  1. It's in Henderson. Gilmer plays at Prestonwood early in the season.
  2. Will has had an incredible season. An unfortunate injury, indeed!
  3. The heck with moving Oswalt to the bullpen...he needs to be moved back to Mississippi!!! There's guys on the farm that have more stuff than Roy OLD-swalt.
  4. The latest is Raqngers have 1% chance of trading for Cliffr Lee BUT are considered to be the front runner to get Josh Beckett from Boston. At first I thought he could be a clubhouse cancer, but his 4.52 ERA looks good next to Roy Oswalt's 6.7.
  5. Neftali Feliz has been scratched from a rehab start in the minors, that was scheduled for tonight. More elbow problems!
  6. Houston...eeer, Arlington we have a problem! Just when the AL West race is heating up the Rangers, collectively, seem to be wilting. 1. The fans actually booed Hamilton last night. Hamilton is fragile, physically and mentally. 2. Darvish...effectiveness way down...is it the heat, the pitching every 5th day vs. once a week in Japan, or has the league's hitters caught up with him? 3. Oswalt...a disappointment; maybe he can finish strong. 4. Kinsler's offensive numbers are way down. 5. Nathan has been up and down as closer. I didn't think Grinkie was the answer for the Rangers, but Daniels absolutely has to get more pitching before the trade deadline. I think if any GM can make it happen it will be Jon D.
  7. Garland Events Center is a very nice facility for its size and the people there do a great job. Decent hotels, restaurants and shopping nearby.
  8. IMO Ellis will be missed as a strength coach much more than as a baseball coach, despite his MLB experiences. I don't think Ellis got enough credit for his work as a strength coach and his contribution to Henderson's success especially in football, but in many of the other sports as well.
  9. It's all a lot of married have to get them through as well! Makes the sport more interesting to watch.
  10. Bullard, for various reasons, also lost everyone of their varsity girls head coaches, with the exception of the tennis coach. You don't see that too often.
  11. I wouldn't go your ring measurement just yet. I believe Henderson lost to Rusk in a warm-up game not too long. While the Lady Lions are very good, you have to take things one game at a time. When you get to Austin anything can happen.
  12. The basketball coaching profession is losing a good one, indeed!
  13. Fundamentally sound; above average hitting, with two very strong pitchers that offer contrasting styles.
  14. Game 1 of series.....Linden-Kildare 5 Troup 0.
  15. Bullard upsets No. 1 ranked Waco Robinson 1-0 tonight in Game 1 of best-of-three series. Only second loss of the year for Robinson. Taft Rose of Bullard out performs Robinson's Texas signee Chad Hollingsworth. Way to go Panthers!
  16. Class 3A, Region III, Area (single game) Rusk vs. Lorena, 7:30 p.m. Friday at Fairfield High School
  17. Bullard vs. Pollak Central, 4 p.m. Saturday, Huntington High School (single game series)
  18. Didn't Alto pick up the Sturns (QB) kid from Rusk?
  19. There is also a Fitzgerald kid that is in the minors (not sure where) that prepped at Marshall High. I believe his first name is Dustin.
  20. Brodie Greene (Bullard/Texas A&M) is playing for Reds' AA team in Pensacola.
  21. With two games left in regular season, Bullard leads Rusk by one game (for first place). These two teams meet Friday, by the way. This is where things get interesting. THe first place team from 17-3A, in all lilkihood and barring major upsets, would have to face No. 1 Waco Robinson (22-1) in regional quarterfinal round, and the winner of that one would then probably have to face No. 2 Bridge City (18-2-1) in the next round. The runner-up in 17-3A has a much easier row to hoe....most likely Jasper in bi-district, then Madisonville (15-8) and then either Hudson (11-7) or China Spring (17-8-1) in regional quarterfinal round, with Splendora (17-3) being the likely team in the regional semi. So, if you are in Rusk or Bullard's shoes do you go all out this week an try to win the 17-3A crown, knowing you will have a tough trip in the playoffs, or do take option "B and play for the big picture?
  22. East Texas-product Phillip Humber tossed a perfect game in the Chicago White Sox win over Seattle on Saturday.
