16AAA, a beast in all sports.

They will have the most talent and athletes as usual. Probably only behind Gilmer/Carthage as far as athlete, but very close.

Good point, I bet Rivercrest is looking for a new coach next year when the Supt. at MV doesn't rehire Swann and hires the new coach away from Rivercrest. -
NB has had a good run of athletes, they will be a real force in 2A.

Rivercrest hires Allen Cross as AD/Football Coach

Typical inside deal and usually the way it works. New supt fires old guy regardless of his success and brings in his own guy, notice the Clarksville connection. Not saying right or wrong, just usually the way it goes down. -
We have played them the last few years and they have done a great job with the talent they have and the kids play hard for him. They have just been in the toughest district in East Texas. Last year they they took Pitt into the second half with a close game and were leading PG in the second half, two teams who went deep into the playoffs. And they have beaten their biggest rival Winnsboro the last couple of years and Winnsboro has had some good teams. I think they were 5-0 until district arrived last year. I saw where they are acutally below the AAA cutoff now, just a tough position, as they would be a very good AA club. Best of luck to Coach Swann whatever happens.

I believe their last good team and playoff run in football was 2005, same year they won the state championship in basketball. -
He did a great job at Rains 2005-08.

What does Rivercrest have coming back, I know they have down the last 3-4 years since moving back to 2A, but can they compete?

"domestic violence"- does that mean the stangulation involved a girl? not alot of specifics.

Mineola is lucky they were put in a pretty weak 2A district as well. Melissa has been fielding good teams the past few years, not sure what they have coming back. Winnsboro will be down for a couple of years. Caddo Mills lost their everything player Jefferies. Mineola should have made the playoffs last year considereing how weak their AAA district- WP the only good team from that district. Mineola better be able to make the playoffs next year, but it looks like they have scheduled another weak non-district schedule just like the last few years which has hurt them when they get into district. Mount Vernon has beat them four straight years and it looks like they are not on the schedule this year and have been replaced by Rains based on the schedule I have seen, that won't make them better. It won't matter who finshes 1 and 2 in this district, because they will be out in the first round when they play Dangerfield or New Boston. But yes, Mineola should make the playoffs this year in football.

Coaches should be making the decision, not clueless superintendents.

Van has had plenty of talent the last few years, last year was just decimated with injuries. But they have had some big-time running backs come through in the last five years.

Paris always has talent, I thought they would have put together a bigger run in AAA after dropping down from AAAA.
