  1. I am taking Carlisle in this one. To me they are the better team and they are also are highs ranked by MaxPreps.
  2. Both S&S in 3A DII and Whitesboro in 3A DI won playoff games as 4 seeds this year. I am not a fan of byes, I think they miss with a teams rhythm.
  3. Should be a close game, but I see Hico pulling out the victory in the end.
  4. Boles will have a tough time with Tolar, who is actually ranked higher than Hico. Boles can win if they bring their A game. Tolar will definitely test passing defense. Wolfe City will also have a tough game against Hico. Hico has a very good run defense and a good running game.
  5. Joe Gilliard-Boles 3 playoff games 66 carries, 530 yds, 11 td's 1 rec, 29 yds Playing with a padded cast his right arm.
  6. Boles runs the Wing-T and they have been unstoplable this year. There offense is very dynamic. They can score from any were on the field, when any time left. They Avg. 46 points a game. Boles beefs up running game to among state's best By DAVID CLAYBOURN Herald-Banner Staff QUINLAN — When the Dallas Cowboys lost their star quarterback Tony Romo to a broken pinkie, the team struggled and doubts arose about just how good the team really was until Romo returned. When the Boles Hornets lost their star running back Joe Gilliard to a broken right arm in the fifth game of the season, the team preserved and found a way to win five games without him. Now that Gilliard's back the undefeated Hornets have beefed up their running game so much that they rank as the top rushing high school offense in the state of Texas and among the national leaders. The 13-0 Hornets have run for 5,441 yards on 593 carries, which is an average of 9.17 yards per carry and 418.5 yards per game. Gilliard, a speedy 150-pound senior, leads the Hornets with 1,565 yards and 25 touchdowns on 129 carries. Gilliard's averaging 12.1 yards per carry and 195.6 yards per game. Lane Sutton, a 215-pound sophomore running back, is next for the Hornets with 1,514 yards and 20 touchdowns on 164 carries. Sutton's averaging 9.2 yards per carry and 116.5 yards per game. Quarterback Kailob Wallace, a 155-pound sophomore, is averaging 7.4 yards per carry and 59.5 yards per game with 773 yards and 14 touchdowns on 104 carries. Boles also has three other rushers with more than 300 yards, including Andy Allen (54-492, 6 TDs), Kelly Dodson (52-395, 2 TDs) and Stephen Hatchel (41-373, 4 TDs). Losing Gilliard, who's been a 1,000-plus rusher in each of the past two seasons, was a learning experience for the other Hornets. "We definitely had to learn how to play without him," said Dodson. "We actually had to learn how to drive down the field. Take time off the clock." "It helped us a lot playing without him," said Wallace. "Especially the Wolfe City game. It made us play more technique." Wolfe City pushed the Hornets to the limit in a battle for the District 14-A championship as Boles held on for a 34-27 victory. Gilliard returned in time for the playoffs, helping the Hornets to victories of 44-27 over Collinsville, 31-3 over DeLeon and 42-27 over Seymour. The Hornets have reached the Class A Division I state semifinals for the first time in school history and will play 11-1 Canadian at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wichita Falls. Boles' other backfield mates say they're really glad to have Gilliard back. "It makes it a lot easier for me," said Sutton. "Now they can't key on anybody," said Dodson. "You try to stop the inside run and Joe runs outside. There's not too much you can do to us. We're going to score no matter what." Gilliard said it was tough to watch his teammates from the sideline, wishing he could return. Now that he's back, Gilliard called it "exciting" and "exhilarating." Wallace said now there's less pressure on Gilliard because defenses know they have to stop more than one Hornet runner. "I think Joe knows now he doesn't have to be the big-play guy," said Wallace. Head coach Todd Wallace said playing without Gilliard in the backfield really helped Sutton mature. "It made Lane have to grow up," he said. "He got a taste of what it was like carrying the ball 20 to 25 times a game." Sutton still carried the ball 20 times last week while Gilliard managed 29 carries. If Canadian's defense keys on Sutton or Gilliard they still have to worry about the 220-pound Dodson, who's averaging 7.6 yards per carry. "You've got to keep him honest," said Todd Wallace. Keeping all of the Hornets in check almost seems impossible for a defense. That's one reason the Hornets are still undefeated.
  7. Boles has scored over 600 points this year running the Wing-T, and Double Wing. Boles has been running for around 10 years. It takes take to get the motion and misdirection down, but when it starts to click, it is nearly unstopable.
  8. The game is at 2 P.M. on Saturday. Whoever wins has a great chance to win the D1 title. Will be a great shootout, I'm rooting for Boles to come out on top.
  9. Boles has one the best O-Line's in the area, with only one Senoir. They have a couple of D1 recruits and atleast 2 All-staters. QT Taylor Duran Jr. 5'11 240 QG Tracy Brockway Jr. 5'8 200 C Tate Stevens Jr. 5'7 190 SG Tyler Pettus Jr. 6'0 250 ST Bryan Cleveland Sr. 6'0 290 D1 Recruit, chose DII Abilene Christian
  10. Boles has won thier last 22 regular season games, including 2 straight 10-0 seasons. Now they will try and make school history and play into december. Team offensive stats 36-65 passing 859 yds 10 tds 3 INT 427 carries 4217 yds 61 tds 2 players with over a 1000 yds rushing
  11. Boles would destroy Joaquin, and they could easilly handle Tenaha and Mt. Enterprise. Boles is on the same level as Maud. Boles pre-discrict was not that bad. They slaughtered 3 2a teams (Rice 3-6, Scurry Rosser 4-5, Dallas Life 3-6) that would be playoff teams in a lot of 1A districts. Dallas Life, the best team Boles has played this year, lost 21-20 to Eustace, a team that has already clinched 2nd place in 14-3A. Mt. Enterprise lost two an avg. shelbyville team and no one has even come close to beating Boles. Wolfe City has improved a lot since the start of the year, but Boles should win fairly easilly. Boles has 7 (3 Sr, 1 Jr, 2 So., 1 Fr) possible D1 or D II recriuts. The Boles offense is unstopable and the defense is good but not great. Boles avg. 10 yds per carry and 25 yds per catch. The Sophomore QB has a QB rating 135 and avg. 9 yds a carry. Boles has now won 21 regular season games in a row and are set for a deep playoff run.
  12. 14-A Boles 4-0 D I Rep Wolfe City 4-0 D 11 Winner Celeste 2-2 Cumby 2-2 Gateway 0-4 Fruitvale 0-4 Winner of Boles Vs Wolfe City wins district championship Winner of Celeste vs Cumby will be the D II runner up
  13. I don't see Maud scoring 60 on JB, unless JB turns it over a lot. Boles has a better offense than Maud and they only scored 41, but Simms didn't turn the ball over either.
  14. If James Bowie doesn't turn the ball over it should be a close game. If they do turn the ball over it will out hand very quick. I think Bowie will have a good game, but they don't have a very good chance to win. Maud 35 Simms Bowie 14
