Robby Grandgeorge To Corsicana
bearbacker592 replied to runthediveplease's topic in High School Sports
coach grandgeorge is a great coach- hate to see him go but wish him the best and much success at corsicana. great guy, great coach. have hated to see so many gladewater coaches go- i talked to many of them, but didn't learn anything i didn't already know. not a one of them trashed the kids that played hard for them, either. in regards to a previous point: **some players/kids want to be led, those are the winners. they are encouraged by coaches, but they are self motivated. there are still some of those boys left in gladewater. i would just note that i've not seen any of those young men on this board causing bad things to be said about their school, coaches or fellow players. **and then there are some players/kids that just want to be carried. self motivation and self discipline are lacking and when the wins don't come it's because of everyone else, never what they did or did not do themselves. (don't kid yourself with a statement like 'all kids want to be led.' any coach who's been in the business very long knows that won't hold water. some kids couldn't be begged, beaten, or blistered into being led anywhere. it's their way or no way.) again, we have some young men who are willing to be led, not carried. i believe they will work with the new coaches, regardless of feelings or opinions so far, to do the best for the team as a whole. those that will not do so should do the rest of the team a favor and stay home. cancers destroy the program and will do it before they are even given a chance. gwbears...2010!! anybody know where coach lane went? -
from what i'm hearing, the new guy - whoever it is- will be able to bring several guys in b/c several of the current staff have taken jobs for next year somewhere else. no body is gonna get fired. there's going to be enough openings for an new coach to hire his own.

cook has already signed to leave?? what about little? is he staying
-
i asked around, don't think cook will want to stay. think they will have to look somewhere else.
-
heard today that when callaway was leaving, several assts. were talking about leaving also. don't know if it's true yet, will be checking.
-
cook would be great. little would do okay- i think they are looking for experience. cook doesn't have head coaching history, but is already in the system and is a great coach. grandgeorge is a little young, maybe. don't think that they would go with russell at all.
-
i don't know if he would want it or not, but kelly cook would be a great hire.

Congratulations on the W, Gilmer. LE, you will bounce back. Loads of talent present, but not being able to put in fresh horses toward the end of the game will wear on any team. Between that and having kids that play both sides of the ball, muscle fatigue inevitably begins to set in. Next week starts fresh. Sounds like it was a good game by both teams.

Excellent pictures...great shots, great quality -
Hate that the Bears didn't pull off a win. It is starting to look better. Keeping the ball off the ground helps a lot. Next week is going to be a tough game, but every game is a new one and I'm still pulling for those boys. It CAN be done. Good luck, Bears---keep working hard and pull together. Congratulations to Rusk on a good game and the W.

Read the post that was quoted...just happened to be mine. "Eliminate mental mistakes and turnovers." That's "the right thing" that was referred to. Have to keep the ball in your hands and play smart. Those turnovers cost us the last two games, both of which would have been won without costly mistakes.

With the numbers they are putting up in offense and limiting defensive yardage, I don't think playcalling is the problem, "coach" WOS. Glad to see you can pick a few plays and decide what would have been a game winner. Funny, but I thought the touchdown passes that were dropped were decent plays. So were the plays that kept them moving down the field. FUMBLES are what killed them. Eliminate the turnovers, catch the ball...win the game. You appear to have much interest in the Bear game. Since you obviously are not a fan, why bother watching? Seems they could do without you dissecting the playcalling. When you think you can do better, go to school and become a coach. Then you can stand on the sidelines, call the plays, and have some wannabe tell you what you're doing wrong when the problem is clearly execution/mental mistakes.

GW will overcome mental mistakes and cut down or eliminates turnovers/penalties. Bears win.
