Don't know much about Bullard baseball. But I played ball with Coach Cobb in summer ball in high school, and know him as a coaching collegue. Bullard landed them a good young coach that knows the game and how to teach it. His assistance to Coach Berry is part of the reason Lufkin baseball has risen the last 6 years after falling off for a short period of time. He is well prepared for this position.

Really??? Why would he leave Latexo's baseball program for Kennard? That doesn't make much sense unless he was forced out for some reason.

Apple Springs has certainly benefited from dropping down to sixman in 2005. They opened up the eyes of many small schools in East Texas towards sixman.

1. Butcher Shop in Longview has great burgers and atmosphere. 2. Buffalo Wild Wings is nice. 3. Went to Cotton Patch before games and it's pretty relaxed with good food. It really all depends on what you are looking for. If you are in Lufkin stop by Ray's Drive In or Mom's Diner for really great burger before the game.

Trey Deason of Apple Springs will also be participating in the Sixman All-Star Game for the Division I East team.

Right now two games back of the 4th spot for the playoffs. But, we need some help and need to win 3 of our last 5 to force a tie for 4th place. If the kids show up to play it could be an interesting finish. But, it has been a decent season the team has been more competitive in this tough district (Bellaire #1 5A team in nation, Westside 1st place in district, and Lamar traditional top Houston area team). Year before team was 0-20. This year 7-12 right now and fighting to stay alive in the playoff picture. I feel like if we were in another district we would definately be a playoff team. The Houston Chronicle High School Sports reporter called Friday to set up an interview about the team's turnaround this season. So, i'm enjoying the big city thus far, and looking forward to the future. Also congrats on your 100 victory as well.

What happen to Anderson-Shiro they won state a few years back, and use to be a 2-A force in baseball year in and year out.

Little Gunnels still mowing them down in this district, and Lovelady continues to win. Gunnels isn't overpowering, but he pitches very smart. Good job StorminNorman keep up the good work. You do a great job with your kids!

Hey StorminNorman I see you have your guys playing well again this year. District looks to be very competitive once again. How did Apple Springs look when you guys played them last week?

That Wells and Apple Springs game looks like a football score (25-14). Wells must be much improved. Apple Springs has beat Wells in baseball over the course of the last few years. Anyone have the full standings for this district?

I wonder if Apple Springs was able to get them on their schedule? That would be a short drive for them as well. I certainly agree more schools in East Texas need to get on the sixman football bandwagon. It is hard to argue that it won't work. Look at the sucess Apple Springs and Leverett's Chapel had since moving to UIL competition. Apple Springs made the playoffs in Division II each of it's first two season before moving D-I with year, and Leverett's Chapel made it in it's first season. With each program losing in the Regional Championship games. So, maybe more teams will start looking into playing sixman instead of not fielding a football team at all, or getting blown at every week by teams with more athletes and depth. Certainly something to think about. I wonder if Apple Springs was able to get them on their schedule? That would be a short drive for them as well. For anyone looking for a good coaching/teaching position Apple Springs is a great opportunity. I was the Defensive Coordinatior and Head Baseball Coach the last 3 years. I hate to leave, but I have been given a great opportunity to further my career in Houston as a Head Baseball Coach at a 5A school. But, Apple Springs is 15 miles south of Lufkin in East Texas. It's a great family environment in the school. The administration is very supportive, and the kids, faculty, and staff are awesome. There are good sixman facilities with a fieldhouse. I didn't know much about sixman football when I got there and had never coached football at all, but it is very exciting brand of football. The baseball program had been down when I arrived, but all the resources you need are in place and the baseball field looks good during the season if you put in the work on it. There is no better person to work with in the coaching profession than Cody Moree, the Head Football Coach/Athletic Director. He supports all sports and provides the resources needed to be successful as he is also the Principal. I really enjoyed teaching and coaching in this community and will miss everyone there. I highly recommend this vacancy to an individual looking to make an impact on young kids lives.

Since you are referring to those 1-A head football coaches/AD's who have no duties or classes why don't you name some? Even if they don't teach classes athletic director is an administrative position. Most 4-A and 5-A schools today have athletic directors that don't even coach. But, yea a 1-A school you will find an AD who teaches classes, coaches football, track, baseketball, class sponsor, and sell popcorn at halftime. That's just the dynamics of 1-A schools and athletics. At my school my AD is head football coach, has been head basketball coach, and principal. So, trust me even if those AD do not teach classes their responsibilites to go to all the sporting events and district meetings througout the year as an administrator is alot. But, I still want you to name those AD's you refer to.
