  1. CO70 really should have added this to his explanation of Gilmer repertoire.... one must change the "s" at the end to a "z." For example, "Yes, we are all a bunch of nutz." (See?)
  2. Oh, CO70, you crack me up!!! No offense taken, btw, on the cheerleader comments. Facts are facts. As for the injury status of some of the players ya'll have asked about (with a gentle reminder that this is from my daughter, who may not always be paying 100% attention to every word that is said!).... Branson Parker is good to go and will be playing Friday; Colton Hill should be good to go; Anthony Villafuerte should be back in action after his fracture (I think against Spring Hill?); and those with nagging injuries are mending well and healing more each week.
  3. I'm with ya, AOB! I must say that I was a bit disappointed in our crowd last week, just 'cause I know we can do better! That being said, though...there was a voice coming from behind me that sounded much like one of the chipmunks. No joke... it was a little old lady, I swear, had to be 100 years old (about 5' tall and no more than 90 lbs. soaking wet). She yelled for the Buckeyes at the top of her little lungs all night long. She's my new hero. And, all you Van fans better stock up on the TUMS tonight. I wouldn't know personally, but I hear crow gives you horrible indigestion.
  4. You must have missed the one she threw Friday night. It was a bullet up to the 4th or 5th row from the top. The guys in the stands around us actually cheered for her. There was some sort of delay in getting the footballs this year, and they were kinda rationing them at first. I will be sure to let her know, though. And thank you, I think she's a cutie too!
  5. OOPS!!! Ok, people...this is what happens when you multi-task and post things in a hurry for fear your boss will walk in the room! and before anyone starts with the quality of Gilmer's education, I went to Pine Tree and then was shipped off to a private Christian school that i affectionately refer to as "the reject school of the South." (They did have athletic scholarships, though!)
  6. Jackpots, you can find the videos on YouTube, or just go to www.gilmerbuckeyes.blogspot.com. They post all the related news articles, red zone clips, etc. BTW, cheerleader on the main page this week is my darling daughter.
  7. Unfortunately, Argyle was the quickest for me to locate, but the Gilmer Mirror article shows the following for Gilmer/Argyle game (62 offensive plays for the Bux; still more than 45, but less than Fiddlesticks' stats): Gilmer Argyle 26 First downs 19 35-172 Rushes-yds 34-246 27-45-2 Passing 16-27-0 308 Passing yds 322 480 Total yds 568 2 Fumbles lost 0 7-65 Penalties-yds 6-42 SCORE BY QUARTERS 1 2 3 4 T Gilmer 0 0 7 7 14 Argyle 3 10 21 7 41
  8. CO70, I kinda resent that...I, myself, would meet most of the Gilmerite's socialite qualifications. I have all 32 of my own, original teeth. I bathe regularly, using indoor plumbing. Not every meal I cook involves oil and a deep fryer, and it rarely consists of anything that has been picked up on the side of the road. (Although I was mortified to be in the car with someone once that really did stop and pick up roadkill to feed to her exotic animals, saying it was "like peanut butter on a Ritz cracker to a lion," but that is a story for another forum and another day.) I even have reserved orange seats for the football games.
  9. For anyone that didn't see it in the newspaper or hear it elsewhere, the cheerleaders are sponsoring a "pink out" for Breast Cance Awareness Month at the game and pep rally. They will have t-shirts for sale at the pep rally, with all proceeds going (I believe) to Coach Henry's wife, who is battling breast cancer. CORRECTION: Sale of the T-shirts will benefit the American Cancer Society. There will be a collection taken at the game (Pass the Helmet) to benefit Coach Henry's wife.
  10. Off topic...but - I just wanted to compliment the Gladewater Middle School Majorettes. My daughter is a Gilmer JH majorette, and was very impressed with what a sweet group of girls ya'll have over there in the "other" G-town. They were very complimentary of our girls and cheered for them the whole time they performed. Seems to be a very good group of young ladies!!!
  11. Thank you, goduke for speaking up. I almost started a thread on this very issue....PEOPLE!!! Learn to watch for the refs to signal and learn what they mean!!!! And if you don't know, keep your pie hole shut, you are not allowed to argue with, yell at or boo the officials!!!! For instance, at the Gilmer-Tatum game the flag flew, the ref signaled a block in the back, then pointed towards Tatum...all as the section above me booed!!! And this applies to all sports...yes, moms and dads, the antenna in volleyball really is out of bounds, in basketball when your child downright molests someone it is a foul, and I could go on and on. And another volleyball related one...please do not yell "OUT!!!" (unless you're jacking with the opposing team! LOL) You cannot tell from a distance where the ball is going to land, and half the time the kids hear you, watch the ball go by, then get berated by the coaches for letting the ball drop inside the court. (this one is mostly Jr. High age related)
  12. Hey, AOB, I'm here! You made my day...finally I have something (in wiriting) to show my husband that, yes, someone (other than me) thinks I have wisdom!!! Sorry about my absence, I went to check on Franks, and boy...he wasn't kidding...he IS really twisted up over all this... And when I showed up in D'field, poor Crush was in the middle of having a party and thought I was trying to crash it, and well, if looks could kill... Anyway, I am really looking forward to a great game tomorrow night. Like most from Gilmer, I think Daingerfield is always a team to be respected, in our house or theirs. Some of the hardest hits I have ever seen our boys take have been at the hands (or shoulders) of the Tigers, and I have always been impressed with the amount of talent they have year in and year out. I am really excited about the Bucks this year, but am trying to stifle my enthusiasm just a bit until I can see more. It's been really hard for me to tell if the teams we have played were just off the night we got hold of 'em, or if our boys forced them out of their game. Each time I see them, I am more convinced that the squirrelly little D and more-balanced-than-we've-seen-in-a-while offense have indeed taken charge. Hope to see them improve even more as the season moves forward!
  13. While we appreciate you Tigger fans' enthusiasm, please don't let wildtigers dress up for the game again this year! Really, some of the kids required therapy afterwards....
  14. Seeing that I have never coached a football game in my life, I may be totally wrong, but... It seems to me that running a trick play at the end of a blowout game would be a good time to practice it in a game situation, rather than trying it out for the first time when it was needed. And as for putting it on display for future opponents to see, what is the likelihood really? If I was looking at game films, I would be looking a little more closely at games where someone was effectively stopping the offense, and spending very little time looking at the 4th qtr of a blowout when the starters had likely been pulled, etc. If it's a trick play that failed, would anybody complain?
