  1. Congratulations to Kade Clayton of Tyler Grace for his 4th trip to TAPPS State in 110 Hurdles to defend his two state titles. What is critical here is that Kade had a sever knee injury including complete ACL and Meniscus repair which occurred in the second football game of this season. Through excellent medical treatment and true grit, Kade wanted to defend his titles at state. He has made a fantastic recovery. Good luck at the state meet.
  2. 48-14 Grace. Game was over after the first quarter. Kade Clayton runs for 200 yards. White throws over 200 and 3 tds. Defense played great. Brook Hill moved up to Div II after being successful in the lower division III where they won a lot of district games against weak teams. Welcome to Div. II. BH has now lost its last 3 by wide margins against the better Div. II teams. They will be fighting to make the play offs next week. If they win next week they get to travel to Midland to play their last game of the year.
  3. Grace and Brook Hill JV played tonight instead of usual Thursday game. Grace 49 Brook Hill 32 Good game by both teams.
  4. Grace has several good o-line men. 6'4" 275 Clay Costillo is a sophomore. Has good skills for his age and size. Also, Josh Boylan at 6'2 240 senior at center is very good. He does not have size for big time college center but excellent skills and is being looked at by several schools.
  5. Gorman has been playing hard. They have new system which is taking time to get going in right direction. Brook Hill probably wins this but they are not nearly as good as they have been in the past regardless of injuries. Last couple years Brook Hill blows this open. This year might be closer than you think. Brook Hill by 14. Gorman is getting better but doesn't have the weapons.
  6. Lee's quarterback will get better. This is his first year of varisty. He transfered from Grace where he was going to be back-up in different type system. He has to learn system and get better. He never had any varsity snaps. He has a good arm and is doing better than they had last year.
  7. BigRedFan; I know you are all about Winnsboro. We played them last two years. Are you saying they are not a "real" team. Grace is happy to get to play who they play. No one from Grace is on here talking any trash. I have said nothing but good things about Brook Hill and wish them well. It will be a fun game when we play them and yes, Brook Hill certainly could win. They have a very good quarterback and line. I know they have some good defensive backs. They just had linebacker running back from Grace transfer out of Grace and into Brook Hill this week who I know is a good player. So they will be good. Plus they are all good young men and are basically friends with all the Grace players. So atmosphere sould be fun and hope for a clean injury free game. Since the game is in November there is a lot of football to play between now and then. Don't know who will be healthy and who not. The thing about smaller programs, if you lose a couple players due to injury for the week, the game can really change. Good luck to both. PS: BigRedFan, I consider Winsborro a "real team" we have enjoyed playing them. Also Mineola and San Augustine are "real teams".
  8. Grace has a good program due to an excellent coaching staff starting with Coach Mike Maddox and Coach Norm Thompson. The program has great family support. How many programs have the player moms wash uniforms every night. Grace will be competitive in most games but we certainly have had our share of losses along the way and really appreciate getting to play local schools our size for a good test pre-district. It would be fine if Grace had a few of those kids from other schools that wanted to play but couldn't at a larger school. We have a very good kicker who transferred from Chapel Hill. All rest have been at Grace since kindergarten or a few coming in in junior high. Pretty much all home grown. You might be thinking about Brook Hill which has a great football program and Coach and seems to have good transfers every year. As far as Brook Hill. They have had good teams over the last few years and have the hardware to prove it. This will be the first year they move up to a more difficult district. I still believe they will do well but don't think they will be winning district or a state championship this year. Nor would they have before in this division. Just an overall more difficult division. I wish them well because they are very good young men and Grace players look forward to playing them.
  9. All of the players on this thread would be good at any school large or small. Larger schools certainly have the numbers and talent. You always have a good group of players that can play at any level even at the small schools. Just not as many. The converse is also true, if smaller school QBs had all the talented players of larger schools, they would be even better.
  10. Blake White of Tyler Grace was nominated as one of ten players to be named Texas Gridiron Player of the Week by Dave Campbell's Texas Football and Wranglers/Cavenders. The selection of the top player from the 10 nominated is by fan vote and the poll is open at www.texasfootball.com or www.facebook.com/GridironLegends Blake is the only east Texan nominated this week. Cast a vote for an east Texas player.
  11. Thanks for update and pulling the information together. There are a lot of good quarterbacks in the area.
  12. This will be a good game. Mineola can stop a running team. They have good d-line and linebackers. Still might have to go with Winnsboro on this one is a fairly low scoring contest.
  13. Blake White has 214 yards rushing on 32 carries with 4 rushing TDS after first two games
  14. Mineola is a good one dimensional team. Rely completely on Dac Shaw who is a beast. I don't think he had more than a hundred yards tonight. They have a very good front defensive group that can shut down the run. They have difficulty defending the pass. Grace offensive line played a great game. Kept qb protected all night. Kade Clayton had a 90 yard kick off return. Lin Gillham had a great interception in second quarter that helped keep things in check. All around good game plan by coaches. Good thing for both teams no real injuries. The Mineola Stadium is very nice and the people were great.
