Greatest thing I ever heard Tuffy say........................ "You are uncoachable. I can't coach you, so go stand by DA. Since he is the only one that can coach you!" Kid would go stand by DA and that would last about one minute. Kid would come back to Tuffy and he would actually listen for a while.
  14. "Greatest team ever assembled, any sport" was the question. Then in the post it said "that won a state championship". So I didn't post, but I still think this group was one of the greatest teams ever assembled. The reason Daingerfield of the 80's and Big Sandy of the 70's are mentioned is because of their dominance. The team I am going to nominate was that dominate but they lost in the State Finals. The 2000 Pine Tree Lady Pirate Volleyball Team They played 40 matches up until the state championship. At that time you played best out of 3 matches. They never went to 3 games. They won 80 games and lost 0. Their record was 40-0 going into the state championship game. There were multiple matches in which the warmups lasted longer than the match. I saw teams (deep in the playoffs) scared to retake the court vs. them after the first game...........in the playoffs. I have only seen Celina intimidate people as close as this team did. Of their 6 starters 4 played college vball. and one played college bball. 3 played Div. 1 volleyball. That is 50% of their starters played Div. 1. Think about that. Another played Div. II. I have played against several undefeated state champs in football, baseball, and several in basketball with great records. I have never seen a team as dominate as this team in any high school sport. Too bad they didn't win the state championship, because if they had, I would rank them with Big Sandy and Daingerfield on this thread.
  15. No doubt. Except they are such a huge advantage when you are the home team. Every one dreads and hates playing there so much, you have to use it to your advantage. Their gym situation is a shame. But the main reason a lot of people aren't applying is UOS.
