  1. And he did it twice to McKinney.
  2. Eddie has grown up with soccer. His dad played professional soccer for 19 years and is DOC at Texas Football Club. Eddie aspires to follow in his dad's footsteps.
  3. Eddie Puskarich is the one who scored the 1st and 3rd goal. He has phenomenal ball handling skills and will burn you with his speed. He is also the place-kicker for the football team.
  4. It's not a vote to televise it as UIL rules prohibit televising Friday games. It's to pick 1 of the 4 listed games to be featured in a news story. That said, I'm sure the Lovejoy and Henderson fans can muster enough votes to win out over the Class 1A schools Muenster and Lindsay. We are both large 3A schools therefore we should have a bigger fanbase. Right now the Muenster/Lindsay game has almost 9000 votes and the Lovejoy/Henderson has a bit over 7000 votes. It is odd that the larger the school the smaller the number of votes.
  5. Their history as a high school is indeed short. This is their 5th year of existence but in that 5 years Lovejoy has accomplished a tremendous amount and are developing a very strong culture of excellence. Lone Star cup: 2010 winner Football: Made playoffs in 1st year of varsity (2008) with no seniors on the team. State semi-finalists in 2009 and 8 seconds shy of winning the game. District champs 2010 and still alive in the playoffs after spectacular win over Celina. Volleyball: 2 back-to-back state championships, the first in 2008 with no seniors. They play for their 3rd state title today. Regional semi-finalists in 2007 with only freshmen and sophomores. District winners in every year of varisty competition since 2007. Ranked in top 20 of the entire nation. Cross Country: Boys and Girls teams won state titles last weekend. They came in 2nd place last year. Boys Basketball: District champs and Regional finalsts in 2009. Girls Basketball: District champs in 2009. Boys soccer: Competed in a competetive 4-A distict and went 3 rounds deep in playoffs. Boys Baseball: 2010 District champs and regional semi-finalists Girls Softball: 2009: District Co-Champions and Bi-District Champions 2010: District Champions and Regional semi-finalist Additionally, the non-sports side of Lovejoy is very strong as well: Band, theater, choir and journalism. But the readers of this forum might not be too interested it that.
  6. Great defensive battle: Lovejoy had 200 yards of total offense and Celina had 214 yards. By the way I thought there was only 1 missed field goal in the game (by Celina). Lovejoy's Puskarich made a 39 yard FG into the wind.
  7. Argyle and Lovejoy won't play each other in the playoffs. Lovejoy is D-I and Argyle is D-II. Sanger gets the D-1 nod from Argyle's district.
  8. Lovejoy - Abilene Wylie '09 State Semis, Div I Wait, there will a rematch on Sept. 24, 2010 at Lovejoy. That should be a great game.
  9. Lovejoy beat Poteet 3-1 on Tuesday and faces Pearce tonight at 7:30 in McKinney. Lovejoy and Pearce played each other twice this season and the result was a tie each time. It should be a good game.
  10. Defense42, The Region III State winners you mention are the 2 teams from Region III that are now in region II: Gilmer and Carthage. After discounting them, what is left in Region III? Are we discussing the relative strengths of Region II and III going forward or looking back to the past? I believe it is the forward-looking view that is most relevant. The Region III teams mentioned previously: Navasota, West Orange-Stark, Jasper, Cuero will likely remain highly competitive because that is their tradition. Likewise the Region II teams listed before: Argyle, Celina, Prosper, Paris, LE, Pleasant Grove and Pitt are incumbent Region II 3A schools with strong football traditions. Mabank, Lindale, Henderson are drops from 4A. Carthage and Gilmer are now in Region II and both are last year's state champs. Pilot Point is last year's 2A D1 State Champ and Aubrey went 3 rounds deep in 2A D2. Frisco Lone Star is a big unknown. However their population will be large and is a split of Frisco Wakeland. Finally, Lucas Lovejoy is the new kid on the block that missed going to the state final against Gilmer by 6 seconds. They are returning 9 on each side of the ball including all of their skill players. So in short, I don't think Region II will be a cakewalk for any team in D1 or D2.
  11. According to Coach Puckett, Lovejoy is losing only 3 on each side of the ball, mostly on the line. They also have a kicker who has hit several 40+ yarders and he'll be Junior next year.
  12. I don't see where Lovejoy is going up to 4A. The projections have them staying in 3A. What's interesting is the projected district of 11-3A with Prosper (which the Lovejoy football team beat in the region 2 championship game and the volleyball team beat in the Regional Tournament on their way to a 2nd State Title), Van Alstyne (which went undefeated in the regular season, and the new super-sized 3A school, Frisco Heritage.
  13. With correct link: http://www.uil.utexas.edu/2006align/pdf/al...nt_policies.pdf
  14. 2 years ago, Lovejoy had 9th & 10th grades only. The UIL enrollment number for classifiication was 848. However, that does not mean that there were 848 freshman and sophomores. When a school has less than 4 grades then a formula is used come up with the official enrollement number. In the case of Lovejoy the following was used: from: http://www.uil.utexas.edu/2006align/pdf/al...t_policies.pdf: 4. New schools: Schools opening or entering competition in the first year of an alignment period will have their conference placement determined by the following procedure: (a) Opening or entering with 1 grade: Enrollment (projected or actual) multiplied by 2 (b) Opening or entering with 2 grades: Enrollment (projected or actual) multiplied by 1.33 © Opening or entering with 3 grades: Enrollment (projected or actual) multiplied by 1.33 (d) Opening or entering with 4 grades: Enrollment (projected or actual) Therefore, Lovejoy's enrollment data was determined by (4b) above and their actual student enrollment was 638.
  15. They were co-champs with Princeton. They lost a 1 game playoff against Princeton to decide playoff seeding.
