  1. Sorry to post so late but a couple of my colleagues and I made the trek up to Indy last week to make my first visit to PASIC and got to see the Lorena drumline up close and personal. Incredible! Major props to those kids... :notworthy: So, to the poster who enlightened us all...you sure called it.
  2. Wow...I don't believe you swayed anyone with that post. Thanks again and again for proving my point. No one is going to give you a free pass for you to say whatever you want and not be held accountable just because you are the AA champs.
  3. The QC folks who continue to make posts like that only further prove my point about their behavior...but I am just bitter and don't know what I am talking about.
  4. Then don't act the way you do. The posts you've made since becoming a member of smoaky.com only prove my point. No one minds the QC band being a good AA band...it is your behavior that turns people off.
  5. You might if you knew how to spell pedestal
  6. You didn't just type that did you? I am fairly positive that judges know that SOME Henry Fillmore marches are just as technically demanding, some even more so, as a Ticheli piece.
  7. It is extremely comical to see all of the posts(by people who have probably never been to area and don't even know who the judges are) about how military bands aren't given a fair shake at area and the judges have this vendetta against them. How stupid. The judges critique you based on your performance...if you don't expose your percussion or woodwind sections then guess what, you're probably not going to get many points other than for your ensemble and marching. As another poster stated earlier, you do not receive extra points for props or guard. Which is the misconception that most of you have. That's where military bands lose ground...because they don't have enough percussion or woodwind exposure (they're part of the band too, ya know). I'm not saying compromise your marching style by adding corps. style elements but you need to do something...like New Boston and Spring Hill for example. Their directors aren't stubborn...but very smart and know how to play the game.
  8. The sad part is that there are actually people out there who think that way. :banghead:
  9. Any reports? I heard a large Arkansas h.s. was the runaway favorite in all captions...far and away top dog. Would this be the first year in like 5 yrs that Queen City hasn't won grand champion?
  10. i saw all 4 bands and would have to agree that new boston and atlanta would have took qc this past year.
  11. I know what you are talking about... and I give what he does a big  He is a good TRUMPET PLAYER...can't speak much on anything else though.
  12. As most military band percussion sections are different while not on the field. And tonal bass drums aren't everything, but they sure make things more interesting and it really raises the competency level of the players involved.
