    District 31-4A

Just to change the subject. Whitehouse had a playoff warmup friendly against Brenham on Mon. Whitehouse beat Brenham 2-0 with one starting forward sitting out. The game was not close. Now it is a friendly and I dont know if any or some Brenham starters sat out too. Why am I bringing this up? Whitehouse is a solid 3rd place team in district 31-4A. And the Brenham team I saw play Mon would not have beat JT, Lindale or Athens. Now get this, Brenham is 22-4-4 overall this year and 9-1-2 in district. I heard but could not confirm that they are ranked in top 10 in state. My point... I think this shows that the quality and talent of soccer in East Texas area is better than down in that part of Texas. And could be some of the best in TX. Of course DFW typically puts out some very good teams. Now I am not tooting WH horn here. But the overall area teams.I have seen play like Pine Tree, Palestine, Jville, Henderson, Pittsburgh IMO I think these are better teams than I saw Mon with Brenham. I havent seen Kilgore but from their rep the same goes for them. Please take all this with a grain of salt. Friendlies dont always show the best in teams. But that was the impression I got from game Mon. I think all the supporters of the teams in our area should be proud that we have top quality teams around here and really talented players. I would be surprised if one of the teams in our area doesnt go to final 4 like Kilgore did last year.
  2. I have seen some of these teams play. As far as district 31 Whitehouse dominated play against Athens and Lindale. WH against JT was pretty even although I give JT the edge based on time of possession. Shots on goal was pretty even. Athens and Lindale had few shots on goal all game while WH had A LOT. I dont have stats handy. What I am seeing is the top 4 teams in that district are very close and can beat each other any given night. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top. I beleive JT has the edge. I have seen Jacksonville, Palestine, Henderson, Pitt and Pine Tree play. Pine Tree is the better team in that group IMO. All in all, East Texas has great talent and many of these teams are so close that it would be very hard to make a top 10. And soccer is a crazy sport, anything can happen in a game. Football is so much easier to rank teams.
  3. Sincere prayers for Coach McFarlin and family
  4. BH has the enrollment of 98 bosy total in high school I beleive. 40 out for football. The BH team could play with ANY 1A school in state. They would go deep into UIL 1A playoffs. BH would also be a playoff team in 2A although they would not be able to beat the likes of Tatum or Dfield. TKG is also a 1A level team but would not make playoffs in 1A UIL. THAT is what you were watching at Rose stadium. Comparing them to junior high is just stupid.
  5. What made your comment silly is that you were responding to a Cayuga supporter. Cayuga is 1A and it makes complete sense that he would consider BH a measuring stick. Now Pitt on other hand would consider their game with BH and easy opponent. Since they are a very good team in a toughest 3A district in the state.
  6. I was there and WO did not score once against BH D and brook hill scored 3 times I beleive. 1st play from scrimmage. BH would beat WO handily.
  7. As good as you think Regents is BH is ALOT better. BH will beat Regents by 3 TDs in final game.
  8. BH 10-2 vs TKG 7-5, last meeting BH 39 TKG 7 Who wins? And by how much?
  9. That game today was over by end of 1st quarter. 56-6 at half. JV played most of second half. Tyler Baker scored almost every time he touched the ball.
  10. Correction on your posted score... Brook Hill 70 Katy Faith West 19
  11. Thanks for the detail 14. I was trying to figure that out. I figured that either you all needed another first down to put it away or you were so close to your endzone you couldnt take a knee. The write up was a bit vague. Grace had a great year. I am sure they will continue next year too.
  12. I wasnt at the game but read the write up in the paper. I am a bit confused on the last minute of the game. Was Grace taking a knee and fumbled the snap? If you have a minute and a half or so and its first down. And the opposing team has no timeouts. You would be taking a knee, right? But the paper made it sounds like Grace was still pounding the ball with not much left on the clock. That doesnt make sense to me. Thought maybe someone there could help me out. Game stats looked very close. Sounded like a great game except for the mishap at the end. Grace had an excellent year and I thought would go to the final four for sure this year. Good job Grace.
  13. This thread is so stupid it makes me laugh. Now BH is recruiting players for other public school teams. According to most public schools in the area, BH is the anti Christ, cuz they are taking good players away from the public schools. BUt according to you, they are stealing kids and funneling them to Cayuga? I have an idea, why dont you get Kerens coach to call BH and set up a non district game? After you get stomped, you can blame it on Cayuga for funnelling kids to BH.
  14. Great job by BOTH teams and their coaches. They did EXACTLY the correct thing in this situation. You ALWAYS play to extend your season by going to the playoffs. Arguing otherwise is stupid. Besides, those kids will remember that game for the rest of their lives and be proud of it. Great story.
