Figured I'd drag this back to the front. New Boston has Mt. Vernon left to play, and it is in New Boston I believe. Daingerfield is official finished with the regular season and has play-offs to look forward to after this bye. Redwater breezes by with a game against Queen City. Hooks and Prairiland play. My predictions have shaken out for the most part, aside from the fact that Mt. Vernon was beaten pretty soundly by Redwater, rather than in a close battle. I guess throwing out a prediction as late in the season as I had made it a good bit easier to make, though.

I'll actually be in town for this one, hoping for a good game. Maybe Mt. Vernon will be desperate enough to play like they did the first 3 quarters against Daingerfield. Maybe not, though. NB and MV play close for a quarter, then NB gets the ball moving and blows MV out. 49-14 or 49-21. Interesting thing to note, MV lost to Redwater and Daingerfield by about 4 touchdowns a piece.

NB lost to the eventual state champs the MELISSA Cardinals after dismantling the Pottsboro cardinals 47-26, and were up 27-0 at the half.

Congratz Spring Hill! It's always nice to see a fellow military style band make it to state, especially one as good as Spring Hill. I believe China Spring and Henderson are the only other 3A military style bands going to state this year.

MV had close games to Prairiland and Hooks while beating the mess out of LK, and QC had a solid win over PL, a closer win over LK, and lost to Hooks rather large. Since this is in MV, I'm pretty sure they are going to win, but QC may give you guys a few fits before bowing out. MV's biggest issue would be if they took QC lightly. Maybe a 21-7 or a 28-14 halftime score, and then MV pulls away in the 2nd half. QC did have that one guy , Shepard, who had the game of his life, 7 TD's and 444 yards rushing against Pland.

If they keep their head from getting too big, they ought to be fine.

Redwater plays Prairiland and Queen City at home, so an upset is unlikely. However, the Mt. Vernon game is at Mt. Vernon, and is probably the most important game of district, as it should determine the third playoff spot (assuming NB and DF win out, of course). I want to pick RW, because they will be the underdogs in the game, and have faced stiffer competition than Mt. Vernon has up to this point, but that doesn't negate the fact that MV is doing well and RW is not. I have RW winning because they are a desperate team, while Mt. Vernon will be a little less desperate, following a loss to Daingerfield. Queen City should give Mt. Vernon fits when they play, otherwise business as usual with DF and RW rolling. It seems at this point that Prairiland will lose out, with Hooks being the closest game they have left win, and even then it might not be pretty, being the last game of a losing season played away from home. As mentioned earlier, Hooks should beat Prairiland as well have a very close game with Redwater, with RW pulling out on top. NB will do well against them, might even roll, who knows. Daingerfield plays Mt. Vernon in Daingerfield, so it should be a win on Daingerfield's end, with it being close for a bit followed by DF pulling away in the second half. Rolls through the rest of their schedule, though. Mt. Vernon seems to be doing well up to this point, but after they play Queen City, they face their 3 biggest tests of the season against DF, NB and RW. I don't believe they will win against them, but should they win against one (Redwater seems the most likely), MV will have a play-off spot. Mt. Vernon will have a bulls-eye on NB, though, so that should be a good game as well. and they will probably play Daingerfield well also. New Boston has played their toughest games already, so they should win out. Mt. Vernon should be a good game. NB does have a problem with the inflated head in the playoffs, though, so they are basically their own worst enemies at this point.
