  1. One thing that is kind of unique about this Fairfield team, is that most of their key offensive players, start or play a lot on the defensive side of the ball and have done so the entire season. I'm saying QB, RB, and WR's. All of these young men are amazing athletes and all understand that to be successful it will take 110% from the entire team. Fairfield being a small 3A, they will not have the depth that Argyle will bring, but they will bring a determined attitude. Over 100 of Fairfield's Offensive touchdowns this season were scored by Defensive starters. This is a Special Team and Coaching Staff. Go Eagles!!!
  2. Strength of schedule always makes for an interesting debate. A teams historical past is usually brought into a lot of those same debates as well. But the fact is that 179 other teams in 3A failed to make it to the Championship game. Argyle, Fairfield, Carthage, and Kilgore ALL EARNED their spot. The one's that seem to have the strongest opinion that Fairfield will not even compete with Argyle or that they shouldn't be in this game, have not witnessed what this team has been through and the heart that they played with this special season. They have under estimated no one all season, and I don't think that they will start now. With an outstanding coaching staff and the whole community behind them, they will be ready. Don't make the mistake of under estimating them!
  3. Their are numerous games tomorrow all over the state with both teams traveling to a neutral site to play. A forfeit, due to weather should never be an option, regardless of what schools are involved Player 73. This is about the UIL and their lack of proper contingencies for situations like this.
  4. Keep in mind that temperatures start to drop after dark (6:00 p.m.) Now play a football game from lets say 6:30 to 9:30 and then get on the bus and drive back approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours, its about midnight and the icy roads are back. If safety is truly important then they will find a solution, If it's not then they'll find and excuse.
  5. I understand that their is an issue with time constraints, but you send the wrong message to young people when you devalue safety for convenience.
  6. I noticed that Argyle ISD would be closed tomorrow on one of the DFW news stations. I went to their website to see if the Playoff game was rescheduled. The following is from their website. Important! Argyle ISD Will be closed Monday December 9th due to inclement weather. To meet the extended UIL certification deadline The Argyle vs Gladewater game will be played Monday December 9th at 6:30 p.m. at Waco Midway. So lets see, Its not safe enough for kids to attend school for their education on Monday. (Which more than likely, they all live within a close proximity to.) BUT its safe enough to put that same student body on the same roads for a 150 mile bus ride to play the game, then drive back 150 miles. High School version of Monday Night Football................C' Mon MAN!!!!!!
  7. Carthage has a Great Program and Coaching Staff. In the Mexia game, Fairfield was up 51-0 at the Half. In the 3rd Quarter Fairfield scored on a 50+ yard fumble return for a touchdown as well as 2 long runs by a Sophomore RB that ran for about 100 yards in the second half. So it was 72-0 at the end of the 3rd. No disrespect to Mexia, but Fairfield just had their number that night. NO points scored in the 4th Quarter. IMO nobody run up the score. The final score to a game only tells HALF the story sometimes. The Fairfield Coaching Staff did a great job playing the younger guys this year and these same younger guys had a lot of success on both sides of the ball in the second half of the games. Fairfield came up with 31 turnovers this season, and a big portion of those came in the second half of games resulting in a lot of easy scores as well.
  8. 44 - 7 Fairfield still in the 3rd
  9. 3 - 6's and a 2 Score now 31 -7 Fairfield
  10. After watching both the Carthage/Jacksonville game and the Palestine/Jacksonville game myself. I can't exactly agree with your assessment that Palestine wiped the field with Jacksonville and that Jacksonville played Carthage tight. Palestine played a home game and won by 21 and Carthage played a road game and won by 14. IMO Jacksonville played a lot sloppier (tackling wise) in the Palestine game. Palestine is a very talented team and well coached but not the same level as a Carthage when the playoffs come around. Coach Surratt is known for experimenting with players and positions as well as play calling early in the season, regardless of whether or not it cost them a non-district loss.
  11. I think that Fairfield will be anything, but an easy hurdle for them to get past. Should be a good game.
