  1. Blessed I feel sorry for you because with every post that talks negatively about the ole high school coach you come back with something that proves our point. Cluth said that most of the time they (HS coaches) have a chip so big on there shoulder they misinterpret advise for criticism and as my wise old Dad use to say "Sometimes if you shut up you might just learn something." I think if you go back to the start of this post and read all the way thru I think you will see that you do prove our point! Thanks and God bless you to.
  2. I dont want any high school names but since it has been a topic where there seems to be a difference of thought. I would like to know how many dads out there think there daughter is being served well by playing HS softball versus playing for there coach on ther select team.
  3. And I was so willing to let this go. See Forum Topics for more.
  4. Has one of the teams not been given a win or does Pine Tree only have 4 losses
  5. Interesting to me how your first post was a comment about a post and your next was back to the thread. Your are right as a select ball coach I don't have to deal with only having a small pool to choose from. I can recruit. I also have to live with the fact that my ace pitcher can leave tommorrow for what her father considers a better opportunity in the Dallas area, then have to face her at the next weeks tournament. That has happened to me. It truly is amazing to me how some HS,D1,D3 coach can get on and talk badly about us so called daddy ball coaches. Yes I will continue to come on and point out things I see done wrong by HS coaches. I have girls, not boys they have chosen to play softball only. I have the same expectations of my softball coach as most people have of their football coach. No school in East Texas is going to put up with a football coach who makes bad decisions and I am not willing to put a softball coach who does it. I do think there are several good softball coaches in East Texas, but I think there are more bad ones. Last thing in reading the posted Blessed it appears you are a very experienced Coach. For future reference I probably would not rip on us daddy ball coaches quite so much. I have a pretty good idea that some of your success and promotion through the ranks has been in part do to a lot of daddy ball coaches like myself.
  6. Sorry friend when I come on and state things its because I have asked to find out if they had other pitchers and the answer has been yes. If a pitcher is having walking issues or getting hammered the alternative at that time can't be much worse. I will give you that some smaller schools might have only 1 pitcher. Since a coaches job is to prepare his team would it not be a good idea to try and inspire one or two other girls to try to pitch. I realize it takes a lot of time to learn how to pitch but last I checked the high school coach has them for 4 years. And by the way if you are a coach and you are willing to spot me a runner 5 out of 7 innings my daughters 12 and under team could beat you.
  7. I agree fully with you. No good coach is going to let a pitcher walk 4/5 batters a game. Unfortunately over the course of watching high school softball over the past 3 seasons I see coaches that leave girls in when they are struggleing and it winds up costing their team an opportunity to win. Not only that I seldom see most of them call time out to even talk to a pitcher much less make a change. Bottom line is I think there are a lot more good pitchers in East Texas than there are good high school coaches. I take pitcher B by the way.
  8. I would more than likely not talk to the coach. It has been my experience that most High School softball coaches (there are exceptions) are pushed into coaching the sport with very little if any experience. This being said they get game situation experience about 30 games a year. The problem is now days about half if not more of the kids who make it to High School and play have dads or moms who have probably coached more games than the coach who is now coaching their daughter. The High School coach needs to show that he is in control and will inform you he or she knows what is best and it is his/her discission. I probably would not bash him but if it makes you feel better it is a way to do it. What school does your daughter go to?
  9. Cats though I still think you have some delusional tendencies. I have to show respect for anyone who comes to the table to eat his crow unlike most of the WO faithful. :notworthy:
  10. Cat why don't you ask your players if there was some sort of discussion during the Kilgore game between a player and a coach that got a little heated. After this if you still think nothing happened (like when Mommy and Daddy were talking not aurgueing). Then feel free to contact me my office hours are from 9-5 Monday thru Thurs and Fri 9-12 I'm in the book under Psychologist because you are truly delusional.
  11. Cats69 if the shouting match between one of your girls and a coach is an example of your definition of gelling I would hate to hear what your definition of disfunctional is. After WO starts 1-3 in district it maybe hard for them to field a team. Nice win over Kilgore by the way I think were 2-11 this year.....
  12. MasterY the comment was not directed at you persay, but alot of posters seem to use that to take away some of the luster of a good win. The pitcher you are refering to is a very talented one. Have had the pleasure of watching her pitch for Troup for several years. A state title in the future maybe a little premature. Let's at least get to district play before we start breaking out the anointing oil. How ever it goes good luck to Troup and keep throwing hard Jessica.
  13. Kinda sick of hearing the question "How many girls out due to basketball?" Not only on this post but others. If you people who like to use that insist we can insert an asterick at the end of your record and note at the bottom that Marcia, Jan and Cindi where in basketball so you know what our record should really be. You got beat move on and give all the players a participation trophy.
  14. Who pitched for White Oak? I thought they had there pitcher returning from last year.
