  1. 42 40 DeKalb 1 26 left. From where I'm sitting it looked like the 2 pt try was good but officials said just short. Edgewood just got the onside kick.
  2. Ma'am? Hey girl, no snap judgment on my part. You called a high school football player a thug. Do you know him?
  3. He is not a thug and you shouldn't say that. You don't even know him and you weren't there to see how the whole play transpired. I would never come on here and call one of your players a thug. He is a kid playing in an emotional rivalry game and you are, at least I assume you are, a grown man and you should act like it. Be better.
  4. SS boys defeated Hallsville this afternoon 52-49.
  5. SS boys gave up a big old lead in the 4th and lost to MP 53-51. SS girls lost big to MP.
  6. Thanks! I found the game on Longview Gameday on Facebook.
  7. Longview fans, does Longview livestream their basketball games? I checked NFHS and didn't see one for tonight. Thanks in advance for any info.
  8. BI-DISTRICT Sulphur Springs vs. Jacksonville 7:30 PM Friday Feb 19th @ Hallsville High School
  9. Nothing against Coach Willard, but I really thought they would go with Coach Cooper, who was previously the head coach and AD at Gatesville for several years. I hope Coach Cooper doesn't leave now.
  10. Sulphur Springs boys and girls both defeated Hallsville. Boys score: 60-46. Girls score: 33-29
  11. @Mavchampthe Sulphur Springs girls record is 6-3.
  12. MP defeated SS 44-41 on a 3 point buzzer beater in overtime. Quite possibly one of the worst high school games I have ever watched. Both teams were equally bad. How the heck MP is undefeated is beyond me. Luckily for MP, they were just a little less terrible than SS at the buzzer tonight.
  13. Reliable sources say that Coach Briles is in talks regarding the OC position at Texas Tech and that the Tech jet was spotted at an airport near Mt. Vernon this evening.
  14. Coach Art Briles resigned from Mt. Vernon this morning. Art Briles Resigns at Mount Vernon https://twitter.com/DavidSmoak/status/1338542868084953090?s=20
  15. I love this! Yes, the Don Meredith legacy is still very strong in Mt. Vernon. He loved his hometown, and he never forgot where he came from. He is buried here, and a lot of big names attended his funeral in little Mt. Vernon. In addition to Dandy the Mascot, the football stadium is named Don Meredith Stadium, and we have a museum in town. When I was a kid, we had a "Hometown of" billboard at the Mt. Vernon exit on I-30 that had life-size images of both Don and Bobby Maples in their football uniforms. He put Mt. Vernon on the map, and Jeff and Hazel's baby boy will always be a legend in Mt. Vernon. If I were a neutral fan with no team in this game, I would also root for Dandy Don's Purple Tigers.
  16. Mt. Vernon vs Gladewater will be on Star 96.9. It will also be broadcast on the NFHS network. Game time is 7 p.m.
  17. This is from KSST, a Sulphur Springs radio station. It explains the zones pretty well. https://www.ksstradio.com/2020/10/wildcats-football-coach-greg-owens-discusses-new-zone-competition-concept-in-district/
  18. Varsity Football Game Update: The game between Bonham and Mt. Vernon has been cancelled for COVID-19 cases at Bonham. According to District 5-AAA DEC guidelines, it will be considered a forfeit by Bonham.
  19. For anyone interested, CHS Tiger Football Streaming will be live streaming the game on their Facebook page, with the audio by the Texas A&M Commerce radio station, KETR 88.9 FM.
  20. Mt. Vernon DOES NOT have 200 positive cases. Since school began on August 6th, approximately 200 students and 19 teachers have been sent home to quarantine at various times due to exposure. This was for precaution only. For example, a Junior High cheerleader tested positive over the weekend, so on Monday 25 students who had been deemed to have been in close contact with the cheerleader, either through cheer or assigned seating in classes, were sent home to quarantine for 14 days. Just like most schools, Mt. Vernon has had some positive cases, but they are being proactive in requiring those who were in close contact who might have been exposed to quarantine as part of their mitigation efforts. As of 8 a.m. yesterday, September15th, the official Franklin County press release listed 12 active cases for all of Franklin County. There is a video on the Mt.Vernon ISD Facebook page of the Superintendent's message yesterday afternoon.
