  1. This is a great story to share with your athletes to remind them of safety in the weight room. Also important to realize this guy had a spotter and that the head strength coach was about ten feet away. Things happen quick when lifting, and people can get hurt if you don't pay attention!
  2. My wife and I met some of our good friends from Pearland in San Antone for a weekend on the Riverwalk this past weekend and went to Olympia Hills in Universal City and played. Outstanding course! Narrow fairways and some great elevation changes, especially on the front nine. Don't know about the cost, since we won the round in a benefit auction. Great place to play, though, and any excuse to go to San Antone is worth it!
  3. real country music (music that actually has a steel guitar and fiddle, no guitar-hero electric riffs and heavy drums) then try Amber Digby and Justin Trevino.
  4. I put them into groups of three, and give them info on the Code, the Magna Carta, and the Constitution. As a class, we have not already talked about the Magna Carta, so this will work later as well when we get to it. I have them do three things: 1. Compare/ contrast the three 2. Decide what they like/ dislike about all three and why 3. Try to create one document that incorporates their likes from all three
  5. OK - what are you SUPPOSED to be doing in class today, and what are you really doing? My World History kids are working in small groups on Hammurabi's Code. I love group work!
  6. If the cut-off numbers keep going up, they sure will be. Pretty soon, 5A will be the big four urban centers of Texas, especially at the rate some of those districts keep adding 5A high schools.
  7. Sounds like an unexcused absence for everyone that day, with a statement for their file about why. I wonder if Obama's Civilian National Security Force would come and get us. By the way, if you have not looked into that one, I would suggest you do so. SCARY STUFF!!!
  8. How about Gruden and his Favre-worship session? Good lord! You'd have thought Gruden was Favre's bung buddy or something. I had to mute it by the second quarter. I think I even threw up a little in my mouth!
  9. Check out this website, but make sure the computer faces away from the kids, and don't drink or eat while wathcing some of these. Flat hysterical! http://www.veryfunnyads.com/
  10. The problem with having the largest US Army base here is just that - it is the United State's. And many of the soldiers there, and people living in Texas, are not Texan. Perhaps the biggest thing that gets in the way of seccesion is this - does anyone really think the US is going to just let us go? Even if every Texan took up arms, the results would probably quick and disatrous for Texas. And the issue of nullification was settled in 1833 when Congress authorized President Jackson to use force is necessary to enforce the laws of the United States, and to preserve the Union. This is the same thing that would happen if Texas tried to do it now.
  11. I would like to have seen Mark May when Holtz said that! I bet he was all over him like stink on ....!
  12. Many politicans want public schools to fail so that a voucher system will be easier to install.
